I’ve been making homemade milk kefir forever and giving to my racing pigeons but know one ever listens but a few. Cheap & easy to make. Very, very healthy for the racing pigeons. The best probiotic hands down!
Hi Brian I obviously totally agree. I use kefir myself on my bird’s, dog and now my daughter uses it successfully to improve her horses thus saving a small fortune on vet bills. I find pigeon fanciers like to pay money on products that at best do nothing. I saw one advertisement for one the other day saying it contained short chain fatty acids which I had just listened to one of the words top professor answering a question on them. He said that it would be great if humans had learnt to take fatty acids orally but at present it's impossible as they are destroyed in the stomach process and its the bacteria gut that make them. Still there was a picture of a pigeon on the tub and it was only £15 ! Regards Dave
Hi thank you for this but i did not understand what is the first thing in the big jar (kefir)? Can i buy kefir and put it on the grains without doing all you've done here? If not can we do that with youghurt? Im not a fancier nor i care for birds (in general) im just a girl tried rescuing 2 baby pigeons removed from nests but now they have either salmonella, cocci or E.coli..(some bacterial infection) but dont want to use antibiotics 😞
You can buy in the UK it kefir already made up in bottles in supermarkets which will help you. It isn't as good as the kefir you make with grains but at short it will help Hope this helps you Regards Dave
@@davebunkerbrierley2434 thank you so much for the reply. Im currently in Bulgaria but considering youghurt came out from Bulgaria as our country was the only one that had the good bacteria to create it (later government sold the recipe to Greece & people mistakenly think it is greek youghurt) i think i can find some good stuff here. Thanks again ❤ P.s do you know if i give a mixture of kefir & garlic oil & oregano tea for 7 days will be ok?
@InaM777 Hi Oregano tea is good and can only help, garlic oil I can't comment on as I don't use it. I do however use 1 x garlic clove crushed with a tablespoon of cider vinegar in my 2 litre drinker for maintenance 2 x per week and see good health outcomes. Hope this helps you good luck with your quest. Regards Dave
@@davebunkerbrierley2434 thank you soo much. One of my pigeon is very sick today refused to eat it literally made me cry because i dont want to lose him/her too. Sadly whatever s/he has had transmitted to the younger one who i cared for so well and kept healthy for a long time. Im literally distraught today as i dont know the real problem and here in my country we literally have no vets that can help 😭😭😭
@InaM777 So sorry to here this. If you managed to get your yogurt or kefir you could try to syringe a little down into it's crop. If it starts to purk up you could slowly add some yogurt/kefir and seeds after blending them together in a blender. Good luck. I'm sorry but that's all I can advise. Regards Dave
Hi Martin for breeding I would give the parents from pairing twice a week then from youngbirds hatching till leaving the nest every other day. Then revert to twice a week to maintain health. For racing twice a week but give to them after the race upon their return especially if it it’s been a hard race. Hope this helps you Regards Dave
Excellent, very informative and step by step instructions. Thank you for this brilliant video!

Hey Dave how often would you give to the birds. Breeders/ Racers. Before racing and breeding .

Avoiding metal as no good for it then you use metal spoon to mix with pigeon corn in next clip.😏
Yep you are correct except but keep metal away from the kefir grains but it's OK for the kefir which is the product 😉
Hope this helps you Regards Dave
Pls translate to Indonesia
Please accept my apologies as I don't know how to
