    I also have skyleader. Remember, it's like drawing a dot-to-dot puzzle, and appears like a straight line. However, the dots are actually time intervals. So, if the dots are close together....something has happened to slow down the birds. Maybe they got tired going uphill, maybe they circled an obstacle, maybe they stopped and rested or got a drink. It wont draw curves. Only straight lines. Check at each dot, and it will tell you their speed at that point. As you dig deep, you can tell where they are slowing down. Hope this helps. It's the coolest pigeon invention yet. Thanks for sharing.

    • @RFRP

    so the lesson here is to pick the release points for training directly in line of path of the actual race release points to the loft (if you know the race release points). it would be interesting to know if the 2nd bird also took a detour to the training release point instead of flying in a straight line.

    • @RFRP
      @RFRP  3 года назад +1

      That is how I do my training, but maybe others do it differently?? And yes, the second bird did detour to the previous release site! It went slightly more north toward my loft location though. Thanks for weighing in!!

    You should take flights in small aircraft, see what the birds see at thousands of feet. Probably be amazed at how far you can see from those heights, what stands out, etc. Considering that your birds detoured slightly is interesting. Might want to work around that. Thanks for uploading. Cheers

    • @RFRP
      @RFRP  10 месяцев назад +1

      They do at first but then after as the race progresses the stronger ones tend to break away from the main flock. By the end the birds tend to arrive in small groups, and sometimes one at a time.

    Love this video. So glad I found your channel. No, those aren’t mountains. I live in Utah near Logan. Are you from Utah as well?

      How fun to know you’re from out my way. I flew racing pigeons during my growing up years with my father in Brigham City. I have fond memories of spending time with him and flying birds. I just recently started up again, but I’m having a terrible time with the raptors. Almost every time I loft fly, the Cooper Hawks are attacking them. I’ve lost so many to them. It’s very discouraging. I haven’t let them out for over two weeks now. I’ve tried keeping them in for two or three days hoping the migrating hawks will move along. I’ve also tried letting them fly at different times of the day. I don’t want to give up yet. Any advice is welcome. The GPS bands are so awesome! My father would have been so excited about this possibility.

      That is awesome! Brigham City was our first race station.
      Hawks: that sounds super frustrating!! I would stop flying your birds for the next few months. Winter is notoriously bad with hawks. Start letting them out again in the spring. Good luck and keep me posted!

    This could be a interesting way to scam people by selling them and telling the person that it’s allowed to free fly and will come back by whistling and at the end of the day you get the bird back and some money 💀

      Yes, one absolutely could do that with these birds

    Stop giving food like this. You should clean
