    Haven't you yet tried tuning your 12 String Guitar to a Double High strung tuning? It's basically Nashville tuning (E3, A3, D4, G4, B3, E4) but on a 12 String Guitar with all unison pairs of strings. You'll need 2 sets of Daddario EJ38H Nashville tuning Acoustic Guitar Strings.

    DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat There's also 14 String Guitars which is a 12 String with a Low B course added. It gives you the 12 String Jangle with the 7 String Guitar Low B making it a unique hybrid instrument.

    DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat That tuning is called Joe Beck Semi-Nashville tuning where the center 2 strings are up an Octave, but Joe Beck & Pat Matheny drop that down a Fifth

    To make playing the 12 String Guitar easier, you can string it up with the Lightest Gauge of Strings like EJ41, have the lowest possible action, and even add a Zero fret. You can always make playing it even easier by just tuning down a half step to Eb Standard which might also make it easier to sing those high notes.

    You can take that Variant of Nashville tuning a step further by replacing the B String with a High B made by Octave4Plus at .006 to get a brighter sound. If you string your 12 String with Octave4Plus Strings you'll notice right away the High B is a .006 which broadens the range & produces a brighter sound.

    DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat I made 2 changes to this Variation on Nashville tuning. 1) I replaced the B String with a .006 High B made by Octave4Plus (Nowadays it's practical to have the 2nd pair of Strings on the 12 String Guitar tuned in Octaves thanks to the .006 High B, & 2) to get the middle notes back I replaced the High E String with an Octave Higher Low E String (I tuned the 1st String down an Octave) which it then went E2, A2, D4, G4, B4, E3, which makes me think of a theorbo. New Nashville tuning is an updated version of Nashville tuning where the B String is now an Octave higher thanks to the .006 High B made by Octave4Plus.

    You forget to mention that many people like to tune the 12 String Down a half step to make it easier to play.

  • @RockStarOscarStern634
    @RockStarOscarStern634 3 года назад +1

    Octave4Plus now has the 2nd pair of Strings on a 12 String Guitar set in Octaves thanks to a .006 gauge High B String. Why not order the Octave4Plus 12 String Guitar String set 1A? The .006 Gauge High B is going to broaden the range & give you even more clarity on the High end.

  • @RockStarOscarStern634
    @RockStarOscarStern634 4 года назад +1

    DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat Octave4Plus successfully went up to an Open High B on a 12 String thanks to the .006 High B, but an Octave Higher High E string isn't yet available.

  • @RockStarOscarStern634
    @RockStarOscarStern634 4 года назад +1

    DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat Octave4Plus Successfully went up to a B4 via .006 High B so now you have "New Nashville Tuning (E3, A3, D4, G4, B4, E4)"

    12 String Guitars are ideal for song covers. The 12 String Electric Guitar is what you hear in Turn, Turn, Turn by the Byrds so I'd like you to get a Cozart 12 String Electric Guitar. Keep in mind it's easier to play than a 12 String Acoustic Guitar because it has a Lower Action and thinner strings.

  • @RockStarOscarStern634
    @RockStarOscarStern634 4 года назад +1

    DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat That's called Half Nashville Tuning used famous by Pat Metheny

  • @RockStarOscarStern634
    @RockStarOscarStern634 4 года назад +1

    DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat Electric Guitars are actually easier to play than Acoustic Guitars due to the super low action, and this applies to 12 String Guitars too.

  • @RockStarOscarStern634
    @RockStarOscarStern634 3 года назад +2

    DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat One change I made to the 12 String is I replaced the Unison B String w/ a High B because over the years Octave4Plus made a String thin enough to tune to High B which is a .006.

  • @RockStarOscarStern634
    @RockStarOscarStern634 4 года назад +1

    DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat Actually the easiest way to start playing the 12 String Guitar would be to get a 12 String Electric Guitar and it uses the same amount of strength to play as a 6 String cause the action has been lowered down all the way. Would you suggest 12 String Electric Guitars as a beginner 12 String Guitar too?

  • @RockStarOscarStern634
    @RockStarOscarStern634 4 года назад +1

    DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat My question then becomes, how do you develop the strength to play the 12 String easily? Why not just use a 12 String Electric?

      @@DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat Speaking of 12 string Guitars, I have a 12 String Guitar too. It's a Cozart White 12 String Stratocaster.

    • @RockStarOscarStern634
      @RockStarOscarStern634 4 года назад +2

      @@DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat The 12 String Guitar is alot easier to play with just as much strength as a 6 String cause there are 12 String Electric Guitars available on Ebay. The Cozart 12 String Stratocaster (which I got off of Ebay) is a very good 12 String Guitar for beginners because of it's super low action, thin strings, and super good playability. Electric Guitars are in fact easier (for everyone) to play than Acoustic Guitars due to the thinner strings, and lower action, which makes them very beginner friendly, even with the 12 String Electric Guitars.

    You forgot to mention that the easiest way to play the 12 String Guitar would be to tune it down a half step to release some of the tension from the neck and to give your fingers some relief.

  • @RockStarOscarStern634
    @RockStarOscarStern634 4 года назад +1

    Isn't this variation on Nashville Tuning going to make a good substitute for the 12 String in case it needs new strings?

    • @DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat
      @DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat  4 года назад +1

      It is very close, but not the same.... although I love playing my six string with this variation😊

      @@DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat Interestingly, the 12 String Guitar is easy to play as a 6 String cause there are 12 String Electric Guitars too. Electric Guitars (even the 12 String Electric Guitars) are super easy to play. The 12 String Electric Guitar doesn't take that much strength to push down on 2 strings unlike a 12 String Acoustic Guitar because 12 String Electric Guitars have thinner strings, and a lower action.

    • @RockStarOscarStern634
      @RockStarOscarStern634 4 года назад +1

      @@DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat The 12 String Guitar is played the same way as a 6 String Guitar. Pushing down 2 Strings in each pair is the easiest with a Low Action, and Lightest gauge of strings. Can you put Daddario EJ41 Extra Light gauge 12 String Guitar strings on your 12 String? This would really make playing the 12 String Acoustic Guitar super easy, making it feel like a 12 String Electric Guitar.

    • @RockStarOscarStern634
      @RockStarOscarStern634 4 года назад +1

      @@DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat However you can double that up in Unison pairs for a 12 String guitar as a variation on Double High Strung Tuning (E2, A2, D4, G4, B3, E4: Doubles up in unison pairs), and then it would sound like two 12 String Guitars playing in unison. You forgot to mention about 12 String Electric Guitars cause those are the most beginner friendly 12 String Guitars. Can't you get a 12 String Strat? BTW Octave4Plus made 12 String Sets with a High B4 string but be careful when installing the Octave4Plus 12 String Set 1A cause the High B string is a tiny little string.

    • @RockStarOscarStern634
      @RockStarOscarStern634 4 года назад +1

      @@DogsLuvUNoMatterWhat I think all your 6 String Guitars can handle this tuning. But Double it up on a 12 String with all unison Strings and then it's in a variation on Double High Strung Tuning. Double High Strung tuning is basically Nashville Tuning on a 12 String Guitar with 6 Unison Pairs. If we doubled that on a 12 String with 6 Unison pairs of Strings it would sound like 2 12 String Guitars playing in unison.

  • @RockStarOscarStern634

    Why can't you just tune the 12 String Guitar down a half step?
