    How could someone dislike this? Watching this video I feel so happy that someone is being about to walk again, a thing I take for granted everyday.

    Many people are gonna be REALLY very happy because of this. Just look at the excitement in that lady's face when she notices that she is actually walking. This will change the lives of many people who are paralyzed for the rest of their lives. Hats off to the scientists at berkley bionics.

    This was an authentic video. We should be thankful that this technology exists now. Any of us could end up in a similar situation. Truly wonderful.

    My dad and family are traveling to California this weekend to test this thing out! He is a T-5 paraplegic since 2001. In the past year he has regained strength and even some return in his legs by swimming and standing in his standing-frame. We hope e-Legs will help his muscles 'remember' how to walk again as he continues to gain strength.

    This is amazing. I'm not in need of this, but for the people who are this is monumental. For all the horrible things we use technology for their is always a gem like this tucked away. Good job guys.

    This world ROCKS! These are the things we should be focusing on. Technologies that can improve the way we do things or help us do the things we are unable to do. I can't imagine not being able to walk. This is why I love technology. Its everywhere, its everything, its our life! A proud salute to the Berkley Bionics group for their efforts and to those who have helped.

    I think this is awesome!!! I know a guy that had a brain tumor and pretty much made him learn everyday stuff all over again, but at a much slower rate and even 8 or so years later he is just now walking decently with a walker. I would really like to see him get one of these! He really deserves it...

    This. Is so. GOOD!!! Thanks so much for making this wonderous device!! I suffer different health problems that it is designed to help with, but I well know how disempowering and debilitating a loss of mobility can be, and what it means to *regain* that mobility again. This device is a god send to everyone who can use it. Thanks once again!

    Mere words cannot express how I feel about the benefits that this kind of technology can bring to mankind ! I have nothing but admiration for people who are doing this work. Let's keep the cost down. Right !
    As long as it's always available to the general public and not just the military.

  • @yonjooheero

    Great work guys...consider your work not only the most important military uses, but the help it will give to human people, will be even more. Each day you guys go to work, I hope you love it....because you guys have something special here...keep going!!!
    Remember Carbon Fibers, lightweight etc, I guess that's the next step...to make it smaller and easier to use. Good luck all.

    To those of you that have snide comments about this please do yourself the favor of keeping them to yourself. You obviously have never known someone in a wheel chair or can even emphasize with someone who is.
    To say that this is remarkable truly doesn't do it justice. All you have to do is look at look at Amanda's face when she uses the eLegs to know that something fantastic has been created for people that have a desire to walk again. I hope this research continues.

  • @Sparkz1607
    @Sparkz1607 14 лет назад

    This is amazing. :D
    I'm pretty sure the HULC device was meant to brace your legs and give them extra, metal bones on the outside to minimize injuries, but to do something like this, the braces need to move by themselves. I can't believe they actually did it. :)
    Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to 2010. The future is here.

  • @RiceDonleyHousehold

    @chaniotis I totally agree with you. I was stuck without walking for just 3 months after my amputation surgery, and I went nuts. I couldn't imagine NEVER being able to walk again. I would totally wear this out in public and not care if that was the case. Now hopefully insurances will cover this for all those people...

    This is fabulous to see! I've met several people who are fabulous athletes even as users of wheelchairs or other conventional mobility devices, and I've wondered at times what they might be capable of if they were free to apply that same level of dedication and effort to life in a walking, upright body...maybe one day before long I won't have to wonder anymore. :)

    This is AWESOME! I'm not paralyzed in any way, but I can relate to how much they just want to enjoy life on their feet. I have a debilitating disease that prevents me from doing things I want to do, but because of fatigue and not paralysis. If I forced it I could walk in the park and even run, but not for long before I collapse from exhaustion. Even though this device seems to be for people with paralysis, it gives me hope for technology helping people with all sorts of medical problems. :)

  • @DangerKitty

    I dearly wish I had the money to buy my father one of these. Since the past few Christmas eves, his years in a wheelchair began to outnumber his years without one, having been shot in the spine in his 30's. Since the muscles in his lower back and buttock aren't strong enough to support his weight on crutches, he's been confined to a wheelchair for half his life. Just to be able to see him able to walk around at 6'2 instead of roll at 4'3 would be amazing.

    @dosie451 14 лет назад

    It's fantastic,the woman who is interviewed just gives me shivers, but it's going to be the same story. When a wealthy person becomes paralyzed....
    I love this in lieu of a cure (which will also be for the wealthy). All this fine work, for so very few of those in need.
    It just reminds me of what these magicians can do with all of their hardcore study and effort, and how few will benefit from it.

    the only thing I see as a problem, is the batteries needed to run the device, with merging of ideas like the technology that can charge batteries as you walk. The roof for these devices would be unimaginable. It looks amazing, not only the device, but the sheer joy on her face as she walks for the first time in 15+ years. She said it best"I'm not supposed to be in a wheelchair, we are meant to walk".

AS A PARAPLEGIC MYSELF, I FIND THIS TO BE NOT JUST OPTIMISTIC, BUT INSPIRING AS WELL THAT THERE ARE SCIENTISTS AND MANY OTHERS ACTUALLY WORKING ON PROJECTS LIKE THIS. NOW THE ONLY PROBLEM THAT WOULD BE THE BIGGEST HURDLE WITH THIS, IS TO MAKE ACTUALLY AFFORDABLE OR BE ABLE TO BE COVERED BY INSURANCE COMPANIES.
