Lucifer! Update: This series is the perfect combination of writing, characters, and plot & character arcs with season-ending cliffhangers. It's an emotional rollercoaster at times, having you laughing one minute, crying the next, then applauding. Lots of drama as well as plot twists keeps you watching . . .
If you liked Fallout's multiple-plotline/character switching style with big, well crafted universe with it own history and lore, I can recommend The Expanse (also Amazon). It also takes place in a few centuries in the future, but not a paralell universe, it looks like our human civilisation in the future. However, instead of living in garbage because of nuclear apocalypse, In the Expanse, humans colonised the other planets in our Solar System, all the way to the moons of Jupiter and Saturn, and have an ongoing Cold War where the big factions of humanity are always moments away from nuking each other's planets.
It has it's own 'unique universe' style like Fallout in the sense that there's no other show/franchise that is like it.
If you're ok with subtitles, the miniseries Shogun is really good.

In the Fallout Universe, the Reds are the Chinese, who invaded Alaska back in Cooper's time which is why he was stationed in Alaska as a Marine and wore Power Armor during the conflict.

Yes, but Russia still exists in Fallout. In fact, USSR still existed till the Great War (never disbanded). It’s just that China made a move before they did.

I added that the USSR still existed but was smaller and weaker and that the US had annexed Canada and Mexico as a little more context.

Ok this episode makes angry. Every game. Every single game from statements of people to info you find on the US early warning system says China shot first not vault tech. I can only think this was changed so the show didn't tick off real world China. And what the heck did they do to my boy Sinclair. Sinclair is one of the very very few good guys in fallout and because he is a good guy he ends up betrayed at every turn. He didn't have stock in Big MT. Big MT wasn't a corporation they were a government think tank. And they were using Sinclair turning his resort into a test area for their frankly dangerous tech. Also House had no connection to vault tech. He was a brilliant man who predicted the nuclear war and took his own counter measures. This show is absolutely destroying the established lore of New Vegas.

This show caused the “who shot first” debate in the fallout community to start up again. In the show we only know of what vault-tec planned to do and there are unfinished vaults you can explore in fallout 4

The truly sad thing about the brotherhood is its original founder would have most likely been fine with sharing cold fusion, they were originally meant to preserve technology and defend the defenceless but that didn’t last unfortunately.
Yeah, fallout 1 and 2 seemed somewhat neutral leaning good, fallout 3 east coast branch was very much good guys, fallout 4 you see the west coast brotherhood turned into complete a-holes since 2.
@@andrewdemarco3512 yeah 3 had what could be considered the closest to what Roger Maxson originally envisioned for the brotherhood but I think the did get a little lax on the whole searching for tech side of things but I could be misremembering.
Oof that’s very interesting and rings true to real life. Original visions can start out altruistic and then over time become corrupted by other motivations …
@@kanpai_ky Similar thing happened to the NCR (prior to events in the show). They started out very idealistic and focused on having a democratic government. Then they maybe became a little imperialist and started forcing other communities and settlements to join, pay taxes, etc.
I'm certain there's no political commentary in all that, though. 😉
I love the "dark okey dokey". There are so many well placed threads and callbacks. "Will you still want the same things when you are a different animal altogether?" .. as the season closes, we get dark okey dokey, and what appears to be Maximus no longer wanting to be elevated in the brotherhood of steel.

The British Sci-Fi comedy show Red Dwarf also began, in 1988, with an episode called 'The End'. Way down the line they ended series ten with 'The Beginning'. Of course, there's been more of the show since then.
This series finished very strongly and showed game fans a couple of things that should have had us wetting our pants. Namely a Deathclaw skull and the city of New Vegas.
There's only two known ways to have survived since the apocalypse. To have turned into a ghoul or to be put in those stasis pods you first see in Vault 4 on level 12, and later in Vault 31.
In case you haven't figured it out, Vault Tec are arguably the baddest baddies in this world. I think it is a new revelation that they were planning to start the apocalypse themselves. I say planning because I think there's plenty of references here and in the games that they weren't ready for the apocalypse when it hit. So, I think they got surprised and it was probably still China that shot first as is the current lore. But they were always evil as all hell. Experimenting on their own vault dwellers, their own customers, in hideous ways.
So, was it self-fulfilling? Did China get wind that Vault Tec were going to start nuclear war and play the only card they had left?
Bud thinks he's smart. Norm is smart. Norm's going to figure his way out of 31 on his own. Possibly hack a way to open all the pods and threaten Bud with waking all his remaining managers up early. I'm also hoping we get a Nerd Rage from Norm in season 2. Possibly with his sister in danger. When badly injured, a hyper-intelligent character in Fallout can have a perk called Nerd Rage. Time slows for them, damage done is greatly increased. Norm on a Nerd Rage would be great TV.
Oh wow! A Red Dwarf reference! Believe it or not I’m very familiar with that show … I was born in and spent my first 7 years of life in Australia (sadly lost my accent 🤪) and so I know a lot of older BBC shows like that one. Queue the nostalgia ✨

"Who is good, who is bad?" When you play the games you come to realize there is not a lot of straightforward good or bad, but lots of gray. It will be interesting to see how the main characters story arcs finish. There are not many happy endings in the games, I wonder if they will take that same approach with these characters.

Ehhhhhhhhh. That's not really true. In Fallout 1 The Master and his army are pretty unambiguously bad. In Fallout 2 it's The Enclave. Fallout 3 has The Enclave again and adds a new chapter of the Brotherhood that are heroic good guys. Fallout New Vegas has Ceasar's Legion as being the pretty unambiguous bad guys. FO 4 has The Minutemen and The Railroad and pretty unambiguous good guys. There are morally gray factions in the games but the idea that everything is just shades of gray is not really true, every game has factions that are obviously either good or evil, and some of the games have both.
The fact that in the same scene they used "make America great" and "you could lose money running a casino" is a glorious shot fired.

Fun reaction, might I suggest you play Fallout New Vegas. The game takes place in the past so it will give you some backstory and not spoilers. Some have a bit more trouble with this game than others but it's beloved by many. Thanks for letting me tag along on your journey.

Ah! I missed the premier, bummer. But loved your reactions to the whole series! Great fun editing with fun facts etc mixed in. And they introduce me to some fun beers I may not have heard of before.
To the show I’m glad you liked it! It felt like such a great encapsulation of the vibes from the games, with its own fun story in that world. Overall a simple story, but one that opens up with a lot of fun layers.

The amount of foreshadowing in this show was off the chain. The Don’t lose your head poster, Lucy talking Maximus into returning the coil because it’d break her dads heart to destroy a community, Wilzigs speech asking if she’ll still want the same things, etc. Then in the end both max and Lucy got what they wanted and neither wanted what they got. It’s all a master class.

If people were to go back and listen to The reason Barb cites why she did what she did, about 40% of the people will agree with her. She's not evil. The problem for all three world wars is the governments.
There have been three world wars, the last of which lasted 10 years, and the governments were threatening to go to war for a Fourth time using nuclear weapons.

They closed up so many loose ends in this final episode, but I'm still disappointed we never learned how Moldaver survived, and now that she's apparently dead I doubt we'll get her backstory in the next season. And maybe I'm showing my age, but nobody seems to notice that Bud's car is the same one driven by Cousin Itt in the first Addams Family movie.
This show is so well written for being an adaptation of a game series that is essentially "choose your own adventure". The town of Filly, for example, really closely resembles the first town you typically encounter in Fallout 3, except that town is built around a nuke that was dropped but never detonated. In the same way that Filly is completely taken over by the Brotherhood in the show, in the game you get the option detonate the nuke and completely wipe the town from the face of the earth. And yet, even with all those different paths, all the games and the show are canonically set in the same universe.

Regarding Speedway Stout, I totally agree with the Vietnamese Coffee variant being a favorite. I also really enjoy their Hawaiian variant.
One time at AleSmith they had some variants on tap (not available in bottles) and there was one made with Apple brandy or something like that. It wasn’t something I was expecting to be amazing and bam! It was so good and I’m sad it was a one time experience 🥲
And yes, how did Moldaver survive?!
It’s definitely an art to get the writing and story telling done right in a different media and though I don’t know the games, I feel like the show really explored the world built by the games in a way a noob like me can appreciate and spark interest in the games.
My crazy theory is that Barb and their daughter went to one of the "good vaults" while Cooper went to Vault 4 and was an early test subject of the "ghoul" serum, before he escaped.

I think Rose and Moldaver were in a relationship and that was one of the reasons Hank did something.
While Vault-Tec might be willing to drop a bomb to start something, it doesn't mean that they actually did start the war.
Also not sure Hank nuked Shady Sands either. A nuke wouldn't necessarily leave a crater like that and not sure Hank would have access to a nuke. Sabotaging an experiment of Moldaver though, Hank could do that.

I did watch Usher and Wednesday but have not seen One Piece. I know there are A LOT of episodes so it wouldn’t definitely be a commitment, but I hear so many good things about it. I also want to check out Blue Eyed Samurai.

In Fallout the Great War was primarily between China and the US. Note that in this episode they show Vault-Tec was evil enough to start the nuclear war, but not necessarily that they did.

I did a freeze frame on the mystery man in the balcony during the ceo meeting, I adjusted exposure/contrast/etc trying to figure out who it was. I kinda hoped whoever it was was played by Ron Perlman as a nod to the narrator of the game.

Personally I don't want max and Lucy to have a happy ending. That isn't fallout. I would prefer that he grows hardened by him thinking she abandoned him like everyone else in his life. And they end up on opposite sides of a massive conflict and have to realize just how far they have changed. Their ideas, beliefs, and morals have changed to gt to that point. Bt in falloit there is no happiness even in vaults

Aiming to get season 4 episode 1 of The Boys up next Saturday 😃✨
The series correctly identifies the 2 biggest enemies the US has in real life too. China, although they show signs of significant decline now, and the military-industrial complex. When the game first came out, though, China was definitely viewed as the next great superpower. Now the machinations of the military-industrial complex, I think, are clearly the bigger threat to everyone, not just the US.
Note: I don’t use the term “capitalism” because that’s grossly misused in the show, just as “communism” is. In the show, and in real life now, “capitalism” is misrepresented as greed above all else, and corporations controlling the marketplace. Capitalism’s basis is a free marketplace… something I think Moldaver actually supports, but she’s labeled a “communist” as an easy cold-war-style insult that instantly de-legitimizes someone.

Sinclair was one of the few good guys in the series and because he was a good guy he was betrayed and used at every turn. He didn't own stock in Big MT. Big MT wasn't a company it was a government think tank. They used Sinclair. Using his resort to test their tech on humans. House. House had limited connection to vault tech. He was a genius (loosely based on Howard Hughes) who predicted the war coming and took his own counter measures. Vault tech had a very specific reason for their experiments. The enclave had originally planned to abandon earth( the ships weren't finished in time) but the vaults were to test how humans would deal with being locked up on generation ships when traveling to new worlds and to find the best societies for it. This series had been messing with game lore already with some fairly major changes (destroying the NCR, drugs to stop ghouls from going feral etc) however this episode completely rewrites all the games not made by Bethesda.
Oh man I know nothing about the games so I can’t speak to how well or not they paid homage to it and if anything was so egregious as to be disrespectful to the cannon.
@@kanpai_ky the early changes were big but not completely disrespectful depending on how they explained them. But there is a rumor Todd Howard hates New Vegas. It was made by an outside developer that employed a bunch of people that had created fallout (Bethesda bought the fallout IP they didn't create it). And the game they made (New Vegas) is generally considered the best game of the Bethesda era. This episode made me think that rumor might have some truth to it.
They didn't confirm Vault-Tek drop the first bomb in Great War, lol. It was a suggestion. Probably forced by The Enclave. The guy in the shadow right before she suggested the idea.
@@VORASTRA that whole thing makes no sense. Vault tech makes it's money on the fear of war. War itself would actually be unprofitable since it would wipe out their customers.

He grows as a character, and their relationship is genuine. He must feel like crap that it appears tgat either Lucy abandoned him or her dad took him. Either way he wants to go after her to figure out what happened but now he's stuck playing bos politics.

That's an extremely spoilery thumbnail you've got there flashing to anyone happening by on RUclips. You should at least do what they did for that shot in the trailer and censor the NCR sign.
I thought about the thumbnail hard … a majority of the finale reactions have Hank straight up in the power armor suit or the cage in the thumbnail which I found personally to be a heavy spoiler. I thought this scene was significant, but not an upsetting spoiler compared to say, Hank in the power armor.
If this was released weekly, I would feel more compelled to hide anything in the thumbnail, but given all the episodes have been released two months ago now, I think this specific shot is compelling (which is needed for a thumbnail) but not an upsetting give away.
I don’t now if anyone’s thumbnail can be completely spoiler free, but I try my best. This is only my 8th video ever made.
@@kanpai_ky That is true and I've complained to those reactors about those thumbnails as well, but I think, if someone has only watched the first episode, seeing Maldaver looking like a badass in front of a NCR HQ sign is much bigger than "Hank wears power armor". I mean, you generally assume that Lucy will find him, so, out of context, him in power armor isn't that significant.
@@kanpai_ky Hank in power armor ruins the entire scene of explosive betrayal-reveals while Hank is in the cage. And when Maximus releases Hank. All suspense, gone, just anticipation of "howz _that_ gonna happen?".
The NCR banner w/ Moldaver isn't really a spoiler, because we already saw the "flame mother" scene in Vault 4, and there are hints piled upon hints that she's a power center in this region of the wasteland.
I'm sure there are nit-picky reasons that can be rationalized, but I'm allergic to spoilers (including sports I have DVR'ed 🤬), and I saw this thumbnail and...no rash.
