Hi Jay, as usual very easy to follow review. Comprehensive and easy to understand. Thank you. By the way M312 an okay pairing for this bookshelf speaker. Cheers😎👍
The deep bass might be explained from the speakers being sealed and have a shallower roll off versus a steeper roll off from vented enclosure of 6”” woofer bookshelves.
Nice review. You might try "Sound Anchors" stands. They make heavy duty stands in many sizes. They will also make custom and adjustable stands ( even power adjustable). With power adjustable, you may be able to change the height of the speakers from your listening position. Might suggest trying these speakers with a "CROWN" or "BEHRINGER" power amplifier (300-3000 Watts?) and possibly a "Nobsound" passive preamp (AMAZON).
Great review on the Studio 2 speakers. I'm interested in getting a pair, however would pairing with my Naim Unity Nova rating at 80 watts per chanel be possible? Although, I believe Naim rates their amps differently, and perhaps relying more on the quality of delivery which Naim does so well. So....., what would be your thoughts? Is there another explanation, where we could say the Studio-2 speakers would perform well with the Naim Nova? Many thanks
Nice review but it's "Brothers in Arms" by Dire Straits. Also to be honest I haven't seen many woofers move without making any bass, I think you mean make punchy, controlled low end bass that is tight. Anyways really enjoying your channel and content. Cheers :)
Fantastic review, I think you hit it out of the ballpark, thank you! In the pairing section you mention you need high quality amplification. You mention Bryston and possibly Hegel 390, but not so much the 190. Is there an integrated that you would recommend for low to mid level listening?
For a bookshelf speaker, i first thought it made you look like a midget sitting next to it, until you mentioned it's size. ...they're big! The dome tweeter also looks quite large compared with 3/4" or 1" inch dome tweeters, i'm guessing it crosses over lower than normal 2-ways. (2.2'kz or likely less for this larger dome?) & suitable for the deep bass capable bass-mid driver which could struggle reaching up to 3 or more Khz crossover point with accuracy & smoothness if while simultaneously doing large bass excursions. Their price is greatly helped by being an (albeit larger) bookshelf which does not need sub-woofers, these are like having a sub on each side, from your descriptions. P.S. except if you must listen to Bach's organ work's deepest notes from Wuttenberg's Organ with it's 136' ft tallest pipe that hits 16'Hz or is it 14'Hz (?) & flat with it! in which case only that Eminent Technology's guy's sub would properly reach flat ...i.e. the sub that has no dynamic driver but helicoptor type blades where blade speed & pitch angle = frequency & vollume & that goes to low single figure of 3 or 4'Hz & flat, a sub- sub or an infra-woofer(?)
You should check out Regelbau and DJ Sotofett. Very contemporary, well produced stuff. just if you think that all new stuff is extremely bright or something
Excellent review- can't seem to find a frequency response curve or measurements for this speaker. With an 8" woofer, the idea of not having a sub has me suspicious. I have monitors with 8" woofers that can dig deep but even those warranted a sub. Also,. can't help but notice those gorgeous floor-standers behind you. We eagerly await your thoughts good sir!
Wow, 30'Hz is unexpectedly low for what you see. I'm presuming that's at minus 3 or minus 6'db down, as some other manufacturers state as their low end. (3'db down is what vollume an amp of half the wattage would give from the same signal) but that's pretty darn good for speakers of this size. I always normally liked larger speakers as they seem to give a better sound at low vollumes which is a major point for me. I think i'd like these very much so from your description of their sound. A speaker where a sub was too much ...excellent!
@@Jayiyagi for me they are almost too much in the bass region on certain tracks, denzel curry for instancs, so these are even more bass heavy, wow they require a larger room or some excellent pairing i guess
I really get a kick when most of you young guys call a speaker like this a bookshelf. Who in their right mind would actually position these in a bookshelf? Maybe I'm showing my age and here, but years and years ago there was such a thing as STAND-MOUNT speakers. These fall into that category. Now I know darn well that you know this Jay, so why not name this type of speaker for what it is, along with models like the Wharfedale Lintons, or the Evo 4.2, and numerous JBLs, ect... You know what I mean. Any speaker that's taller than 13''-14'' have no place on any bookshelf, hell, as far as I'm concerned, most speakers belong on dedicated well made sturdy stands to get the best possible sound out of them.
Dude, if the woofers are moving and you don't hear the sound it is because the sound is outside of your hearing range. If the membrane is moving it is producing a sound, it is just the way nature works, it is nothing personal. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Of course there is sound above whatever frequency the speaker can produce. If the woofers are moving and there is no sound under a "certain frequency." It means the drivers cant dip down that low. I am not saying the drivers move but make no sound at all... That would be drivers or my ears pooched
Okay, yes, thanks for clarifying that, you explained it well now. I thought that in the video you were saying that no sound at all was coming out of the functioning and moving drivers. 👍
The Bassotronics "Bass I Love You" track is not my cup of tea - musically bland, and the bass seems gratuitous. Peter Gabriel, London Grammar, Billie Eilish, Alt-J, Beyonce (Black Parade), Loreena McKennitt, and Saint-Saëns Symphony No 3, are my bass references, among others.
You said these were expensive...how much are they? And, in the future could you please mention the price at the start of the review? Your reviews are excellent but salivating over a component only to find it way out of my price range is annoying.
@@Jayiyagi Maybe just in a moment thing, but her screaming-style singing really drove me crazy at that moment. Sorry for the fuss. Her voice has great potential though.
Hey, although a great review, I took issue with your take on "modern music." I'm not exactly sure what you are categorizing as modern music, but regardless the statement seems to be a gross generalization that is simply not reflective of reality. The thought of someone being an audiophile where they spend thousands of dollars in order to enjoy music to its fullest but doesn't like or listen to any modern music is simply insane. Are you categorizing just what is played on the radio as "modern music'? There are so many exceptionally recorded modern albums like A Moon Shaped Pool - Radiohead, Windswept Adan - Ichiko Aoba, James Blake - Self Titled, Space is Only Noise - Nicolas Jaar, and literally anything by Daft Punk. There are so many incredibly well-recorded modern albums and for you to claim listening to "modern music" makes you want to kill yourself is an embarrassing level of elitism that only serves to indicate ignorance, stupidity, and most of all calls into question your opinion on music and audio as a whole.
Glowing review of an aluminum cone Dayton sub with it’s huge mass and huge cone resonance in midrange crossed to a 1” dome tweeter. I’m sorry but pleasantly tubby or not there’s no way this is even remotely true to the source, it’s gonna measure like a smiley face with fangs. Sadly cabinets are also prefab with screwed on baffles. If you love these, great. But know what you’re spending $3800 on.
To be fair, those drivers will go out to 2k very smoothly but then roll of quite quickly. I have them in my system but I only use them to 200 hz. I did try them to 1500 hz and they sounded fine. I wouldn't go higher and there are better drivers for that range.
Its COST. THEY DON'T GO THE EXTRA DISTANCE BECAUSE IT COST MORE. WHAT A JERK COMPANY. ITS ALWAYS ABOUT COST. THATS WHY ON OLD TVS THEY WENT FROM A BIG CHANNEL CHANGER TO JUST A REMOTE BECAUSE A CHANNEL CHANGER IS $20.00 AND A REMOTE CHIP IS 20CENTS.

Gershman makes my favorite speakers, regardless of price. They really are fantastic speakers.
🎶👌
@Matt man Stenheim!!!
@Matt man Wilson audio doesnt come close. Gershman acoustics sounds way more natural then any other speakers out there!
I don't comment often - but - you are living proof that you can have brains and looks together!!! Great video!!
Ooooo 8" sealed. My first speakers were like that, had great bass tone. Celestion Hadley I miss them often.
Good review! I really like that you tell us how the speaker sounds with different listening levels, and that you suggest amp pairings that work well.
I love Fuller range speakers like these ❤
Gershman Acoustics designed custom, outstanding stands for the Studio 2

Thats looks like a Dayton audio rf I forget all the numbers but I just figured out it can be crossed over at 1500 hz its actually a subwoofer

Fantastic review brother, keep up the good work. Can you please review the Legacy audio Studios HD?
Have u reviewed the elac reference in ur thumbnail
It looks like a subwoofer because it is a 8 inch dayton subwoofer driver. It is a subwoofer + 1 inch tweeter.
My thoughts exactly. I could tell it was a subwoofer driver immediately.

Can you Review the RTR Eviction Series Ev15 ?
