Headache over a broken washer, 1 day, searching internet and came upon this video, 30 minutes, fixing the washer based on your instruction, 20 minutes. Being a hero to my wife, priceless. Thank you so much for posting this instruction video.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video!!! My washer is working again and it cost us only $13.00 instead of hundreds if I had to call a repair man. Cute kitty too!! I truly appreciate you taking the time to film this for all of us in need.
I begged my husband to fix the washing machine for 2 months while I took our whole families clothes to the laundry mat. Decided to see if I could do something, came across your video, purchased the product & BAM I have a washing machine again!!!! Awesome instruction & detail. Thank you SO SO much!!
6 years after this clip was posted and it’s still super useful. Thank you so much for the help! Overloaded my washer like an idiot…. Got the LE error…. Opened the back up to check out the belt. There’s no belt inside. Quick search. found this clip. Ordered part. 15 minute fix! So pleased. Thanks again!
I always appreciate the help and instructions from the people out there to give us a little edge on saving money and time. I'm always checking youtube before I make the call for outside help. Thanks again and keep on doing what your doing.
Thanks dude. I replaced the motor rotor last year and figured the machine didn't know where the drum was. I could turn over the drum while the machine was on using a ratchet, and the machine would turn for a short while and quit. Perfect!
Thanks so much for posting! So far so good. Washer was only out of commission for a couple days thanks to your video and quick Amazon delivery. I don’t want to make this too long but just want to mention that my washer had a slightly different part number and one a couple sites I went to were saying it would not be compatible. My advice to others is just to get the part number on the part itself and go for it.
Wish it had make it for me, love the easy fixes but now I have no clue what to do next to fix my Kenmore washing machine… LE code again, nothing changed. Great video though and it sure helped a lot of people reading the comments!
Hey Max. Thank you so much. This worked perfectly for me. A note to anyone struggling with removing the motor cover... it’s magnetized. Just wiggling it a bit and it’ll come right off.
Thanks! Worked perfectly. There's a reason this video has so many views. Things I learned: The center bolt everyone talks about had locktite on my Kenmore Elite. It took a wrench and a hammer for me to get it loose, and even then it fought coming out the whole way. The hubcap like cover is held on by a ring of magnets, so you're fighting more than just that central gear holding it in. Pulling while wiggling got it loose. The several screws inside were also locked into place, but once snapped loose came out easily. Putting everything back together was the easiest part of the whole thing.
Thank you for watching and sharing some tips on the process, Ethan! Many people who comment had problems with the area of taking it apart, so your input will be much helpful for those who are in the beginning of the fix!
Same experience with the bolt, thanks for giving me the courage to really torque it! Another thing I noticed with the elite is that the wiring harness is screwed down really close to the rotor. I took out a few of the harness restraints and it really helped when I removed the rotor, it didn't have to hang from the wiring. Those connectors were really stubborn, and having 2 hands free to unhook them was helpful.
Ethan, I just fixed my Kenmore Elite with the same problem. Thanks for mentioning the magnets around the cover. I learned from another video you need a 17 mm socket to remove that bolt, and a 10 mm socket for the screws under/inside the hubcap.
OMG. Thanks a lot!!! I fixed it. I watched the video and decided to try. My husband was very skeptical about it, especially when he saw what came in the package 😂. He couldn’t believe that such a small part will make any difference. He was sure that we need to call a professional. But nope. It worked. I did it. Thanks a lot!!!
Sir, thank you so much for posting this video! I fixed my machine on my own today and it cost me $25 & about 3hrs. You have no idea how grateful I am to you-thank you again!!!!!!
Thank You for the video. Save me some money from buying a new washer. I bought the part from Amazon and made sure the seller was from LG. Amazon does sell fake parts and they can't control that. Amazon is great on the delivery time but they can't guarantee the product's authenticity. Really thanks again for the video.
Awesom video once I muted the song. The only difference between the video and my Kenmore was the bolt was incredibly tight and hard to loosen and others should know the motor cover is lined with large magnets so it is a bear to pull off. I used the old school pounding method to jiggle the magnets loose.
Hey Gary. Thank you for letting me know. Glad it worked for you. I also bought mine in 2010. I disconnect it out of outlet now though, when not using it, as I feel having it plugged in makes the electronic go crazy even when it is turned off. If you notice any strange behavior with your washer that is my advice - to not have it plugged in the outlet unless using it. :)
Max, thanks for the info. I purchased the sensor 6501KW2002A for $13 and it arrived the next day. It took 30-55 minutes to do this repair, and it fixed the problem. More details for others: I have an 8 year old Kenmore model 796.4138 washing machine. Two years ago I had an appliance repair company replace the Stator assembly and got the same LE error at the time. The repair including the stator and sensor, together called the stator assembly cost about $300 with parts and labor. What I have deduced after talking with a couple of people is the Stator assembly, which consists of 2 parts the Stator (big coil of wire on plastic wheel) and the sensor 6501KW2002A are typically replaced together because there is no way for the repair technician to test and positively confirm the $13 sensor is bad when he is in the field. And because they have to remove the stator anyway to get access to the sensor, the techs are forced to replace both the Stator and sensor together. There is very little that can go wrong with the stator, it's just a coil of wire which connects to a wiring harness which connects to the circuit board. The tech I talked to this weekend said he replaces the stator assembly regularly but the sensor is the bad component. The difference in material is $13 for the sensor and $200-300 for the Stator Assembly. Labor to replace either one is exactly the same. This tech said he never orders a sensor by itself and he only gave up the info after I probed him with facts and details. If you get the LE error I Highly Recommend this part and the less than hour to replace. Frankly, I'm going to buy a spare so I have this sensor for the future.
Thank you for sharing the info here, John! I know many people with that problem will find it helpful! Glad you were able to fix the problem and back to normal.
I just started getting this error on my Kenmore Elite Front Loader so I'm going to see if I can fix it myself... thanks so much for the video! Also, loved that your Orange fur supervisor was on-site to inspect your work... gives me confidence this job was done right 🍻
I have 2 possible ideas. The first - might be a flaw in the electronics design that make the sensor go bad in so many customer cases. The Second - Bad electricity wiring/settings in your/my house when the voltage fluctuates beyond safe boundaries and again the electronics design flaw is not protecting against it. To be safe I now have the washer plugged into the outlet through a Grounded Outlet Plug Adapter with a turn on/off switch. I turn off the electricity off after each wash so the machine is not plugged in when not working. I also brought an electrician to check the amount of voltage coming into my house and they did admit it was 124V instead of 120V. It is a bit high but within the allowed boundaries. But since I do think the washer electronics has a design flaw I keep it unplugged when not in use.
@@tetmax thanks for this comment. I would have fixed this myself, but since I'm disabled now from a stroke I couldn't. I sent this video to my wife and to our maintenance man. She bought a new machine that day only to find it didn't fit in our space...maybe it can still be saved. If it works I'll get her to put the machine on a switch. Thanks again for the great video!
Greatly appreciate the helpful video! I was able to order the part online and replace it myself. More importantly, I didn’t have to leave the house or call for repair this week...The laundry was starting to back up with two kids in the house!
Thank you, saved me a ton of $. But that bolt holding the “rotor” on was thread sealed on mine so I had to use a hammer on the wrench since the tub was still rotating and I didn’t have an impact driver in the laundry room. And I needed a gear puller to pull it off. Good thing I had one. Anyway, thank you again Sir!
Glad the video was helpful and you were able to overcome the problematic bolt issue, Bill! Many people commented here that they had hard time dealing with it so it was great you were able to resolve it your way! Peace and Love! 😊😊😊
Great video and I like that you said to check the wires first, in my case I replaced the sensor first only to later discover I had a wire burnt all the way through. I patched it temporarily and then ordered a new wiring harness which was only $25.
Thank you, Cam Maurer! Yes, lots of times the simplest thing can cause the problems. I am glad you fixed it eventually! ... and the sensor can be saved for any future problems. Looks like the washers have a weak link - those sensors. :)
Hi Max... Thanks for making this video. I had followed a few other troubleshooting videos that gave me some direction on where to start looking for the issue that was causing the LE error. By testing and process of elimination it seemed like the position sensor was the issue. I called a parts store and ordered the part... When it arrived it was the same part number that you showed in the video. Anyway I changed and voila, it is working now. Thanks so much and wanted to let you know that you helped this household. My wife is very happy that it is fixed!
Max.
Awesome video, worked well. One caveat, the part number ends in either 2001A or 2002A. Luckily, I ordered both and the second one work. Saved me some money though, props.
Fixed my LE error on my Kenmore 796.48842800. Exact same part number as in the video. I wasn’t careful and broke one clip on the side of the connectors on the motor but everything appears to be working fine. Thanks for the video!!
@@tcranger1 It takes some pulling! The washer motor cover houses magnets that hold onto the copper portion you see in the video. You really have to play with it, pulling first on one side, and then the other. It will come off.
Hey! Thanks for asking! I am not a trained technician, just posted my video to show how I fixed it personally. However, if it was me, I would try to just install the new sensor, and if does not fix it investigate deeper. Good luck!
at 1:40 you take off that first big wheel. I'm having a hell of a time taking it out after removing the center bolt. Is there another part that needs to come over before the whole piece does?
Hey Jastin! Sorry to hear you having hard time removing the big wheel. Answering your question no, there was no any other part that I removed, so you need to shake and move it around slightly trying to let it go. Just be patient and do not break something while removing it. Check if there is any rust on it may be you need to loosen it with some lubricant. Good luck!
Hello dear, thanks for this interesting video but I have a question, my LG washing machine gives LE error not for all modes, on the 13 mins rinse mode it will work normally. For every mode that includes washing and needs to take washing powder it will give the error and not work. Might it be a clog in the passage of water from the powder position that prevents water from going to the water jar? is this also a reason for that and I need to replace the position sensor or it is another case? I mean it should give this error on all washing modes before replacing this position sensor? I hope you reply me.
Hello Hussein Shamiyi, I am not a professional to help you with your questions. If it was me, I would simply try to replace the sensor and see what would happen. That is actually what I did and shown in this very video. In the worst case you will lose the small amount of money for the sensor. Good luck!!!
You are looking to order Part#: 6501KW2001A (Washer Motor Rotor Position Sensor). But please check the manual and the web site for your washer model to make sure you are ordering a proper part!
This video shows how I fixed my KENMORE Washer (Model: 796.40021900) - saving myself a very good amount of money not calling for a service man - they gave me an estimate of a few hundred dollars to fix it!!! The new part cost me $26.53 (plus $7.99 shipping). I could have been able to get it twice as cheap on eBay but decided to order from the manufacturer directly to make sure the part is 100% fine. You are looking to order Part#: 6501KW2001A (Washer Motor Rotor Position Sensor). But please check the manual and the web site for your washer model to make sure you are ordering a proper part. OMG. THATS MY EXACT MODEL TOO! YAAAYYY! Umm I have an accompanying noise with mine too when I tried a empty steam cycle. Only when spinning... Is that normal?
It depends on why it is stuck. If it is due to rust some anti rust sprays can help if it is due to being screwed extra tight need to get a good grip and hold tight the motor to unscrew it. In any case hope you will be able to handle it!
Good evening Max. I am getting the LE error code on our washer that is similar to yours. I can start a wash cycle and the drum turns in one direction but won't turn in the opposite direction. It seems a though there is a motor lock issue. Is this the same behavior you were seeing with your machine? Could the rotor position sensor be the issue in my case?
Hello cwsrad . It started similar way in my case. After rebooting (turning off/on once or several times) it would eventually go through the cycle, but soon it stopped going through and was getting stuck in one position. After doing a research it was obvious that fixing it through the Sears would cost me nearly the same amount of money as buying a new washer, so I decided to give it a shot and replace the part myself - the part I listed in the description. If you decide to go the same path wish you luck in fixing your washer. :)
Hello Sergio! Thanks for visiting! I suspect yes, but do not know the answer to your question for sure, because I am not professional and simply share my experience on YT. If it was me, I would search the answer on the Internet and if I did not find any answer, I would open Kenmore 796 and check the sensor inside there, then would order that exact sensor (or analog - they have catalogs at Sears Parts for example where they say which parts can work for which model). Then I would install the sensor and saw if that worked. This way I would lose $7-10 for the sensor if it does not work, but would save tons of money if that worked. )))
It takes some effort to level the washer so it is not shaking. Look for instructions on how to level the washer properly, Brandon. I am sure your washer has adjustable, front-leveling legs with locking nuts.
So my washer tries to spin but gets a half turn and makes a winding noise and I get LE.. Is it possible it's sensor or is it likely it's the motor? To add context we just stored it in storage unit for 6 months and that's what caused my issues
Hello Ross. I am not a professional in this area I just share what I personally fix myself on YT, however, based on your description, it sounds exactly like what I had with my washer prior the fix, so if it was me making the decision, I would definitely try the fix. In the worst case you will lose the cost of that inexpensive (compared to a pro help or a purchase of new appliance) part.
My problem is that I tried to loosen the nut but it is very tight and the drum rotates. How can I loosen it so easy or what can I do so it doesn't spin the drum. Thank you
Unfortunately, there is no unique way to do it properly. I am going to release a new video where I came up with my way of loosening a bathtub drain nut. But that method will not work for you. You need to fix the drum and not break or damage any part of it. Go to a hardware store and ask for any spray that will help loosing the nut and try to use chemicals first. If that won't solve it then look for a way to fixate the drum without damaging it. Good luck!
I wish I had seen this before going out and buying a new one. Actually, I didn’t buy it the man of the house did. Still now what are we supposed to do with the old one. Also, do you have any advice for the part at the top where the paint has worn off and turned a little rusty? I want to sell it as is maybe someone can fix it and make some money.
I use white toothpaste to polish little scratches and blemishes on my washer and dryer. It works perfect. You just have to vigorously work it in. But this method was used on small areas and without any rust - just metal underneath. Not sure how it is going to work on rusty areas. You can still try and see or if does not work google up for any tips on the Net. Good luck with everything and thank you for commenting! 😊😊😊😊
Can anyone confirm if their washer was making a grinding noise and unable to spin before this repair ? I have error code LE but also a nasty grinding sound a few seconds after starting it up. It fills and drains fine, just can’t spin... however it does spin manually by hand when I stick hand inside drum.
Hello Tay! I never thought about it. I guess the bolt on my washer was not rusty as most washer have and with a sharp and short pull it was moving before gave the motor the spinning motion.
@@tetmax thanks for your reply. I did mistype. At 1:49 in the video, you are removing the driver motor. Are you using socket or nut driver with your drill to remove the nut? I tried using 10mm socket as well as 3/8" nut driver with my drill, but I can't remove the it. I am wondering what is the accessory that use to remove that nut at 1:49
@Senthil Sabesan. I used a socket. I do not remember the exact figure but I do think it was 10mm one. The nuts on the video were rust free and they removed pretty easily but I definitely can relate to your problem and would recommend you a trick I came up with and used many times with a great success. You need to reduce the drill resistance setting by moving the clutch to a lower gear position. When you find 'the borderline' clutch position (it's when the drill starts applying enough pressure to turn the nut a little bit and then go into a few skipping cycles) the nut will start moving. Hope this works for you and the nuts will be removed fine. Good luck!
How did you loosen the spindle bolt you removed first with a crescent wrench. My is on tight and haven't figured out a way to hold the drum/spindle in place (it just turns) while I try to loosen the bolt. Did you us and impact wrench on it?
Mine was not that old or rusty but still a hard one to do as I remember. I used regular wrench as seen on the video. Just did a very short - sudden effort on it to start it moving. May be you can put some oil or WD-40 or any other thing on it for a while to make it more yielding.
Thanks for your replay Max. I finally got it loose and my washer is working nicely now. Items tried: 1) Put few drops of PB Blaster on the bolt mating surface, let it soak 30 minutes and then used my air compressor impact wrench ... surprisingly no luck. But, my compressor is small and only get about 70 lbs of torque, 2) Put a 20" steel tube over my socket wrench for more leverage. I held the drum in place and my wife used the wrench and broke the bolt lose! Dried Locktite was on the threads. Put one drop on threads near bolt head when reinstalling.
I did all this exactly... error went away but now it's making a noise like grinding/dragging did I miss a part or not push it back all the way? Please help
Sorry to hear about your issue, Mary! I am not a professional to advise you. Mine was making that 'grinding/dragging noise' you describe right prior my fix and it was obviously not a missed part because the washer was never opened before. So, as I understand my washer noise came from the bad sensor itself. If it was me, I would definitely checked on the missed part and also made sure the replaced sensor was the proper type and installed properly. It may be you did not install it properly or it was a wrong type of the replacement or a bad sensor (not functioning replacement). Did you get your replacement from a reputable supplier or just purchased it from someone on eBay? I would check on the installation and missed parts first, then called the supplier and made 100% sure they sent the right sensor for the model. When you deal with a proper - good supplier - they ask for your washer exact model and tell you which sensor to order. If they claimed they shipped the right part - I would ask them to send a new one as the one they sent may be a bad - not functioning one! If the problem was still there, I would finally call for a trained help or would replace the washer. Hope my line of thoughts was logical and will help you somehow to fix the problem. I wish you good luck!
I also have a Kenmore front load washing machine..just like the one in this video. LE error code keeps coming on but before it does there’s some sort of clanking noise. Is that normal for the LE code?
Hello! You need to contact the washer manufacturer. This particular model cannot operate without the sensor. If you have a different model it may be located in a different place, but again only the manufacturer can help you with the right direction.
Max, I have a Kenmore model 796.4138 and got the same LE error 2 years ago. The local repair company diagnosed the Motor Stator Assembly, which as you know is the round plastic/cooper unit. And, they replaced the entire assembly which came with the $10 sensor premounted on the assemble. So, here we are 2 yrs later and I'm getting the same LE error and same behavior. So, I purchased the sensor you recommended below which delivers from Amazon tomorrow and will try the swap. However, in your experience do you see the wiring harness or assembly coil ever failing?? I'm guessing the repair company took the easy route and replaced the entire assembly which cost $200-300 parts/labor vs. just doing the sensor for $10 + labor. Thoughts?
Hey John! I am not a technician, just a person owning the washer. I own and use it for 14 years. During that time I replaced the sensor 2 times (the first time is shown in this video) and also replaced a power plate that I also filmed last year but not uploaded yet. Other than those repairs, it was working fine. The only thing that I did some time ago was I started using a power switch that I turn on only during the wash time. So, the washer (unlike the dryer of the same model) stays disconnected from the power source when not in use. I think this washer model (even when off) is still getting electric flow when the power cable is connected and that makes the sensor and other electronic inside to go bad. As for repair companies I think (like with auto mechanics) most of them will do whatever is easier or more profitable for them without caring about your money. Of course it does not mean it was your particular case. It is still possible they fixed the part that was really broken. Hope your Amazon sensor replacement will work for you!
Max, you can read my reply above to the sensor vs Stator assembly replacement above. But wanted to expand on the power switch comment you made. So I talked to a tech and he said very good concept and makes sense in many situations. However, with the Kenmores he said the stator is a brushless DC (direct current) design and not suspetial to the variations in AC power. Also, there is a capacitor that blocks and filters the power, protecting the circuit board and sensor, something you only get with a high quality product. Regardless, I like the idea. Also this tech said the 2 most common issues with the Kenmores is #1 Stator Assembly with sensor the real problem and the pump because nobody ever cleans the pump filter. So, my wife and I laughed, checked our pump filter (on bottom left of washer) and it was about 30-40% plugged after 8 years. The tech said this will make the pump run harder and longer to pump the required amount of water and therefore fail faster. Check your filter!!! Thanks for creating such a great post!!! @@tetmax
Hey John! Thanks for the info. I do check the filter once in a while. I also had a problem with Noise Filter Assembly recently. Just posted a video about it a few days ago. It is an easy fix and I fixed it intuitively without even reading about it. Check it out in case something similar happens to your unit in the future: ruclips.net/video/9FZftrmPK_g/видео.html
Yeah well, I have a wm0642hw and it turned out the problem was the braided anti leak stainless steel hoses, these evident have some kind of valve in them and the water pressure in my house stopped the hose up.. same 1E, lE error.. figured this out after having swapped out the sensor. Swapped in rubber supply hoses and I was good to go.
Max Tetsoshvili well I got the error after swapping out the sensor, so probably returning the old sensor wouldn’t have solved the problem like the new hoses did
Hey Bill! Sorry to hear it! I am not a trained professional but I would check on 3 things. 1. See if you inserted the sensor properly. There are 3 holes - each needs one pin in - so make sure it is sits on the exact same spot as the one that is to be replaced. 2. May be the new sensor is not good. Did you get it from a trustful seller? 3. Disconnect the power, press and hold the power button - to make sure all electric static inside is gone, then re-plug it in and re-try. That may help. Those are the common troubleshooting steps I would take before googling up for more info.
Will this work for model 41382410? Sears direct tried pushing me to replacing the whole motor and that replacing just the sensor with an aftermarket once will only cause more problems. Everywhere I’ve looked has said to just replace the sensor. Will this work with my model stated above? Thanks again!
Hello Gymjunki! Thank you for your question! Unfortunately, I am not a trained professional to help you with that question. When I was searching for my part I just looked it up on Internet. Also, if you cannot find it anywhere, just open up the washer and remove the broken sensor to check the numbers on it, then order similar. Just take a picture of it before you remove it or film it - so, when you set the new one - you know the exact spot and the way it should be settled in. In any case the low cost of the sensor worth giving it a shot. Hope my answer will be helpful.
Thanks for visiting, John! You need to look at your particular washer code list to determine the possible reasons for the code appearing on your model. If you are not sure what to do you need to bring a trained technician to fix it. In my case it was the the position sensor. But again I could have been wrong replacing it and I knew there was a chance me loosing the little money I spent for the sensor comparing to spending 10 times more just to bring a technician in to take a look! So, I took a chance and my washer is still functioning fine. Hope my answer helps.
Hello Maychelle Valerio. I am not sure - it depends on the error the machine shows on the display. Notice the error and check your manual for the error codes to define what the reason is.
What can I do if I can get the nut off the back of the motor? I got all the little screws and panel off, but I cannot get the one nut off to get to the motor to change out the magnet. I put WD40 on it to loosen it up, but it is still stuck. help!
I have a question and hope someone can answer! My husband tried this repair and it removed the LE error code. But now the washer won’t spin completely. It sound halfway, then makes an “errrrr sound”, as if it is trying to spin but can’t go further than what it has. Any solutions or ideas as to what might be wrong?
Hello! Sorry to hear about your problem! I am not an expert in that area, so please remember that when deciding what to do next! What you describing, sounds exactly like what my washer was doing prior the fix I showed in the video. Starting the cycle OK and then making the "errrrr" sound. If it was me I would question if the replacement part I used was working. Did you get it from a legitimate supplier or it was someone selling a used part on eBay? If there is any doubt on it get a part that you 100% sure is good. Also, make sure you replaced it properly - inserted it in as you should and did not forget any steps (parts) in assembling everything back. If what I mentioned is all checked. Research more on the subject. If nothing helps call for a professional help on fixing it. Hope my input was helpful! If not, may be someone with more knowledge will answer here for you. Good luck!

My washer shows le code amd wont spin, so I took the motor out to try and replace the motor sensor and turns out there is no sensor on my motor, why not?
Sorry to hear that! I am not a professional so cannot recommend you anything useful. I would check the manual for the washer to see what the error means. Hope you find the answer/help somehow.
How did you know it was a bad sensor that needed to be replaced? I'm getting same error message and would love the fix to be this easy but the manual just mentioned a "motor problem"
Hello! I found that info on Internet by googling different help documents. Based on my research that error for my washer type was a bad sensor. As I explained in the video description I decided to give it a try. And it worked for me and many other people who commented under the video.
Hello. My washer was doing that kind of noise before stopped working. It was giving me the LE error though, so I suspected it was the sensor in my case. Does it stop working with the LE error or just making the noise but runs the cycle all the way through in your case?
It sounds like what I had. I also had water staying in the drum because the washing cycle was not finished. So, I decided spending $30 is worth giving it a shot and it works fine 3+ years after I shot the video.
@@tetmax Sad to say but sounds like my Bearings are done... Wish i could find a Video as good and detailed as this one for bearings repair.. it was worth the try thanks 👍🏽

Thanks dude. I replaced the motor rotor last year and figured the machine didn't know where the drum was. I could turn over the drum while the machine was on using a ratchet, and the machine would turn for a short while and quit. Perfect!
Great to hear good news from you, Jeff! Glad you were able to resolve your problem and the video gave some help! 😊😊😊
Thank you for commenting and for passing your advice,
Jason!!! 😊😊😊
Wish it had make it for me, love the easy fixes but now I have no clue what to do next to fix my Kenmore washing machine… LE code again, nothing changed. Great video though and it sure helped a lot of people reading the comments!
Sorry to hear that, Eric! Did you purchase the sensor part from a reputable seller?
Hey Max. Thank you so much. This worked perfectly for me. A note to anyone struggling with removing the motor cover... it’s magnetized. Just wiggling it a bit and it’ll come right off.
Thank you for commenting Mark! Glad it worked for you and you found a good way of removing the cover!!! 😊😊😊😊😊
Thank god for this comment!!
this video saved me $700. Perfect instructions, easy to read and understand, made the whole thing simple. Thank You!
I am glad to hear it, Joshua! Thank you for sharing! It makes me happy to know the video was helpful!!! 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
A HUGE thank you, Max! You saved me much time and $$ with your video. I spent $12 on Amazon for the sensor and 30 minutes to replace it. You DA MAN!
Thank you. I had the same washer, but a different product number 6501KW2002A. My first time ever fixing one, and it worked. Thank you so much.
I had exactly the same experience, but mine is an LG. Every single bit looks identical tho. Part. no. is also the same. Weird.
The only difference was the part. My part was slightly different. I ordered by the number showing on the part in my washer machine.
Hello Lika Melik-Eganova! Glad you were able to fix it on your own! Peace and Love!!! 😊😊😊😊
Sir, thank you so much for posting this video! I fixed my machine on my own today and it cost me $25 & about 3hrs. You have no idea how grateful I am to you-thank you again!!!!!!
Glad it helped, Jenilee Arnson! Thank you for leaving such a complimentary comment! )))))
Thank You for the video. Save me some money from buying a new washer. I bought the part from Amazon and made sure the seller was from LG. Amazon does sell fake parts and they can't control that. Amazon is great on the delivery time but they can't guarantee the product's authenticity. Really thanks again for the video.
Glad it was helpful, Chris Jung!!! 😊😊😊😊😊
Awesom video once I muted the song. The only difference between the video and my Kenmore was the bolt was incredibly tight and hard to loosen and others should know the motor cover is lined with large magnets so it is a bear to pull off. I used the old school pounding method to jiggle the magnets loose.
Thank you Max. $12 well spent. Total 45 minutes of my own labor and now works great again. I hope I can get five more years out of it. Bought in 2010.
I'll take that advice.
Thank you! Just performed this fix and after running short cycle my washer is working again. Perfect video for this fix. Thanks!
Thank you for your kind comment, Kevin! Glad you were able to fix it! 😊😊😊
You're welcome Max. Thanks again for helping others who experienced this same issue.
I just started getting this error on my Kenmore Elite Front Loader so I'm going to see if I can fix it myself... thanks so much for the video! Also, loved that your Orange fur supervisor was on-site to inspect your work... gives me confidence this job was done right 🍻

Works! Try this FIRST!!
This video was a lifesaver for me. Worked perfectly. Fixed my machine for $19. Took less than 30 min to fix it. Thanks again.
I am glad you fixed it on your own without wasting big money! Thanks for commenting!!! 😊😊😊
@@tetmax Do you have any idea what would cause the sensor to fail in the first place?
@@charlesbireland1780, sorry to hear about your condition! I hope you will recover and get better! Thank you for visiting!
Elite level video. Simple and entertaining. Saved me $1000. Thank you!
Greatly appreciate the helpful video! I was able to order the part online and replace it myself. More importantly, I didn’t have to leave the house or call for repair this week...The laundry was starting to back up with two kids in the house!
Great to hear your story, David! I am happy to know it was helpful for you and your family! 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you! Got part for ten bucks, hardest part about this was to find specific part for my Kenmore washer. I selected right.
Hey, Erich Fredricks! I am glad it worked for you! Thanks for letting me know! I love to hear those kind of news! )))
Hi. The Kenmore I have the same error LE code but how do you know the specific model number since I don’t have the manual anymore. Thanks

Hi Ron! Thanks for letting me know that it worked for you! It makes my day to hear the video was helpful in any way! )))

at 1:40 you take off that first big wheel.

Hi! Any clue on how to unscrew the first middle bolt on the motor cap? It is extra stuck, unable to turn, not at all like the vid... Thanks!
It depends on why it is stuck. If it is due to rust some anti rust sprays can help if it is due to being screwed extra tight need to get a good grip and hold tight the motor to unscrew it. In any case hope you will be able to handle it!
@@tetmax thanks for your time!
Hello cwsrad
Hi, do you think this solution work also for other model , for example the Kenmore 796?
Hello Sergio! Thanks for visiting! I suspect yes, but do not know the answer to your question for sure, because I am not professional and simply share my experience on YT.
If it was me, I would search the answer on the Internet and if I did not find any answer, I would open Kenmore 796 and check the sensor inside there, then would order that exact sensor (or analog - they have catalogs at Sears Parts for example where they say which parts can work for which model). Then I would install the sensor and saw if that worked. This way I would lose $7-10 for the sensor if it does not work, but would save tons of money if that worked. )))
Merci beaucoup
You are welcome!
I bought a used washer it works but it shakes when it go really fast.it kinda stops but.my floor is wood so it might be the floor or is it the shocks
It takes some effort to level the washer so it is not shaking. Look for instructions on how to level the washer properly, Brandon. I am sure your washer has adjustable, front-leveling legs with locking nuts.
I love the help of the cat
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Круто. Теперь я знаю что существует пародия на LG
Hello! Yes, that is how it was in my case.
Gracias hermano
How did you keep the motor from spinning while getting the bolt off?
Hello Tay! I never thought about it. I guess the bolt on my washer was not rusty as most washer have and with a sharp and short pull it was moving before gave the motor the spinning motion.
Thanks Sir for a useful info . 🖒
Glad it worked for you, Nedal. Thanks for commenting! :)
Very helpful thxs for everything!!!!

Hey. How socket drill did you use to remove the bolt from driver motor.
Hey. Thanks for visiting, but I did not understand the question. Did you mistype the wording in any way?
Good luck!
Nice video but why did you drain the water? The drain pump has nothing to do with le code or stator and rotor
Thank you, for commenting! I did it because the cycle did not go through - decided to drain it just in case. 😊😊😊😊😊
Yes, that exactly what was happening to mine - the clanking noise!!! ))
Hey I have the same LE code but I have taken everything off and there’s not wiring for the position sensor, what could this be
Thanks for adding to the thread that helpful info. I am curious if you switched to the old sensor would it bring back the LE error or not?
Max Tetsoshvili well I got the error after swapping out the sensor, so probably returning the old sensor wouldn’t have solved the problem like the new hoses did
I see. Well, great that you fixed it on your own and it's working now! :)))
Hey Max
I replaced the sensor and still get le code. Any thoughts on what is wrong?
It moves about six inches then stops abruptly.
I am also getting the LE code. How do you determine that it’s the position sensor and not the stator or rotor?
Thanks for visiting, John! You need to look at your particular washer code list to determine the possible reasons for the code appearing on your model. If you are not sure what to do you need to bring a trained technician to fix it. In my case it was the the position sensor. But again I could have been wrong replacing it and I knew there was a chance me loosing the little money I spent for the sensor comparing to spending 10 times more just to bring a technician in to take a look! So, I took a chance and my washer is still functioning fine. Hope my answer helps.
Hi i just ask if what is the cause why when i put in to wash he automatically stop in 8mins
Hello Maychelle Valerio. I am not sure - it depends on the error the machine shows on the display. Notice the error and check your manual for the error codes to define what the reason is.
from where can i buy the parts?
ebay, amazon, sears... just google
What can I do if I can get the nut off the back of the motor? I got all the little screws and panel off, but I cannot get the one nut off to get to the motor to change out the magnet. I put WD40 on it to loosen it up, but it is still stuck. help!
Just keep on trying it should come off. Hope it works for you.
Good luck!
Did you find your problem? I am having the same issue
Hi
Ordena el sensor correcto
Devuelve ese y ordena otro se
Sensor
Me gustaría poder ayudarte
Can this Faulty sensor be the reason for my washer to make grinding noise on spin??
Hello. My washer was doing that kind of noise before stopped working. It was giving me the LE error though, so I suspected it was the sensor in my case. Does it stop working with the LE error or just making the noise but runs the cycle all the way through in your case?
Yes it stops completely and LE error on the screen
It sounds like what I had. I also had water staying in the drum because the washing cycle was not finished. So, I decided spending $30 is worth giving it a shot and it works fine 3+ years after I shot the video.
@@tetmax Sad to say but sounds like my Bearings are done... Wish i could find a Video as good and detailed as this one for bearings repair.. it was worth the try thanks 👍🏽
