Mod linked in description Chaos Robie once again being a powerhouse when it comes to modding!
A thing of note, if you have MCT you can reduce the amount of minor faction there are on the map, thereby making end turn times faster at least in the start
Chaos Realm settlements should work the same way as Galleons Graveyard. Where, if you're playing a Chaos faction, they function as normal settlements. But if you're playing a non-Chaos faction, they're only one-slot settlements where all you can build is a Lardmark. A monument to your defiance of the Chaos gods.
Seriously, I do not see the appeal for this map except for ultra fans with hard-on for lore.
From the gaming perspective this map is trash. There are turns where you do nothing, just moving somewhere. AI is incentified to wait in settlements because they see you coming for miles and they muster up. Meaning those boring settlements battle last for even longer.
Tha map is also visually pathetic, very low detail, repeating testure of sand or gravel or dirt.
I get that the people want to have more variety, and more factions, but this is not a good way to go about it. There are only few locations, like Eight-peaks, that are fun. The rest of the map bores to death.
Also, the factions are placed in wrong climates. It is bad if your starting provice is half yellow/red climate.
@@Malisman77 "There are turns where you do nothing, just moving somewhere. AI is incentified to wait in settlements because they see you coming for miles and they muster up."
So...like how warfare works then.
No it is CAs fault

My favorite part of this update is the Uzkulak Canal. There is literally a navigable river that armies can travel on that flows UNDER part of the map. I wonder if this will lead to a physical Underway system.
I always thought the underway would be something like in Heroes of Might and Magic, a beautiful cavernsystem going under the world like a network. I also imagined some factions would have the cities there (skaven, Dwarfs, Greenskins (mixed)) while others are on the surface.
@@Legion12Centurion Hell yeah me 2. In TW1 I thought it may happen with Skaven, but they way they shoved the chaos realms in the TW3 RoC map, makes me think the engine just can't handle anything like that. Shame really. I wonder if the old theatres of war from empire is still hanging around in the engine somewhere as that would have worked fine too!
Yea like you enter a mine shaft or something and enter a new theatre with underground map filled with cities, monsters, lost treasures and the ever stunning architectual beauty of dwarfen craft.
@@Legion12Centurion I think that would be a bit much for even the Chaos God of Modding, but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw at least a couple such passages take shape in the future. ChaosRobie has even stated that the mod isn't done yet.
@@jedimasterdraco6950 True, I dont expect modders to make something like this grand we are talking about on there own. This would probably have to be made first by Creative Assembly. Then modderns could repurpose it for creations they make.
Also on the note of you mentioning why players arent enjoying the settlement hoping, i need to remind you that CA intentionally made settlements closer because people were complaining that it took too long to get to settlements
Indeed, as it turns out, gigantic maps like this might be fun for a really dedicated but small portion of the playerbase, but for most people, this is *way too much.*
Nonetheless, I'm happy that CA gave some support to the modders by giving them help on the map-making process to make it possible. This is a wonderful passion project.
People don't know what they want.
That's one issue of the archaic turns system, either you take 1 turn to reach the next town, or several are needed.
Switching to "real-time" like Paradox games, with a new engine, would considerably increase the strategic depth of the game.
I fuckin hate settlement hopping it feels so natural for me I'm not happy. I can tolerate but it really makes the world feel small
And they were right
This map certainly suffers from the distances between settlements
Nobody wants to skip turns walking towards something
3:51 hell, as cool as a 5000 settlement map would be, my adhd would never let me finish a campaign. I do hope Robbie eventually gives the same treatment to the far east and new world areas tho, Lustria and Naggaroth would be so cool if they weren’t so damn squished
Wtff. I can only imagine that effort that went into this. Modders rule! Thanks ChaosRobbie.
The only TW:WH3 content I care about.
Thank you.
And interview with Chaos Robie would be interesting
Ulthran would be a dream project
I found it yesterday, and promptly thanked Robbie on the Steam Workshop page. What an incredible job, and very much appreciated.
Add legendary lords pictures to the selection screen, a proper Chaos Invasion and some more details/ eye candy on the map and I will never go back to regular IE.
There was a time that I hoped CA would bring the maps from Warhammer 1 and 2 into this with the updated factions and mechanics of Warhammer 3 but this is by far much better than I would’ve expected. Was burnt out on the settlement hopping that even IEE suffered
See, this is what we need officially.
Naggaroth, lustria, central lustria, araby, nehekhara, norsca, chaos wastes southland and steppes north of cathay need space.
Double size even. Old world needs some increasing too.
Officially? No, this is too big for a real campaign map. It wouldn't be enjoyable for the majority of the playerbase.
It's a wonderful passion project and I'm glad that CA provided assistance to make it, but it shouldn't be considered to be the kind of map you can play all the time on.
Maybe expand to the jungles in the southlands and have the western coast of ulthuan, just so we can play lizards and elves
Idk if this has been mentioned anywhere, but I wish the modding tools for campaign map making public or at least tell us why there’s no news about an open beta. Anything really to shed some light on the matter.
I know I’d lose days creating my own maps like I used to in the world editor of age of mythology or Warcraft 3.
It’d also be cool if CA could facilitate map creation by giving modders the tools to create theatres of war. That way we could have separate loadable maps and flesh out other continents and even the realms of chaos in all their glory.
this is the type of mod that would make me install the game again
beautiful. hopefully more IEE updates too :D
Great to see that this is being worked on so diligently...now if only I could get it to work on my end
Field battles?
I'm sold!
Only problem I have with this map is that its graphically empty. Even chaos realm are just different texture of land and thats all, no interesting buildings, rocks formations or anything really. Would rather have smaller map which would be more interesting visualy.
RTR is still bigger, it has over 1700 regions
@Janembu hi just curious what is RTR. Thanks in advanced
@@Kingronthegreat a mod for Rome Remastered
@@Kingronthegreat there’s a RUclipsr called Red Zed, he has videos on the mod, and one from about 10 months ago shows just how big the map is and how they are fleshing out factions that had nothing unique about them at the same time.
ChaosRobbie is amazing! The sheer size of the map is incredible, it's most definitely needed with how cramped the map is. I hope Robbie can keep expanding it and add more detail to the map itself in the future.
Im bloody sold. The fact that you can launch invasions from the realms of chaos is just so damn cool. Also I realy wanna see how things like bretonia and the empire play.
Omg I was waiting for this update! ChaosRobbie is the maddest, chaddest lad ever!
Take a rest, ChaosRobbie, you've more than earned it!
This is glorious! Ulthwan and Cathay centric maps would be fantastic! I also want a Vortex Campaign map of this size and detail. Old World is now my WH1, so now I would like a WH2.
OMG it's looking so good. I can't wait to dive into this proper. I've been using his IEE Mod for a long time now and that too is so Good. Chaosrobbie is a LEGEND.
Nice, Will start up again this autumn and reclaim the lost holds 👍
Old World is cool and all, but i hope someone remembers The Sundering. I remember watching people play that mod for Medieval 2 and it was pretty cool.
OMG! "I predicted there would be +/-1000 settlements. I can't wait to see all the LL playable.
Love your mod focus vids brother. So much more fun to add on to the vanilla game. Hammer on!
Quick note a larger total war map is Rome Total Realism Imperium surrectum for Rome Remastered sitting at 1808 settlement
I tried playing Nuln twice when it came out, but I got bored and frustrated in no time. Then I decided to wait for the Old World update, now I've started a new Nuln campaign, it's great and I can't wait to get back to it.
This is such a great map.
I hope they continue expanding it.
Its Awesome, i cant play Warhammer without this map more! i love it! great Job ChaosRobie!
I would like to see the same with new world now if theres time and interest from the modder.
Honestly, not really a huge fan of the chaos realms here. At least not in their implementation. Don't really like them opening up to the random corners of the map, and it really seems like they are gonna be major changes to certain locations that are going to make their campaigns less thematic. Anything you do down near Araby now is going to be met with stern opposition from Tzeentch forces, same with Albion and Slaanesh, etc. The only realm that feels thematic to me is Khorne's, whose opens up in the chaos wastes.
Factions near these openings are now gonna have to dedicate a significant amount of resources and forces to holding off an entrance to a realm of chaos that they can't feasibly do anything about given the heavy penalties, or dedicate most of their campaign to conquering said realm of chaos, which is going to detract from some campaigns that may have been themed differently before. Then by the looks of things, Tzeentch and Nurgle don't even have access points to the world in the chaos wastes or norsca, that don't involve going through another chaos god's realm.
Really would have preferred it if these realms were only accessible from the chaos wastes normally, with perhaps portals to invade from elsewhere for players who feel like launching their chaos invasions from other regions of the world, but the AI would only use the chaos wastes route. Or a way to disable the chaos realms for those who don't want to deal with that during their campaign.
Quick question; how does warriors of chaos work? As in how many dark fortresses are there?
There's a fair amount!
Agree with IE map is to cramped. I was pretty sad when I saw it the first time. Was hoping for a much bigger map. I don't know what the limits are but I hope that in the end we still get a bigger map. Maybe for buffed PC's or something which I have one.
Hey @TheGreatBookofGrudges may i ask how many mods you had running at the same time max.? And what system you are running them on? My Alienware from 2021 can run 230 mods atm and it works however if i dont clean it from dust regularly it does get quite hot.
RTR Imperium Surectum has more than 1800 settelments. So I think their is still room for growth in this mod. This mod in NOT a DLC quality. IT'S an forgoten EXPANSION (MED 2 Kingdoms)!!
LOVE this stinkin' mod!
The mod is great and all, but what I lack with it is that the map is totally barren. The level of details in comparison to for example vanilla or IE Expanded is low. What I mean? The lands between one and other settlement are empty. Just green grass or just a desert or whatever.
In comparison when you look up vanilla or IE Expanded you will find lots of small mines, decorations, landmarks. Various small details which make the map look more alive.
If they could fix this, then it would be perfect
can you play multiplayer in this mod?
Last version of this could be run with SFO which was a blast, like a whole new game. Fingers crossed that it will still run with SFO
It does! Flawlessly
This is worth money, this guy is amazing
Thanks to moders I spent 2700 hours in TW:WH series. Without mods it would be like, no more than 300. Best guys ever!
teleports should be at possessed lords in the realm
Game changing mod it’s amazing !
As a daemon faction do you get bonuses for being inside the realm of your God in battle?
Are all races included in this pack? Also the Chaos Dwarfs for example?
I can roleplay a slaaneshi invasion that wont cripple me or ambush stances forever… the Satyr Prince comes to Albion, in Slaanesh’s carnal love!👹🍷
Still too little terrain variety and terrain pieces for my taste, but the 1turn settlement movement no more is a good thing.
litle bit more elf / dark elf representation and im willing to give it a go
I wish that there were unique and powerfull landmard in the chaos realms for each demon faction or is there a mod for it if yes PLEASE LET ME KNOW
no corruption visuals? yea its an empire map alright
When he first started the mod it did have corruption, but apparently it uses up too much of the engine capacity so would mean a hell of a lot less settlements and smaller map if he kept the corruption effect in
@@vargknight Oh, that's the reason? :O
Is this also the reason that the map is so empty-lacking all those fancy objects and features like giant caves, volcanos, dragon skeletons, etc.? Map is huge, and that's great but seems kinda boring
@@piojestsuper I don't believe so, I think he does plan to add in those kind of details to the map but just hasn't got to it yet. The reason the corruption is an issue, and uses a lot of capacity, is because it is constantly changing across the whole map every turn. Everything else stays relatively constant so doesn't cause the same problem
Unlike 40k the Warhammer Fantasy lore is in fact not fragmented. While a good chunk doesn't come from Games Workshop and Black Library directly, but from companies such as Cubicle 7 for the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, various video game companies, comics etc. it's all there and endorsed.
There are for most areas of the world highly detailed and professional drawn maps, especially the old world, most of the stuff is fully covered, down to the absolute minimal stuff, such as the cleaning cycles and waste treatments of various Dwarven holds.
Just Cathay, Nippon, Khurresh and Ind are lacking to some extent in the lore, way less Cathay than all the others though.
I lament not being on steam and miss out on most mods
I wish they release this kind of map as official, by 400 settlements not 1200😂
Looks good I'm just worried about the performance
Does this work for co-op? Looks awesome!
they should cooperate with CA
They did. CA provided a ton of help to make the map.
@@resileaf9501 explain coz me dumb
@@ASHFAR578 CA provided the map tools to make the map, they taught the modder how to use them and they gave assistance when needed.
Hopes he adds more visuals and ulthuan
Its cool, but does it have s narrative or is it just a sandbox?
Modders are far more creative and taented then CA. Maybe we should pay them more than we pay for the company.
does the end turn timer still take like 5 minutes to get done after turn 20
I'm at turn 47 with Karl and it's between 8 and 10 min each turn...
@@FlasdaForamontanos I guess its a testament to how impressive and good the map is that I even consider playing on it with end turn timers that long 😂
ALl the optimization done on the base game maps to reduce end turn times don't work on this map
Is Radious Mod compatible with the new Old World Mod?
yes
engine limitations are 100% CA fault. They knew since game 1 this will be a thing. They had 8 years to improve it
I loved the old world mod since it came out and love to see it grow BUT since 3.0 turn times have sadly become unbearable for me :c if anyone knows how to reduce turm times in any way pls let me know so i can play this ge of a mod again
Holy hell how cool
Much love to ChaosRobie, but no corruption is a deal-breaker 😭
Yeah the lack of corruption is so tragic
There is corruption, it is just not visualized on the the map
@KaHzAdaNe of course, but the lack of visualisation takes you out of the immersion; especially when playing as a corrupting race or as the wood elves
Im taking a break from the game for now, mainly just waiting on main mods to get updated, legendary characters mod still needs updated and prolly a couple others i use.
Wish i could play but the fps would be a struggle for my computer
Yo, what is this mod? Never saw It before
My only trouble is I don't think it works with Radious which I can barely play without these days :/
radious is fucking gay
This is so so fucking cool
I don't care about realm of chaos. I need The NIPPON!!! 😅😢
Can you get this old world mod threw the steam workshop ?
Someone correct me, is this the only mod that CA helped?
“This mod is DLC quality” lmfao no DLC from CA even touches this
Is it? The map is barren, it cannot have corruption graphics because it makes the framerate die and it's waaaaaay too big a map for anything but a hardcore campaign experience.
It's a wonderful passion project, but it would never be something that a wider audience would enjoy.
@@resileaf9501 all the problems you have mentioned are related to the old engine CA still uses. Also even tho lots of people wouldn’t enjoy this, the magnitude of work which had to go into this is far beyond most DLCs has put out for WH3. And it is completely free. CA could charge 25€ for this and it would still be considered good. All while done by one guy
@@FilipMoncrief It wasn't done by one guy. CA helped a lot in making this mod be made.
@@resileaf9501 how so?
@@FilipMoncrief They provided the map tools, taught the modder how to use them and provided other general assistance.
Can you play it with friends ?
At this point can't we put Robbie on the payroll for CA?
Can they keep pushing the map out or is this as big as it'll get?
At the moment: That's the limit.
But, why should I care about chaos realms, it's not like I can colonize it, lol.
The load times and turn timers are quiote long, even on an ssd but I've been super enjoying invading the blood god's domain as Tamurkhan. Great fun
major problems with this mod
- No corruption. Vampire land are sunny and grassy.
- no landmarks/empty world. world just feels like completely lifeless.
Thumbs up
I don't get why people want 1200+ settlements. I think 300 is far too many already
If somebody can do it as a MOD with the same engine, and the game still looks awesome, CA have no excuse. Engine limitations??? Who is in charge of maintaining the engine and choosing which engine to use? Ofc it is CA fault.
Does it look awesome? The map is barren, it cannot have corruption graphics because it makes the framerate die and it's waaaaaay too big a map for anything but a hardcore campaign experience.
It's a wonderful passion project, but it would never be something that a wider audience would enjoy.
Putting CA to shame.

Ive tried the map. And its certainly amazing.
But the settlements are so incredibly far appart.
I prefer empire map density to be honest, where each settlement is about 1 turn away from one another. Reducing waiting and adding more action and risk to the map as enemies are on your doorstep at all times
I'm kind of the opposite since the settlements being father apart means that there are more field battles.
And I don't mind waiting an extra turn or two before attacking or having to defend.
big empty maps with zero decorations and limited movement range for a proper campaign, problems that hasn't changed since its first release
1200 sieges that you will autoresolve because sieges are awfull...
No ulthuan, lustria and dark elves no care ever.
Without the territories of the Elves and Lustria, this is a weak mod no matter how labor-intensive it is (I respect the modder's work). But just imagine that in 2024, we still can't get a simple map of sufficient size when the engine the game runs on was created back in the days of Total War: Empire. We are literally standing still, but after 10 years, we have lost naval units and good synchronized animations, and the map has remained just as small. Wonderful.
And yes, it's true that game budgets have increased tenfold while the games themselves have remained the same, but that's a minor detail.
Then the modders say they can't just expand the map enough because the scripts will break. What kind of nonsense did the developers code?
ffs, days after I uninstalled
Ugh,
If only somebody who is not obsessed with that silly lore made a custom map that ignores the lore and instead is just good. For starters, there should be much fewer settlements on the map, not more. It should always take several turns to travel from one settlement to the next, and there should be more stuff to do outside of settlements.
I wish you could play this mod without Mixu's. I love the map expansion, but I'm not really a fan of the custom lords. I don't like how much they clash with the rest presentation-wise.
mixus unlocker and mixus legendary lords are two different mods
you dont need the costum lord mod for this
@@hallo-mt5tx Well, hush my mouth. What else does the Unlocker do, then?
@@HiddenEvilStudios its for costum factions
you can also play all the minor faction with it
@@hallo-mt5tx ...But isn't that what I said earlier? The principle's the same, regardless if we're talking about lords or factions.
@@HiddenEvilStudios unlocker doesnt add any costum lords/factions itself
it just enables other mods, they dont work without it
Its not creative assembly fault because of engine limitations? you do know its creative assembly engine please for the love of the hobby stop worshiping Quetzl the Protector stop protecting them!
With all respect of the world the poeple who make mods for TWW are on Kinder, it is not advisable at all to install that. Compairing with other modders than Skyrim, they are light years ahead in stability about mods
its simple I dont want to play mods, so useless for me.
very ugly map comparing to original. So empty.
