I'm gonna say it: the chanting/calling out towards the end reminded me of RIVERSIDE who tends to have lots of that chanting/sing along in their songs. ALL GOOD!!!
You are the first person I have seen who has had the same thought as me that this sounds a lot more like Affinity than the last couple of albums. Being that Affinity is my favorite Haken album, I was all in for this album when I heard this song.
I love Haken, but honestly, I'm not too enamored by the intro section. However, once the drums and bass really bust open the door and kick in your teeth with the heavy part I like the rest of the song a lot from there. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the album.
Nightingale is weird, I gave it a listen, then about a month later I listened to it again and it clicked better, it's sp weird, maybe I was in the wrong mindset the first time, now it is 100% a banger. This was a little the same coz of the pop vibe through it, but I actually think it's cool especially since it still feels really Haken.
The video was puzzling, why the white jumpsuits? They looked like Chinese biohazard suits and more suited for a Vector or Virus video.

Your credentials are that you have a great taste in music! I'd love to see you react to Moon Tooth. They're not talked about enough by prog fans (I'm not even sure anyone at the Prog Report knows they exist), but they are absolutely progressive in every meaning of the word. I recommend Queen Wolf, Motionless in Sky, and Alpha Howl as a starting point.
They have three full length albums and they're all excellent.
Haken proceeds to new heights (and uses Trumpet just like Polyphia & Steve Vai in " EgoDeath).

I found hard time enjoying Haken, post Mountain album
I love all of their stuff, some albums better than others, but for me there is no bad album. I really don't understand people holding 'The Mountain' up there on a pedestal and this may be blasphemy but I think Cockroach King is so overrated. For me Virus is the best thing they've ever done.
@@leejlogan Because there are people enjoying progresive rock, progresive jazz fusion, and Mountain is the last album that have those elements. Virus and so on are just heavy riff loaded, djent oriented, something I don't like for my money buying progresive album...

I liked Nightengale more than this. The musicianship here is stellar as always and the melody is pretty good. But that bouncy, almost hip-hop beat is not my thing. It's why I can't get into Polyphia despite their monstrous talents. Hoping this is a one-off and not a direction Haken is headed.
