    Be carefull in what looks like a non vented bilge/hold space. There can be minimal oxygen in there as the O2 gets consumed by oxidation... rust.

    I’m thoroughly confused, would the cribbing not be the responsibility of the transport company? Why would the owner have to come out of pocket for that mistake?

    • @Chris.from.1950
      @Chris.from.1950 2 года назад +4

      Like he said, he assumed that it would be taken care of, but the contract didn’t specify that part, so he, the owner, was on the hook for making it work, however he could.

    • @pmnfernando
      @pmnfernando 2 года назад +3

      @Otosj van Tolerbok of course the transporting company would be discarding the slings. its all about the insurance. slings arent designed to be pinched like that. so if they kept using it and something went wrong in the next job they would be liable. by the same token, the owner had full responsabillity if the slings were to fail, but that was his damage, not the transporting company and as such there was no risk for them. yes the slings were good to lift the boat one final time, and nothing happenned thank God, but only a fool would use them a next time. cut them into pieces and get a new set, in the overall scheme they are a cheap item.

    Be very careful if you are working inside the hull , many people have died from asphyxiation when venturing into enclosed spaces like that where there is lots of rust. Rust sucks the oxygen out of the air . Do some research on working in enclosed spaces.
