I am on my tenth Bentley Turbo R, am I broke, yes, but, the smile on my face, priceless. There is no other car in the world that drives like a Rolls Royce or Bentley. They really are fantastic machines, however, the majority of these cars fall into bad custodians who neglect them. Like any car, you can’t do that. My 1997 Turbo R has 385 Horsepower and almost 600 ft. Lbs of toque - this translates into effortless cruising at 6,000 lbs. 0-60 in 6.3 seconds and limited to 150 mph. A lot of people on here have no clue about these cars and will simply hate….but find a good one and you won’t regret it.
Very beautiful. My dream Land Yacht is a 1971 Chrysler New Yorker with a 440. They had a luxury/ muscle car look about them. Very classy, classic, and beastly all at the same time. I remember riding in one as a kid. Upon accelerating, it felt like the hand of God was swiftly propelling you forward with the expediency of a bolt of lightning. And the engine was practically silent at the same time. It was surreal.
Beautiful car in a beautiful color! And for $8000? Enjoy your sweet ride. I would love to own something like that. I'm looking at classic Mercedes. A Rolls Royce though would be the ultimate!

It needs new springs in front to bring it up to the same height as in the rear. The appearance of the Rolls-Royce will change dramatically with this and you will appreciate it. Now, with weak knees, the old Lady looks a little bit sad...😢 And I’m pretty sure, that the headliner is partially cleaned and you just need to clean the rest! It would be a pity to replace it. Greetings from a Silver Spirit II owner (the Geneva Motor Show car from the 1990 car show) from Switzerland. Enjoy your Rolls-Royce! 😊
Interesting, have been to the netherlands, purchasing parts for my Jaguar at a Mechanics workshop for Jags, talked to him and he used to work for Rolls Royce exlusively. I think he had the same model of the same colour as ongoing project parked in the entrance of his garage. Sadly its probably the only car I didnt take a picture of, I was to much fawning about the MK II.
I have come so close to buying one of these so many times, but have alway taled my self out of it. There is still one for sale by me for 6 g's. Ill just stick to my European money pits dont need a uk pitt as well. But thanks for letting me live vicariously through you.
I only do about 3 HPDE’s a year. I don’t need to tow it at all it would just be nice if something breaks I won’t need to ride home with the tow truck driver. However I think you are correct all roads lead to just getting a truck.
At that time Rolls Royce manufactured art that could be used to drive around in. I know because I had an uncle who worked at Rolls Royce and he was always going on about how differently these cars were manufactured to other brands. For a start, the body panels were hand-beaten into shape, not pressed. The paintwork was not sprayed on, it was brushed on by hand, layer for layer, each layer hand-sandpapered down before the next one was applied and the final layer then hand polished. The grill was made of hand shaped sheet steel parts, soldered together (brazed to you Americans), copper plated and then finally chrome plated. In fact all chrome plated parts were first copper plated ensuring zero possibility of rust. The dashboard was made of a solid piece of hand carved walnut. All the spinning parts of the engine and transmission where hand balanced, one of the reason the motor runs so quietly. What BMW, the present owner of the brand, today calls a Rolls Royce is maybe an excellent product, but nothing in comparison to the vintage models. I'd buy a vintage Rolls Royce, they go for relative low prices, but the upkeep is beyond my budget. Already the fuel they burn is too much for me.
I always wanted to pick up a cheap Rolls, but I just haven't had the extra money I know I'd have to spend to keep it going and I'd wind up being the first guy to sell a Rolls Royce to one of those "we buy junk cars" hucksters.

What 8,000 dollar they are worth like 60,000 or more this R-R looks like it's from 1996-1999 because the 1982-1995 are just a little different but almost identical
How many miles on it? Kind of disappointing that the pinnacle of hand-craftsmanship has so many seemingly, tho relatively small, basic quality issues, such as rust. Granted, it's hardly new, but it's still a RR, and at less than 30 yrs old, I (maybe I'm being naive here) expected better even with some neglect. My 25 yr old MB certainly was. All that said, it is still a magnificent looking car, and especially given the purchase price, certainly worth putting some money into restoring its glory.
