What a great story and yes, the Camargue is not really Rolls Royce as some think of it, but it has grown on me significantly as I'm sure it has for many. Fun to watch Jay Leno backtracking, a viewer bonus. One of the Garage's best episodes and of course the chemistry between Jay and Donald is great. I am originally from Glasgow in Scotland (I live now in Dubai, where even a Spectre is nothing special) and often bemuse those witnessing a couple of fellow Scots 'warmly' greeting each other with such 'insults' often more cutting than Jays to Donald in language that would make a sailor blush. Just a great episode for so many reasons. Oh, and that car is off the charts in 'coolness' compared to a Mustang GT, what were you thinking uttering such nonsense, Jay?

What I found striking is the hood height on the Spectre when Donald was standing next to it. It’s nearly at chest level vs. Camargue is slightly below hip level. Our cars today have become so large that it makes no sense. There is something to be said about small proportions that are executed well in design, I think the tighter overall proportions show off the design cues better. That’s why I think car makers like Porsche were genius to maintain the silhouette of the 911, even though the modern 911 is larger it still shows off its design cues.

What a floating boat of a car! That's where the term Land Yacht originates.

It was amazing to me to hear the cost of this vehicle when new.
The 3/4 angle from the rear looks just like a late 70's Impala.

Yes, my thoughts exactly! GM shamelessly lifted the design.

I was looking at an old Chevrolet ad in a magazine and they were marketing the vinyl top as being the style of a convertible without the cons.

i was driving in extreme weather when this came on, and THIS IS ONE OF IF NOT THE BEST OF JAY'S VIDEOS! when i got home i found the Tyrell Camarge video and got to see what i missed visually by driving while it was on, the rear looks like a Chevy Caprice, and the front loOks like a Cadillac of my least favorite design, but, after watching the Tyrell video I am SOLD ON THIS CAR TOO!

Had a Fiat 130 Coupe for many years for daily use. Would love to try the same with a nice Camargue. Love these 70's Pininfarina designs. Wonderful !

I first learned about this model reading the duPont Registry magazine when I was a kid in the 90s...nice to learn more about the story behind this car decades later. Pretty cool!

D man nailed it with the vinyl top mimicking a convertible. And Jay was right about the American look. Nailed that too. Most peeps don’t get it. Thanks for educating and entertaining us.

I may be one of the few people who likes the Camargue. It's different and stylish in its own right. That's awesome that Ben kept the car in the family and has kept it going. I work near an old money area and I saw a Camargue on the road the other day. I was amazed to see such a rare car on the road. Way more interesting than seeing a new Lamborghini making noise.

I"m right between Jay and Donald on this car. It's not the most "Rolls-Royce" looking model, but there is just something about it.... Glad the car was able to be preserved! Such a great story with it! I literally just commented on this car when seeing it in the background of a previous video. Thanks for sharing this!
