My dad passed away yesterday and now I'm making a playlist with all the songs he loved and I remember him by. This is one of them. Thank you dad for showing me the greatest artists of all times. Loved, missed and never forgotten 🤘🔥❤
It’s 2022 I’m 40 years old and this song still takes me back to being 10 and my grandparents dancing to this in the living room and it still brings a tear to my eye.
My mom was madly in love with Randy Owen. I remember I loved listening to Alabama with her. She went to a concert and I remember being so excited for her. I've grown and watched her beat cancer twice. She is my hero.
Arguably the greatest country band ever. “Take Me Down” is a stunning piece of crossover country that still gets to me nearly 40 years later.. Those vocal harmonies are in league with The Eagles’.
I'd like to hear the argument against it. There's no country band even in the same conversation as Alabama. It's not as if they're the best, there's nobody else even mentionable. Who are we supposed to compare them to, restless heart? They easily are the greatest country band ever, they had over 40 #1 hits, no band is even close to that.
I read they played the Bowery in Myrtle Beach 6 nights a week for tips only. They would lay in bed at night before sleeping and practice harmonies. It paid off to say the least 💯
What a beautiful youth that must have been. I was just telling my buddy it must have been amazing growing up with Alabama, real country, and classic rock.
What a timeless, classic band. I remember seeing them in 1985 in Ft.Worth, TX. I was 9 months pregnant. Reba McEntire was their opening act. Such memories!

Greatest band ever,,people say glad they are back ,in my world they never stopped ,been a fan since 1980 . My husband knows if I get goose bumps from music ,it's Alabama, or Elvis🥰🥰🥰
In 1978, I was 22. And the 1st time I ever even heard of these guys, was when my sister in laws grabbed me and said “ Do you want to go see Alabama sing?” I was like”Sure whoever they are!” And we went! That concert was in the Great Falls, Mont. high school gym. Seriously. Maybe? 1000 people attended. I was hooked on them with the first song. Mesmerized. I went home to Washington state and hunted down their albums. Not a lot of country music in my area then. I’ve been lucky enough to have seen them in concert 4 times since. And have most their albums , and their signatures. As they used to stay after concerts and sign the programs. This video reminds me so much of what it felt like to sit so close in that gym and listen to them. I’ve never forgotten or taken that for granted, how lucky I was that night.
1980's I was 12 yrs old .. 1st concert 1st kiss... Randy Owens .. on the cheek... thank you for giving me a reason to believe in the innocence of love...
My first ALABAMA concert was in 1982...I was 2...still have the tiny little shirt that says, "ALABAMA on Tour 1982." I was VERY blessed that my parents took me to see ALABAMA every, single year from 1982 til around 1999. (Sometimes we got to see them twice a year when we would go to Myrtle Beach.) Through the years, we would wait and do and "meet and greet" with them after their concerts ~ they truly LOVE their fans!! All I can say now (being 42) is WoW ~ they were and are still AMAZING!!! Always loved Mark's hair here. And do y'all notice Jeff's shirt? Randy always spot on and Teddy is just way too cool.
I'd recommend blaming the record companies first and foremost. They have an unreasonable amount of control, and albums won't be released until the label OKs every song. I've read some instances where successful artists have been told to scrap the songs they've made to be their lead single three or four times before the label finally accepts one. Artists take a lot of heat for the crap they make, but when it comes down to it, it's either they produce "pop-country" music, or they'll get passed up for someone else who will. Artists get very little control about what they make. If they had the freedom to do their own thing, you'd hear more variety in country. Not only old school country, but artists would probably go in many different directions. It would be real, it would be unique, and there'd be a little bit of everything for everyone, rather than one specific type for a very specific demographic.
I'm 41 and I still listen to these guys and I love them my grandma was in love with them especially Randy lol and my best memories of me and my Mamie ( granny) would be listening to Alabama records and sneaking candy and root beer away from Papa ( gramps)..we had her farewell party 2010...after God was ready for her and we had the song angels among us at her funeral..but I remember this one here being one of her favorites 😊
song will forever remind me of my parents, this journey, and eagles. we used to drive from Oklahoma back to Arizona for holidays and summer. im 30 years old and i finally found out who sings this song. I have read a lot of yalls memories and how this brings back your grandparents. You all have no idea how much i wish i had those memories. I never got to meet them, so im living vicariously thru yall. So thank you.
I Love Alabama and their great sound of guitar, drums and THEM VOCALS!!!! GREAT SONG, makes me smile and think when I was 5 years old running barefoot in the house from hearing this on mommas stereo. I would just DANCE!!🥰🤘
I am so sorry for the loss of your Mother Randy 🙏 I was so disappointed not to be able to see you tonight BUT I’m more concerned About you & your family. I will see you here in Virginia on 12/9. May God wrap his loving arms around you as she is still there with you also & will be always 🤎 Rest in Paradise as you fly with the Angels. We light candles in your memory & will continue to as your family faces this difficult road ahead of them . God Bless you all as you are in so many hearts & our prayers all around the world 🙏🤎🙏
I missed there concert when I was a kid. Fortunately I got lucky enough to see them with the Marshall Tucker band this past month in Springfield, Missouri one of my favorite concerts to date as a 21 year old and I’ve seen most of todays big country artists! Takes me right back to the weekends at grandmas house. I prey old there Music never dies
This song has so many memories, for me especially for my grandparents.. They set a good example for what a marriage should be and how to do things together ❤️ I miss them so much.. But ik I have the most beautiful angels in heaven looking down on me
@@lisalaux2629 It kinda makes me sad to think that someone could be so big and known by all. Then just a faded memory. They made enough money that I'm sure it doesn't matter to them😃
What a rewind Alabama is for us folks in our early to mid 60 now. Back then we were in our early to mid 20s and were have'n the time of our lives. Even with as bad as things are right now in this world. Never think for one second that your not living in the best times of your life. Live it to the fullest. You'll look back on 2022 with memories that you wish you could relive too. Saw Alabama with Waylon in the 80s. What a great show it was.
My most favorite country band of all time. I just picked up the fiddle at the beginning of my school year, my life long goal is to one day, be able to play it as well as that one guy can, love Alabama.❤
The way I've heard you play the fiddle already, sis, you are very good at it, you'll be there in no time, your very good at belting out those notes and you do it very quickly, your a very fast learner when it comes to music and a lot of things.🤗
THANK YOU FOR ALL THE AWESOME 70s - 80s Bands that we all have to listen to all because of you WONDERFUL PEOPLE starting them. It gives me chills every time I hear anyone of the awesome bands and thanks again.
My all time favorite country music band and one of the biggest reasons why i love counry music because these brothers make it so much fun to sing with no matter what they play
I listen to all kinds of music. Classic country is s one of them. I grew up with my pops listening to this music. I really miss him. Rest in peace pops. One thing I don't listen to it the garbage today they call so called country music of today. Keep real country alive.
IM 51, and I still listen I was a little girl when I first started listening to Alabama. I think they will ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE BAND. I started listening to them when I was 7 or 8 years old!!!😊
These guys only gave great music. When they were just starting they were to play at our county fair bad storms stopped their performance at the fair grounds. They had no problem moving their equipment to the high school and the show went on. I had to work that night missed seeing them but not the crowd when I got home since it was across the street from my home. Everything they sing is great great great and a few dig at the heart strings.
Alabama is THE STANDARD by which all country music, as well many other genres should aspire to achieve. Of course they can not, and will not ever be duplicated. Only imitated.

Man I'll tell you this was when country was country. Alabama had a true country sound and it never changed. I really miss these days because the country today doesn't even sound like country anymore. I wish we could go back to country music like this. Or in reality this kind of country actually made sense.
I’m 65 years old. Seen many concerts. George strait. Johnny cash. Hank jr. Many others. Best concert ever was Alabama. Not even close

IM 51, and I still listen I was a little girl when I first started listening to Alabama. I think they will ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE BAND. I started listening to them when I was 7 or 8 years old!!!😊
Grandpa's favourite song ❤I still remember this 😭
Wish he could able to hear his favourite 🤧❤(R.I.P) 🌼
These guys only gave great music. When they were just starting they were to play at our county fair bad storms stopped their performance at the fair grounds. They had no problem moving their equipment to the high school and the show went on. I had to work that night missed seeing them but not the crowd when I got home since it was across the street from my home. Everything they sing is great great great and a few dig at the heart strings.
Hello Linda... How are you doing today... 💕💕💕💕
And I hope you do stay safe due to the pandemic over there.?
Hi Linda,hope you’re okay ?
A person forgets sometimes how damn great Alabama was/is.
Kenny Chesney was the almost unknown opener..1996.. Alabama just brought it for over 2 hours...One of the best shows I ever attended....
One of the best writers in the world
I am so happy that I grew up in this time and got to experience thuis great music! Brings back sooo good memories 😁
One of the greatest country bands if the the best
This bands music still blows me away today !!!!! True legends!!!!
Alabama is THE STANDARD by which all country music, as well many other genres should aspire to achieve. Of course they can not, and will not ever be duplicated. Only imitated.

The closer you get, the further I fall
I'll be over the edge now in no time at all
I'm fallin' faster and faster and faster with no time to stall
The closer you get, the further I fall
Could I be dreamin'
Is this really real
'Cause there's something magic
The way that I feel in your arms here tonight
The closer you get, the further I fall
I'll be over the edge now in no time at all
I'm fallin' faster and faster and faster with no time to stall
The closer you get, the further I fall
Keep fallin', oh, yeah, yeah, keep fallin', mm, fallin', oh, yeah, yeah, I'm fallin'
Yes, I'm fallin' (Yes, I'm fallin' Yes, I'm fallin')
Yes, I'm fallin' (Yes, I'm fallin' Yes, I'm fallin')
Yes, we're fallin' (Yes, we're fallin' Yes, we're fallin')
The closer you get, oh baby the further I fall
I'll be over the edge now in no time at all
I'm fallin' faster and faster and faster with no time to stall
The closer you get, the further I fall
2020 and I survived the coronavirus!!I made it! Still home recovering and jamming to Alabama...yes life is precious....love country music 🎶
Hello Jennifer... How are you doing today.... 💕💕💕💕💕💕
And I hope you do stay safe due to the pandemic over there.?
This is country music so entertaining I love it nice lyrics. How are you Jenna ?
Man I'll tell you this was when country was country. Alabama had a true country sound and it never changed. I really miss these days because the country today doesn't even sound like country anymore. I wish we could go back to country music like this. Or in reality this kind of country actually made sense.
Listen to Cody Johnson
❤ i 60 and still love there music the seventies when me and my stardate
July 16, 1983 - Alabama posts a #1 single on the Billboard country chart with "The Closer You Get"

Alabama what an amazing group absolutely one of the best
Since the 1980s until now, this song is still in my head & I can memorise all the lyrics smoothly.
Alabama a great bunch of good ole boys and some damn good music!!!
These are some superbad brothers from other mothers. Their music bridged huge culture gaps. Country Rock Blues.
Fell in love with Alabama a long time ago. Been to one of their shows and wish I had gone to more. Listen to them all of the time.
Hello 👋 Carol how are you doing?
Best “crossover” band along with the “eagles” of all time. All ages, pop or country, loved this band.
500 years from now this song will still be awesome !!
Hell yeah 👍👍👍👍
