I have enormous respect for Peter Grant but I'm glad that many people managed to get round his men and recorded the concerts on the sly…because then I, who was born many years after the end of the band, can listen to the amazing performances of my most beloved rock band

Sadly I never got to see them live, to young in their early days, when they were closer to where I lived. When I was in my teens, yet not able to drive, they were to far away to get there. When I could have gotten there, is after their last US concert, but I’ve loved them for so long. Grant wanted them to just focus on their music, they were lucky to have a manager, who took great care of them. Getting them a great contract with AR, & the band getting complete control over all aspects of their music. Grant also got them 90% of ticket sales, instead of the crappy 10% of the times. The GREATEST BAND EVER!!!
Thank you for another great article.

' Live on Blueberry Hill ' was already heard of by Rob & Jimmy back in a '72 intervu after the Australian tour ended, Robert called it 'dire,' Jimmy was shocked by the price of that release, stating that their 4 Lp's were being sold @ a lower price compared to what bootlegger's were selling them for at a higher amount. And yes, Peter Grant disliked bootlegger's a whole lot.

Peter Grant was hard on the bootleggers, but he couldn’t stop them all. The irony is that Led Zeppelin is probably one of the most bootlegged bands in history. Close to 300 concerts was recorded in some way or another, and more than 100 of these are in fact in great quality. A lot of Soundboards and some great audience recordings. About 1500 bootlegs of the band is released in Japan alone.

Related to another video you made: This may be lore but I’ve read that one of the reasons that Zeppelin chose six nights at the LA Forum was to best Tull, who played five nights there in 1975 - though not consecutively. The tour routed them to Arizona and Texas for two shows before returning to LA.

Peter Grant was a ferocious frightening powerful Manager but because he was always on the Band's SIDE with him they couldn't lose ....They knew this.....He was really brutal on Bootleggers. But with the rise of everything on the internet this era has gone.....His gameplan of Zeppelin being a purist ALBUM band worked excellently. Instead of controlling wild cards like John Bonham Peter Grant would join in with the debauchery ..lol ...Because he was seen by them as being like one of the band. Then of course John died in 1980. That stopped Peter Grant dead in his tracks. It was devastating for him....He knew things could never be the same again....He pulled up his drawbridge and became a depressed hermit but pulled himself out of the dive in the latter part of the 1980s.....Sadly he never re gained his position in the rock community he once had. But had many great memories....In fact he 'retired' to the South East UK town of Eastbourne where I lived my youth & still am on the outskirts in Pevensey. One of the things Peter did in Eastbourne was to become a judge for 'Talent Contests' on Eastbourne PIER ......When asked by a record company exec what he though of the talent of the competitors Peter remarked - 'NO , they were so rubbish I WANTED TO THROW THEM INTO THE SEA' .....lolol (Paul)

In the early 70’s while on tour in the Deep South Jimmy was being harassed by a bunch of sailers due to his long hair Peter Grant caught wind of this and grabbed one of the sailers by the neck hoisted him up in the air and yelled “WHATS YOUR FUCKING GAME POPEYE”

I was lucky to see every Rainbow tour. 75 -83 in the Chicago area. The first show at the Auditorium was a little subdued due to the fact that a band of clowns were in town the same night, lol. The most memorable show was 7 months later at the Aragon Ballroom. Heart and Mahogany Rush opened. This show was on the Rising tour. Incredible show, Ritchie and the band at their best. The other great show was in 79 at the Amphitheater co headlining with Blue Oyster Cult. Graham Bonnet. The audio from this show is available on RUclips since it was broadcast from the Chicago Rock fm station. 82 at Alpine Valley was a good show also with UFO opening.
