Restoration of MYSTERY Dirty Piece

- Hi! Today, the restoration of the mysterious dirty scabbard and, in my opinion, the knife. My friend's new find. The leather suspension and the tip of the handle are visible. We are starting to restore.
After removing the dirt, I found a piece of steel inside the roughly made iron "scabbard". After a complete cleaning, I determined that it was a piece of a saber of the 1881 model (I am 95% sure of this!).
The steel is good - the project has begun. I'll make a knife. I used the back of the blade where the holes appeared from the rust.
Furthermore, I adjusted the blade, sharpened it and took a deer horn for the handle. Secured with two rivets and glue.
I additionally processed and made an ordinary leather case from the leather of an old boot in which this blade will be stored.
I also did the usual test for you, do not forget to share this video. Thank you!
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

An old very rusty dagger 😍ruclips.net/video/lBgmxYnRpe8/видео.html
Always a great day when Screws and Tools posts a video!!! Cheers, Alex!
Thanks))
That's not a restoration, its a resurrection ;)
Most accurate comment 😅👍
There was nothing terrible about that restoration, just your normal way of showing how a piece of scrap can be beautiful again. Another great video.
Very bad corrosion! You did a great job restoring it! Looks very nice!!
¡Excelente!😀🛠🗡❤👍
Nice choice of handle, my friend! ****beep-beep****
Hello . I like your videos. A satisfying video. But I see you are doing very well.
You say it looks terrible, i think you resurrected a piece of history for future usage. FANTASTIC!!! I would use it in my workshop.
Cool, Mad Max style)👍
Oh yes, exactly))
Dope AF results, @ScrewsAndTools!
That was amazing
You are too hard on yourself Alex, what you consider as "Terrible" is a wonderful job in my eyes.
Thank you!)
Super Arbeit, danke 🎉👍🏻🥳
Danke für Ihre Aufmerksamkeit!
Excellent work!
Thanks!
Alex, if this is going to be a "Shop knife" could you not have made it all shiny, shiny? LOL! You know me, I like shiny things! You did great with this one. Like the shotgun shell end by the way! I never would have thought of using one. Stay safe my friend! Bob and Teresa
You are good at everything you do!
Thanks
Hello mister Screws beautiful restoration well done
Thank you!
Great restore and it turned out awesome. 👍
Thanks Aalan) ^_^
Beauty and functionality do not have to go hand-in-hand. You found a piece of blade steel in something you did not expect. You turned it into a functional tool. That is were it's beauty lies,. A blade that anyone else would have tossed, you made useful. Keep up the great work.
Thank you for your attention and feedback
Very interesting, a sabre into a dagger restored with a very serviceable sheath. Nice story.
Thanks
You are an amazingly creative restorer! Bravo Alex I love to see you restore the impossible! 😊❤
The beauty of your videos are not the final results of the journey but showing that being resourceful with the tools and knowledge available, anyone is capable of restoring something. For example, i don't have a bench grinder. I got creative and figured out how to make a temporary grinding wheel with a drill. Wasn't perfect but it worked
Very nice! Beep beep! 👍👍💪💪
It looked a whole lot better than it did before you restored it.
Amazing job. Essential but elegant
Its a nice and simple restoration. Looks like somebody tried to turn that old Shashka into a dsgger but it was left alone for years. Good to see you still gave some life and character to that remaining piece!
Awesome always cool stuff always thanks
Thank you!
That’s not terrible!!! It looks great 👍🏻
Hello Alex, I think it's a great restoration! Any knife with a horn handle is good! The perfect shop knife! Thank you for another great video! All the very best to You and Yours from Brian in Southern California
The horn and shell casing give it a hunters knife look. Another old sword gets new life as a new knife 😄. And at 5:55 yes it was! 🤣
Quedó espectacular,te felicito tovarich
Amazing restoration as always 👏👏
A whole lot better than sitting in the ground for another 100 years!
hahaha yes)
Abraço aqui no Brazil 🇧🇷👍👏👏
It's not terrible. It's a real miracle. Wonderful work. I liked it a lot.
Thank you!))
I think it looks good! Unique knife with an interesting history!
Thanks, yes. look strange and not nice but now it will work)
Bravo brother ❤
My mentor would often call a blade like this well for him made from old machetes or corn knives a hack blade. The idea was simple enough reusing old steel to make something new and you did that wonderfully brother
Thanks for feedback!
Best knife is the one you have. I’d be proud to have such a blade. 👍
Interesting feedback)
I don’t think it’s terrible at all Alex, I think it’s pretty cool! I think the addition of the shell casing was a neat touch, what was the caliber of that casing? You sure didn’t have much to work with but you turned it into a useful knife! Always enjoy your wok!
always good to have a shop knife handy
Thanks!
still good job:)
Nice work, that is the kind of knife you can beat on and not feel too bad about it.
Yeah)
The seath it wasn't anything much, but the bullet at the tip of the adler was brilliant.
It went from something that looked almost like a turd to something that looks almost like a knife! Seriously though, I really like the refreshing honestly and discovery of your work and you make good use of the materials you have at hand. Nice video!
Thanks for feedback!!
Screws And Tools
I would never have thought of reusing a cartridge case as a knife pommel but now that you showed it, it’s kind of obvious. The primer hole is ready made to put the lanyard through, even. Shotgun shell, right?
I almost had a heart attack when you tossed the sheet metal from the original scabbard but then I realized that it could not be original to the saber the knife was made from because it was only folded, not welded or soldered.
You call the finished project ugly, I call it utilitarian. Nothing wrong with that. I expect to see it working as hard as you do in future videos.
Beep beep!
very cool
Miracle, you are using globes
If you gave this man oil he would restore it back to a dinosaur! Love your work...beep beep!!
That’s not bad knife throwing.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
@@bogverius.i
It was an old style Bayonet which would have been in a sleeve that was part leather part metal as the metal dragging across the metal as it was pulled out would have assisted to keep it sharper for longer.
👍👍👍
The cap and lanyard look good and are practical, but I think that it would have looked cool to have the curved horn down to the point. But that is just me seeing too many fantasy daggers.
Good enough for potatoes 😊
Compared to how it was it's beautiful. Good enough to cut potatoes 👍💪
oh yes, enought for potatoes))))
