Restoration Rusted Curved Knife - it TURNED out SHARP!

- Hello folks! Today, I have a new restoration of the curved knife for you. I found it among other interesting items (I won't say which ones yet - these are future restoration projects). I liked the shape of the knife, the steel seemed good (and I was not mistaken) and I decided to return it to service. We are starting the restoration.
As usual, I dismantled the old handle and rivets from the knife. Next, I placed it in a rust remover, then washed, dried and oiled it.
I started sanding the blade with sandpaper from 40 to 240 grit. After the blade, I degreased and etched with a solution of nitric acid several drawings on the surface of the knife.
The next stage is the handle of the knife. I chose oak wood and brass rivets. Also, for the knife, I carved a scabbard out of wood. Next, I cut out a piece of natural medium-thick leather and glued the surface of the scabbard, and then passed. I also added a leather suspension for carrying a knife.
As usual, I conducted a knife test. I hope you enjoy this restoration. I hope, you will enjoy this restoration video.

Вот знаешь что удивляет меня в твоих работах? И ведь не догадаешься! Как ты свои работы делаешь? - Нет. Чем ты делаешь? - Нет. Из чего ты делаешь? - Тоже нет. Меня удивляет... Где ты берёшь клинки для своих работ?
Такое впечатление что на Кавказе... Вот пошёл наш друг Алекс на рынок за укропом, глядь, - а под кустом старинный нож лежит. Под деревом кинжал нашёл, а на рынке, прямо рядом с укропом, петрушкой, луком и кинзой старинные ржавые сабли продают. А ржавые мушкеты и пистоли, - то надо рядом с баклажанами и персиками искать...
Я, в своё время, хотел другу на день рождения примерно такой подарок сделать, - красивое и с историей. Обязательно с историей, поскольку новое я и сам сделать могу, но это уже не то. Так вот в поисках подарка я перерыл весь интернет, но нашёл или откровенную рухлядь, или что-то приличное, но по таким астрономическим ценам, что... Да и полицаи прицепиться могут, мол "холодное оружие", и все дела.
Вобшем завидую я тебе белой завистью.

Добрый вечер! Спасибо за интерес и внимание. Ну смотрите. Чаще всего материал для реставрации я нахожу на блошиных рынках, металл приёмных пунктах, так же меня просят друзья, а иногда это просто заказ. И конечно же окружение, многие знаю что я фанат всего старого и сообщают где, кто что продает или меняет. Часто продавцы меняют и меня это радует. п.с. я посмеялся про ваше мнение "как Алекс находит вещи"))) Вам тоже удачи! Надеюсь вы найдете то, ибо тот, кто ищет, всегда найдёт.

Nice Restoration work.
It is an elegant knife even though it is a stoutly made One. Most knives with a curved blade and a curved handle tend toward the thin side. I liked this knife very much. Great job.

Видишь, как получилось? Рукоять перевешивает. Так делать нельзя. Можно потерять нож. Пришей к ножнам манжету, скрывающую часть рукоятки, как на финских ножах, и уже к ней, петлю для пояса.
В целом, получился вполне приличный нож!

Класс!!! Правильно сделал, что убрал пластиковую ручку. Только утяжеляет нож, а толку от нее ноль. В руках скользит, на холоде так вообще дрянь. Удачных проектов👍👍👍🤝

А для того чтобы просверлить калёную сталь. Попробуйте сверло по кафелю и керамике "такое остренькое, победитовое" на малых оборотах без нажима большого и с постоянным охлаждением. Я подшипник так просверлил в лёгкую. Удачи.
