Restoration Old Rusty TURKISH SABER Kilij

- Hello folks! Today I am restoring a very old object. This is the Turkish saber Kilij. This saber is similar to shamshir and ottoman sword. Of course, for almost 200, and maybe more years, he has lost a lot of weight, rust has eaten a lot of metal. The object was found during the cultivation of the land in the mountainous region of my country. Of course, the task is difficult, but I will try to bring him feelings. The item goes to a private museum for viewing! Well, lets start restoration!
First, I placed the blade in a rust remover, after a few hours I washed and dried it. Some of the rust remained, I removed it with an iron brush. What was left of the cutting edge, I tried to straighten and round off so that it would not cling and scratch. I cut the hilt of the saber from a thicker piece of steel and welded it.
After metalworking, he moved on to creating the very handle of the sword. The material at the request of the customer was chosen old dry boxwood, the tree is capricious, but if there is a task - it must be done. I fixed the handle with epoxy resin and three rivets.
After processing the handle, I moved on to creating a scabbard. I used wood for the scabbard, after manual processing I pasted it with thin natural dark leather and started creating brass fittings. I made the holder, the upper and lower glass.
The saber is certainly not sharpened, there is nothing to sharpen and the customer asked in advance not to sharpen it. But I did a test, and it turned out to be very fun! I hope you like it! Thank you for your attention, success and health to all!
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

GOOD LUCK AN HEALTH TO YOU . A GREAT JOB , VERY GOOD WORK . THANK YOU
Hello! Thank you, you too mate! Happy new year
Sometimes when I’m making handles depending on the wood type, lightly charring the pieces partially through shaping can harden them enough to avoid chipping on the more delicate sections.
Beautiful work!
Thank you!
Good job, Alex!
Thank you mate ^_^

Nice one. The tip part you see, is a little bigger than the rest. That’s how you spot a kılıç. But this one’s got chipped away so it was not easy to spot. By the way, if you get your hands on another one as not destroyed as this one, there’s a tip for you. When you sharpen the cutting edge, sharpen both sides of the thick tip (yalman). It is designed that way. It is thicker because it is designed to be used on horseback. You are gallopinf at full speed and swing your sword, cutting your opponent in half. And when u get dismounted, you can use the sword for stabbing since both sides of the tip are sharpened.
Greetings to you! Thank you so much for your attention and advice. I didn't know that, I wonder. Yes, I saw such an object for the first time, but now I have experience. Happy New Year! All the best
@@ScrewsAndTools You too man cheers
Beautiful work, still allow me to differ with the owner in that to pick , not so good a material for the handle! I think there were far more better options, without naming them !
Thanks again !
Muito bom
Really like your channel brother, but in my humble opinion you make the handle to thin right there, but the sheath is well done made good job, love from indonesia🇮🇩
Thank you for attetnion!
Good work on that Turk!
Thank you for attetnion!

Thank you! Yes, i was impressed too)

NICE WORK IF U CAN GET IT
Hello Roadrunner hope you are well and have had a fantastic Christmas my friend. You made a superb job of restoring that sword lovely brass work 👍👍👍😊😊😊♥️

Hello Zou! Thank you for attetnion and Happy New Year ^_^
Beautiful work, my friend! Happy Holidays!
Thank you so much! ^_^
You definitely made a silk purse out of that sow's ear! Beautiful scabbard.
Greetings! Thank you so much for your attention and happy New year!
You are very funny man love what you do keep up the good work
Thank you for attetnion! ^_^
Fuckin great video, glad you're getting work from museums. seeing how giddy you got swinging that blade was hilarious and i hope you get more work from these guys in the future.
Greetings! Thanks for attention. Yes, I thought during the test the blade would break or the handle))
Very nice work 👍👍beep beep
