Restoration of Rusty Old Knife

- Hi! Today the restoration is with a "surprise!". A friend brought this lump of dirt and said there was a knife or an arrow. I hope it's a knife. Well, whatever it is, I'm starting the restoration!
Primarily. I removed all the dirt, removed the thick layer of rust and left the "item" in the rust remover for 3 days. Further, after rinsing and cleaning, I realized that it's a small knife.
I sanded the surface of the knife by hand and sharpened it. The handle was made of deer horn, I was lucky the horn turned out to have a very convenient shape for the handle.
After that, I made a wooden scabbard out of beech wood and genuine leather. I also made a suspension with a length regulator.
As usual, I made an interesting and delicious test for you. I hope you enjoy this restoration! Don't forget to share, please!
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

An old very rusty dagger 😍ruclips.net/video/lBgmxYnRpe8/видео.html
most people would have binned that. You gave it a wonderful new life! Love the mix of the clean edge against the pitting
Thank you!!
❤ I love your videos, humor, beauty, mastery, and video editing ❤
Loved the end result. Small treasure hidden beneath the trash for sure. Thanks for sharing!
You rescued that little knife and put it to good use, now I'm hungry and will go and make a burger! Beep Beep :) Stay well friend!
Yeah! Thanks and bon appetite))
Another great result from what looked like scrap. The handle was especially pleasing.
Thanks!
A amazing project, so glad you have shared it.
Truly impressive. I really like it more than a big fancy sword or shiny hatchet. And thank you for always making my day just a little bit brighter.
I am glad to read your feedback. Thanks!
Another fabulous restoration beautifully done ❤
Thank you!!
Wow, amazing job Alex! I never thought a knife could be made from what you unwrapped in the beginning of the video, especially one as nice and useful as the one you created. Great job, the sandwich looked delicious too!
Thanks!!
Muy buena restauración,saludos desde Argentina!!
Absolutely gorgeous little knife
Thanks!
Nicely done!
Hi Alex Tom and Peggy from South Carolina in the USA! Just finished watching the restoration of Knife or arrow. Again great work. I'm not sure if we text you when you asked if we wanted to hear your voice or not. We love hearing everything you say, love the beep-beep! So talk away is Far as we are concerned! And we would love to see you restore anything. You are so talented Alex. Love from America. Beep-beep!
Hi Tom and Peggy! Yes, you wrote about the audio track in the video, but after the survey, everyone likes it, but if possible and for interest, I will come up with something from this part. Thanks for watching
You are super creatures idea. It turns out beautifully. Thank you for sharing this great video. 👍
Thank you!
I like what you did with the handle. The antler already looks great so there's no need to modify it much.
Yeah! Thanks. I like it too
Used in a really really really bad crime? Maybe….
Love these videos!!!!
Good work!
buen trabajo Saludos desde Buenos Aires
That hamburger looked magnificent.
Absolutely fantastic work I really enjoy your videos
Thanks!
Great job I love the handle. And thats how you put onions on a burger a whole thick slice.
Your videos are my favorite on all of RUclips. Long time watcher first time comment thank you for the great entertainment sir!!
Thank you so much for your attention and interest and for staying with me
Nice work
well done 🥰🤩. the old bladesmiths really know their stuff. I would not bend any of my modern (some very expensive) kitchen knifes like this. 🤔
I agree with you. Despite the condition of the knife, the quality of the steel is good and I like this knife
Vc realmente é um gênio Alex
Hello Alex, what a great restoration! The knife reminds me of a frontiersmans secondary knife, one he would use for food preparation or skinning of small game. But the sheath with the antler accent is superb! Thank you for another amazing video! All the very best to You and Yours from Brian in Southern California
Greetings, Brian! ! Thank you for your interest. Yes, I think so too, the most amazing thing is the steel is good)
Bravo,Maestro!🇪🇦❤😊
beautiful knife
Eccezionale! Rock'n'roll!
Fantastic little restoration there brother, I don't normally like burgers but finished watching and I'm now craving a burger hahaha. Best wishes from here in the UK.
Awesome! I would say it was a speer tip originally.
GOOD LUCK Aleks !
❤ from Indonesia...
Good peice of work!
Thanks!
It’s beautiful I do re-enactments of the American Revolutionary War and that would make a perfect patch knife I love it
Just a note for you..sore on left hand near thumb is infected based on drainage noted and redness around wound. Suggest you cleanse the wound thoroughly with soap and water, pat dry, put antibiotic ointment on it and cover it with bandaid. If redness gets bigger or doesn’t go away please see a doctor.
@@anonimgeo1299 👍👍😂😂🍷
Not bad advice, but the eschar looks old and dry, as from a thermal or chemical burn, and the redness is normal for the healing process and not alarming, as there is no concomitant swelling indicative of pus under the skin. I’d just monitor for those things, and leave it alone. Any sign of streaking toward the wrist, or frank swelling or drainage, it may have to be opened and oral antibiotics, but I doubt it at this stage. Not a doctor, though. Seen a few things over the last six decades, maybe. Love your work and humor.
@@mred8002 the only way to heal a wound is the eschar needs to come off. Redness is a sign of inflammation from the infection. His hands are dirty and get dirty with his work. Worse thing to do is leave this area uncovered.
@@jillvankerschaver1311 The scab is dry, with no new drainage. There is no swelling under the wound to indicate abscess formation. While there is some inflammation, it is only to the degree expected from a healing lesion. So long as the scab is intact, the wound is sealed, and further intervention is not needed. Sure, his hands are dirty from his work,, but he does not seem to be adverse to hand washing. It most closely resembles a thermal burn from hot metal or an acid spatter. I’ve seen many varieties of such in fifty years of nursing.
Very inspiring and informative Excellent God Bless You ...Greeting from Indonesian traditional gold prospecting 🇮🇩🍝🍜🔪🍽️🍴
Thank you!
Absolument génial, j'adore votre façon de travailler.
Merci!
Wow ❤❤❤❤
You did a good job

Very cool.

Another fantastic piece 👍👍🇮🇪
Awesome always cool stuff always thanks
Thanks!
Another miracle executed perfectly by you Alex. Awesome. Glad the cat curtain is back.
Thank you!)))
Geez I hate watching your videos when I’m hungry 😂.
Nice job once more mate 👍
Thanks))))
In the US we call that a paring knife. Used for preparing fruits and vegetables. ✌️😎
Thanks!
Nice knife, nice video, great looking burgers! 🍔
Thank you!
Mr. Alex, this is a wonderful and beautiful restoration! If it were up to me, I would have the metal of the knife examined and tested to determine how it was made. It is like the fabled original Damascus (from the persian and ottoman empire) and modern tamahagane (from Japan). For something to have arrived very coated with dirt and rust but to be so flexible and durable is amazing.
Thanks for interest!
A very good blade, being flexible yet hard. Maybe a blade out out of an older sword? I enjoyed the baby scabbard, very cool!
Damn I'm 2 hours away from my lunch break and I see bro take down a delicious burger 🍔
muito bom...
You never fail to amaze me, my friend. Beep! Beep!
Thank you!
great job on restoration of knife or arrow -maybe you know screw and tools ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Again, congratulations, you’re making great things.
Yet, sincerely, I would leave alone that thing as at the minute 2:30. Keeping it in that stage could be more interesting, more mysterious. But, you always know better what to do.
Best guess: knife.
Nice work as always your friend must be a metal detectorist
That's right, he likes it. He has already given me such "surprises " probably 5 times
I loved the video but now I want a cheeseburger with dill pickles, onions, and mayonnaise!
))thanks!
Very cool
Knife or arrow? A "knarrow" 😊
Cool! :-)
I think it is a fishing knife.
The tang being hardened suggests to me that it was the tip end of a much longer knife or even sword that was broken, and rather than scrap it someone shaped the end into a tang to make a knife from it. Then it got dropped and lost, the handle rotted away, and eventually it was found in the condition you got it in.
Knife tangs are almost never hardened as you know, because that makes the transition point from blade to tang much more susceptible to breaking. You might have been able to anneal it with a torch… or not…. depending on the type of steel it is made of.
Anyway, you’ve given it new life with a beautiful new handle. May it serve you well.
An interesting thought and story - perhaps it was so. Now the knife is really convenient for small jobs. Thanks
👍👍👍👍👍👍
