    Getting secondary stats to 14 can be useful to give additional armour options. An archer with enough str to wear high physical armour pieces, or mage with the same, is handy.

    Lonewolf looks like a more difficult way to play but in actuality makes the game ALOT easier compared to the standard.

    • @TheDemonThorn
      @TheDemonThorn 4 года назад +33

      I tried Lonewolf for the first time today and it was way easier. new to the game, I went with the full party and everything felt difficult, even till level 15. when I got Lonewolf on a new play through it was all a breeze. it's so much easier to have 2 strong characters and 4 average ones that do ok damage and get cc'd easily.

      @@marky1974 mark, I hope I’m not too late. It’s both easier and harder. It’s easier to manage one hero, who can do more, than four who depend on their synergies.
      In my experience, lone Wolf (on harder difficulties) requires you to play “tighter,” or there’s less wiggle room for errors, near act 3, and especially 4, when enemies pack a punch,
      It does, however, make act 1 and 2 very trivial and can be a fun adventure. :) highly recommend playing both ways to find what’s your style

      @@marky1974 I would recommend to not play as a lone wolf for teh first time as you would get used to all the stats and APs. It is not that punishing so you would not learn so much about the game.

    Couple of things (and yeah, I know I'm ludicrously late):
    Certain talents that are easy to overlook become potentially very effective with Lone Wolf:
    Five Star Dinner - double effect of potions and food items. May sound gimmicky, but with Lone Wolf health bonus... Percentage based heal from food becomes all the more valuable.
    For the same reason - increased health, that is - a gimmicky build based on vitality, comeback kid, morning person and unstable may be, in some ways hilarious.
    Also - polymorph was completely overlooked here... I understand it is gimmicky at times but still - this is the only exception from general doubling rule of Lone Wolf... You do not get double points from Lone Wolf, but bonus attribute points DO get doubled still.
    On top of that - Polymorph may be a good complementary ability for some builds - allowing you so squeeze some additional attribute points if you already maxed primary abilities. On top of that - the utility it provides is also great - skingraft + apotheosis combo can be gamebreaking with some abilities.

    • @DrZaius3141
      @DrZaius3141 5 лет назад +3

      I feel that when it comes to most LW builds, the attribute points are far less valuable than the ability points. So Poly isn't too great, eventhough I have a thing for the Medusa stuff.

    I ran a variant of your stormchaser build in DE where I built into Hydro as a secondary tree, but also maxed out Scoundrel, dipped into warfare and huntsman to take their respective teleport abilities, and took The Pawn. Insane mobility, Which gave me a LOT of unique options in fights that either had an unusually large arena, or where repositioning quickly was key.

    • @astronemir
      @astronemir 5 лет назад

      Do you have any more info on this?

    • @SciFiSpeedster
      @SciFiSpeedster 5 лет назад +2

      After I maxed out Areothurge in my Lone wolf run, I split my points between Hydrosophist and Scoundrel. Scoundrel's movement + crit bonus pairs well with Savage Sortilige for amazing damage and The Pawn for great movement, plus Adrenaline and Cloak and Dagger are good in virtually any situation. Hydrosophist just gave me another damage type for enemies with air resistance and some decent magic armor regeneration.
      Whether it was "efficient" or not, I also dipped one point (plus another from Lone Wolf) into warfare and huntsman so I could take Phoenix dive and tactical retreat. With those two skills, plus cloak and dagger, plus nether swap, plus the movement from The Pawn and points in Scoundrel, meant in any fight I could position myself pretty much anywhere I wanted for my aoe-sround-self skills for at most 1-2 AP.
      Both major points in act 3 where you need to reach a goal as quickly as possible (the imp Pocket dimension and the race to well of ascension) I was able to cross the entire map to reach the goal in a single turn.
      Difficulty was classic, other player played a Fire/Earth focused mage.
      I didn't host, so I don't have access to exact numbers on the build.
      Like I said, I'm not sure whether movement-focused aerothurge build would be as efficient in higher difficulties, but it got me by, and was loads of fun to play.

    Loopholing the heck out of LW with a technical 4-Man Wrecking Crew
    Both characters:
    10 Summoning
    10 Warfare
    10 Scoundrel
    10 Two-Handed
    2 Polymorph
    40 Strength
    40 Intelligence
    40 Wits
    Lone Wolf (Obvious)
    All Skilled Up
    Bigger And Better
    Executioner
    Leech (Flexible)
    (Two humans, due to Encourage, make this significantly stronger than any other race combination. Except maybe Fane, due to Time Warp).
    First round is spent summoning and buffing Incarnates (maybe a second round, if you think you're going to need all those buffs, though I only really needed Power and Shadow). Polymorph 2 offers Heart of Steel for Phys. Armor heal, Chameleon Cloak is your "Oh, shit!" button, and Bull Horns grants you Bull Rush which is almost identical to Battering Ram. Yes, you can use both (even chain them) and they're great for closing distance. I often chained them between conveniently lined-up enemies, stripping armor with Bull Rush and knocking down with Battering Ram. You can also bring totems if you want but I felt they were a waste of Action Points compared to anything else I could spend them on. They're okay if your heart's just not in the fight.
    The only thing I ever had trouble with was cooldowns. I could have sacrificed a point in something to put one more in Polymorph for Skin Graft, which cools down all of that character's skills for one round. Looking back now, taking a point out of Scoundrel wouldn't have significantly hurt the curb stomp I was giving this game.
    In summary: Lone Wolf and Summoning turn any difficulty into EZ mode.

    I realize this is an older video so you might not see this but my only issue with these guides is you reference stuff from your other videos but then offer no further explanation, not even a little. So my only option is to find your video on the thing you just referenced but this happens every video so i end up with seven videos open trying to make heads or tails of what your talking about. I realize you have class build videos and i can go watch those if i want further details however you made THIS video to explain how to make those builds Lone Wolf, which is what im interested in. But you gloss over the actual builds as if ive already watched the original video. This again leads to me havig to watch multiple build guides to even understand this one, which is time and effort i could spend watching a more dedicated video. I really like you delivery and how you explain the various things i CAN understand and would love to get more out of these videos without having to go through your catalog of videos to fully understand what your talking about. I would suggest that you make a dedicated video for each of your builds and go over the small changes needed to make them a viable Lone Wolf build. I realize, again, that this takes up a lot of time but if you, as a creator, are going to make an explanation video then it needs to be made as if the watchers are fresh off the boat and new to Fort Joy. This means some of the more experienced watchers might get a little annoyed by the rehashing of already known topics but it would ease newer players into the game much easier than having to watch seven videos at once to understand your guides. I am new to this game and have used many of your videos to help ease me into this hard ass game but even after watching many, MANY of your videos i am lost most of the time due to this glossing over already made video topics. You make these guides, im guessing, to help new players but they dont do that if we can't understand them. Jesus this is a long ass comment. But i had to say it. Please, PLEASE fix this issue with these guides.

It is OP and nothing has phased them, not even those magical moments where the AI has had enough of my entirely covering the map in poison before initiative begins and decides to throw a fire ball. Because the undead trait heals from poison and because rain/corruption does not trigger initiative the game is easily rigged.

    Not sure if you've tested but, Fire arrow consumable on a lone wolf archer potentially does more damage than a regular shot if Pyrokinetic is maxed out. Similar to your poison archer build, you could replicate into flames and also max Pyrokinetic. Considering a Fire Arrow consumable is scaled based off of your damage, wouldn't in theory the damage be increased *also* by warfare etc? Food for thought.

    I will never be a min/max player and I am enjoying a split damage cc machine LW playing with a friend who is a tank physical. On tactician it's a blast.
    I have to ask though. How can people call dumping everything into one stat and one skill a "build"?
    Everyone is like, check out my "Necroganker" of doom. Full int, necro and warfare. Then the next video is check out my "necromanflanker". Full int, warfare and necro. And so on. Everyone has the same "build" but calls it something different.

    Imo most efficient build for Lone Wolf is just boring pure damage archer. You can max out Huntsman, Ranged, Warfare and dump rest of points into Scoundrel for crit damage. Maxing finesse is easy, then wits for crit chance, and bam - you have a murder machine that deals more damage from basic attacks than other characters deal from high damage skills (even memory is not necessary since you get a memory slot every two levels).
    You forgot that you need to almost always dump some points into stats that are not efficient for you, but allow you to equip some elements of armor that are just better than armor that favors your normal stat. You must be really lucky or hunt for specific uniques to get a good stat armor that will not make you waste stat points, both early on as well as late in the game.
    Also... does anyone really need a guide for Lone Wolf? Game becomes such a face roll with that trait. I'd strongly encourage just having fun when playing Lone Wolf and crafting your own way to play and build you want to use. ^^

    • @dodang_9147
      @dodang_9147 5 лет назад

      The game is pretty faceroll in 4 players as in it is 2 players. As long your build includes Evasion Aura x4 in 4 player and Cloak+Uncanny Evasion in Lonewolf. It's probably going to win with almost any logical build. Also, because Lonewolf has so many "free stats", you can basically always mix Int+str armor on mages, therefore staff build is best build for mages because it optimizes their damage output, which in turn sometimes makes them better than ranger builds because of aoe moves vs single target damage.

      Since you will max out your Primary Attribute and Wits and have points left over, Polymorph will not increase your damage (except early on in the game). hey i'm currently watching all your videos and reading all your guides and they are awesome ty for that!(esp the newer ones :) )
    Im currently starting over with a juggernaut build and in the guide you emphasise on reactive armor A LOT and with that on a build with a shield
    however in this video you say you should focus on two handed with the juggernaut- so is the build on your homepage not updated? is reactive armor not as good anymore?

    Can you bring story characters with a lone wolf build? Like, 2 lone wolf characters + 2 story characters? Or does it mean that all your fights will be with 2 characters in total? What about when you're walking around? Can you then bring story characters, and right before a battle "bench" (dismiss?) them so that your wolf builds work correctly? I started the game on PS4 2 years ago and I'm pretty sure I custom made 2 lone wolf characters and then I always had 2 story characters with me and I switched them up to to their quests.... was that not what I was supposed to do?

    These guides are a bit miss-informative when it comes to certain aspects. Focusing on either physical or magical damage is not essential, you can mix and match and still outperform pure physical/magical parties when it comes to most encounters. Enemies usually have either more physical or more magical armor, and reducing the one that is lower so you can to CC asap is a decent strategy. The less the enemy hits you the more you can hit him back. each point you spend on anything has diminishing returns. Since damage is gear + stat dependant. I have been playing what I like to call the elemental champions where each party member focuses on 1 school of elemental magic and then 2 other classes and I have yet to use a single res scroll. I distribute points equally between their weapon choice attribute and their classes and positions. My pyro rogue usually can 1 shot most enemies in classic mode. My geo warrior is impossible to strip armor from with heavy reliance on positioning and attacks of opportunity. When I use abilities I focus on stripping magic armor for petrify from medusa's head. My Water Aero Necro strips both phyisical armor and magic armor very fast, and can choose which one she wants to stip. Controls the battlefield beautifully. My Huntsman has summoner and some aero skill. Positions super easily and usually is my main source of CC with a combination of the empowered incarnate and his aero skills on wet ground. Never lost a fight. No reliance on pure builds. Just play what is fun for you, the game isn't that hard except for the first 2 levels. Once you are level 3 with some gear it's a breeze.

      Also pick something, and maybe don't go lonewolf the first time but do a party build you can then select 4 different builds that you can mold your party after.
      Trust me I have now 3 weeks in the game and I have made countless builds that never left or got far in Ford Joy, but I now have 4 characters in a group with builds that I think are fun to play with...
      Because in the end you play with all your party members nothing on your side is done with AI.
      But my main tip, pick a build and stick with it, it gets more fun when you spend some time in fort Joy and you leveled a few times.
