I had the most loving little parrotlet he flew away out the door and I’ve never seen him since I live in Scotland I don’t think he could survive the cold . I miss him so much .I have a new one now but he is petrified of my hands .the one I lost just loved people and flew to us right away .he nipped a lot to start with but that calmed down almost stopped.now I have to start all over again .any tips?
Be patient. I find that Parrotlets have strong personalities. Some are more comfortable with people but I'm sure yours will bond with you again. Spend as much time as you can with your new Parrotelet, that helps. Keep me updated. What's your Parrotlet's name?
@ParrotBliss i have 2 pairs that live in 2 separate cages. Im planning on putting them in one large cage. Ive been bringing their cages together daily and letting them out to see how they interact. The male of one couple is adamant to groom and feed the female of the other pair. No agression but i feel bad for the partners, its like im watching an affair! 😄 so i dont know if they will go ok in all together
@@ParrotBliss the problem I'm having is when i put the pairs back in their cages the male that is keen on the others female is now lunging at the female he was so snuggly with when i bought them, and his female chases the male of the other pair. This is outside of cages on neutral grounds I'm abit worried when or if I put them all together.
I am planning to adopt two sibling parrotlets but I’m really worried that they won’t bond with me or be tolerant of my budgie and cockatiel who have free reign of the bird room for at least 4-5 hours a day. I’m around them for most of that time. I’m worried how the siblings would be open to integrating into the new home. I do have a massive flight cage that they can use with multiple feeding stations. Training is very important to me and my concern is that if I take one sibling out, they won’t focus on the training if the other one just keeps calling out. Do you have any advice or suggestions? I feel like I’d be better off getting just one bird and letting it bond with me, the budgie and the tiel but I sometimes feel bad for my current birds as they’re both different species and don’t have access to their own kind. I’m so confused!
Reminds me of bonding bunnies some. It took me almost 4 months to bond my rabbits somewhat in the manner you expressed with cages and such. They're very happy couple now, of course some bond way quicker. So interesting to hear about it in the parrot world and seem similar.
One of my favorite videos, such a wealth of information to understand parrolettes, I'm so used to having budgies and cockateils ~ my northern Ontario Canadian town just started bringing in parrolettes and I've learnt so much from you, so different in mannerisms from budgies and cockateils, but I can finally say their lives are so enriched now that I understand them, thanks to your many videos on parrolettes. Chirp chirp from me and Bella and Stella the parrolettes 💕😍
How fantastic! Yes, very different Parrotlets vs Budgies and Tiels- so happy to hear that my vids have helped with your Parrotlets. They are wonderful little guys!
Appereciate the video. Currently thinking about getting a parrotlet maybe two. I've owned a quaker before, but feel like parrotlet might be somewhat quieter which I appreciate now that I live in an apartment
Yes, Quakers are bigger and, therefore, louder. We rotate who is in the office and when we had 4 Parrotlets, sometimes I never heard them. Often they are happy and excited and you hear them in the morning or evening, but if I was in an apartment, they would be my first choice. And I would totally get two!!! Twice the fun if you spend time with them!
Excellent video. I have got and adult 4 y/o male parrotlet. I now acquired a 2.5 m/o hand-feeded male. How long should I wait to start putting them together in the same cage?
I have a bonded m/f pair but the female has never been tame & bites like crazy, ouch!! The male is tame but is now becoming semi-untamed bc of the wild girl. Do you think the CBD tincture will help her chill out?

Yeah, they have preferences. Don't worry, if 2 pair up, the other 2 probably will too.

Thanks to you my parrotlet Ziggy now has a friend 🙏🏻

Yeah, all animals need to be watched- good to hear you had the same with bunnies!

LMK if that helps!
