Your hydraulic piston will have more force on the extension as opposed to the contraction. The reason is that the shaft of the piston displaces the fluid, which lowers the ratio between the pump output and the pistol housing volume.
I know that, and difference is not so small, on this small cylinder 4mm mean a lot.
I would love to see a "part 2" of this video that exhibits the difference (pushing, rather than pulling, force).

Dir fehlt bei Neutral die "P-T" Verbindung, damit das Öl bei laufender Pumpe
druckfrei in den Tank zurückfließen kann.

Thqnks, yup i already got recorded material, i must start editing, but there's always some other project ;-) tomorow will upload another laser review video than i think i start editing valve video.
You tested the strength backwards, you tested pull strength and the cylinder would prove to be much more powerful in push mode, the affective area is higher on the piston end without rod, hence more psi. example is a 2inch piston with 1inch rod, 100 psi on pull side with rod would equal, 100 psi strength, BUT, on the push side with 2 inch, you get 200psi strength with the same 100psi input. Effective Area
dylan rink exactly, but i must to do some gouge to test push side of cylinder. that was more easier way to measure the "weak"side.
I get that, but in the real world nobody really cares what a cylinder will pull, cylinders are designed to do work, and the most work is push, the pull side is just to move the implement back to work mode. check out the oring store as they have tiny hydraulic seals that you can use to increase life and and ultimately pressure for more power.
You need only to make the cylinder push against your scale to measure the force, tons of ways to hold it st a level where the scale can read it.
all in all great job, I have been wanting to build some rc hydraulic stuff and have been searching for what the commercial guys are using for seals, I thought of orings but the life is short, orings aren't meant to move. couple nights ago I found the tiny seals on that site with bore diameters of 1/8 inch or .125" or 3.175mm

agreed. my interest stems of wanting to scratch build an excavator, I own a cnc machine shop. I'm not used to building the hobby way, reason for my searching out real hydraulic seals for the cylinders. The pump would be an interesting part to build. and I do appreciate your valve photos, great insight
dylan rink pump is so easy to make just need a propper gear (9mm in my case voth low amount of tooth).

Very interested by your set-up. Am I correct in assuming that the control you are turning in 2:50 is powering on the pump then reversing its flow???
M Prior true, i controll esc which controls motor rpm, cylinder go bacward by it self (weight gauge spring) valve is always opened.

Thanks for the speedy reply. Ah gotcha. The scales have a spring... of course. So the only time you are manually controlling the flow direction in the cylinder is at the start of the video with what appears to be a directional valve controller of some kind. Is this correct?

Where is the pressure relief valve?
it's not there, you must program the rc that only run motor when the valve is open.
Hmm... I understand. Can i ask one more question. Can we control the cylinder like servos? With potansiometer 0-1023 full open or half open. Is that possible? Thank you for reply. :)
+Muhammed Sevik Yes it work like proportional valve (like analog) that mean you Can control speed of cylinder depend on how much you open the valve, also you Can stop the cylinder in any position and it hold the position.
I couldnt tell you exactly what i need. I want the cylinder works like servos. When i turn tur potantiometer 1023 servo turns 180 degree angle. When i turn the potantiometer any value servo turns this angle. I need cylinder works like servo. When i turn the potantiometer 1023 cylinder must open full or potantiometer 0 cylinder must full close. Is that possible? Sorry for bad english and thanks for reply.

beter option for this is Electric cylinder (search for servo actuator)
