Awesome, Thanks for the update! Happy to hear these units are doing well, especially the dryer. Most electric dryers struggle to get things dry like my Samsung. But then again 9.0cu.ft is plenty room for comforters to stretch out and get completely dry. I’m still deciding between G.E. Or LG. I have a huge laundry room but don’t want my space taken away, so I’m deciding on size as well. Anyways, can’t wait for the two year update! 😂
Yes the dryer is definitely underrated. It works so well at low temperatures. I am almost scared to turn it to medium or high 😂! I know I’m definitely biased, but I would steer away from G.E they have some cool designs and innovations, but they aren’t direct drive and most of them are made in China. Unfortunately GE Electrolux used to be some of the best washers around but unfortunately GE was sold off to a Chinese company after going bankrupt essentially. My brand new kitchen set is GE. And the electronics in the microwave are already acting up 😭
I would avoid GE - their electric dryers have been known to trip circuit breakers (not their own!). GE technician said he gets a couple calls a week on this issue. I ended up returning mine, and got these LG units.
I just purchased the same washer. You have really excited about my purchase. I did a lot of research just like you did on this washer and others and so far this is my pic I was wondering the app download is a pretty complicated or is a pretty easy to do to customize my loads.
I found the app easy to use. Unfortunately, you cannot customize cycles or create your own cycles. You can, however download extra calls that are not on the display. I downloaded a cycle called Econowash, and use it almost every day! Congratulations on your purchase btw! I’m sure you’re going to like it
hi, im writing from Italy, we allways had front load washers here, but smaller than this and i don't understand why buy a huge staff like that take an entire roome for them just for washing at 10 for cent of them capacity, but the way im a lg fan, but the last ai dd are less depth and more wide drum, and this cause that in spin cycle they are so loud, i gifted my ai dd after changing the shock absorber for nothing because i see a lot of video and all of them are so loud... i have the old series 2 of them not aidd since 7 years they only had shock absorbers replaced once and still working perfectly and very quite, a raccomandation that i want to tell you, is to use a powder detergent you there have tide powder that is amazing, at least once a week, for bedding or for white towels, with extra hot water and long cycle, this will also clean the machine from liquid detergent residue that building app, let the mud and bacteria build inside where you don't see and also destroy the bearings of the drum, crazy so at least once a week a very long extra hot cycle with powder detergent will keep it clean, you just need to keep drawer and door open after use and every 2 o 3 mounth a drum cleaning cycle with a washing machine cleaner and cleaning the drawer the pump and the gasket and that's it.
Nice video! 🙂 Do you think you would ever go back to a top loader one day? I've always heard from people online complaining how front loaders don't use enough water to clean and I was wondering if that's true. I thought frontloadets would clean better since the clothes are agitated more by the tumbling but I only ever used a frontloader so I have nothing to compare to. Thanks!
I am getting just the washer for 1050$ from costco plus there is a 40$ rebate, is that a good deal. I thought about getting the WM6500 but a reviewer on LG said his blew up with all the pictures (looks scary) plus controls are all through the knob to see all the different loads. Unfortunately I have the DLEX4200W which is white and will be 1.5 inch shorter than the the wm8980 (from costco). also dryer door is round.
Great video! Is it really quiet and low vibration? We have an all wood home and are most concerned about quiet and being low vibration, especially for the next door or adjacent rooms. Thank you so much!
It is for the most part. We had our house built from the ground up, unfortunately, the very center of the home all ties together right around where the laundry room is AND unfortunately there is a little hump in this area. We even noticed it pretty early on in the framing, but at that point, there wasn’t much they could do 😠 Just make sure it’s very level! I didn’t do a very good job, leveling it in the beginning and it did make a racket, especially when I put heavy items in it. I wouldn’t be too concerned, these are fairly smooth and quiet. With any washing machine, there’s always going to be some noise and vibration, but this is about as good as it gets.
My current Whirlpool front loader has holes in the very bottom of the door gasket that allows any water to drain away after the wash. You mentioned having to wipe yours out. I never have to do that because the water is gone when my washer quits. Are there any holes in the bottom of your gasket? Is there any water left in the gasket area after your washer shuts off?? Asking because my 15 year old Duet set is on it's last legs and not sure about the current Whirlpool reviews and their build quality decreasing. Thanks.
Hi! Yes it technically has 4 drain holes. I noticed a very small amount of water pools up here and there, small enough to usually evaporate after a day or so, but I just go ahead and wipe it out of abundance of caution, and my OCD 😂! The old duets were good units! But you’d LOVE and new LG! Thanks for watching
How much restriction do you have with the doors opening since your machines are against the walls on both sides? Is it a problem or not? I would have similar space constraints. thanks
Hey! I think it’s more of a marketing thing, than anything. Maybe if you live in a space where you cannot keep the door open or cracked it might be the perfect washer, but in most cases it’s unnecessary. I think also, you have to manually turn it on after each wash cycle, it’s not like it automatically is drying itself from my understanding? I don’t like about that washer is the large exterior dimensions. Even though it has the same or smaller drum size, then say an LG or a Samsung. They are just big! We rented a house last fall on vacation with those units and I was surprised how large they were.
Trying to decide if I should go with the front load. Always had a top loader. The number one complaint is the mold and funk you don’t clean out the rings. Somebody said when it’s on a spin cycle, it also rattles around quite a bit. Is that true?😊
During the spin cycle my 20 year old Bosch sounds like an Harrier Jet. I just close my laundry room door. Most top loads are louder during the spin. Do have to wipe inside of door and door gasket. Keep washer door open so air gets in. Do tub clean before leaving on vacation then wipe gasket ect.
I just got my washer like yours but how do you do a rinse by itself ? Like if u left it done for a while and u want to do another final rinse ? I know if u hit rinse for 3 seconds it drains and spins but it doesn’t rinse right ?
Can I ask one question though I know this model comes with the auto dispensing but if I have to use a different detergent for a specific item is there an area for detergent that isn’t the auto dispenser?
Hello how are you I have read quite a few different places where most of the LG front loading washers the 8100 to 6700 to 8900 Etc are very rough on delicate clothes even when on the delegate cycl? I am considering to purchase the 8900 model but was just curious about that.... Thanks a lot
Hi! Some of LGs have the aluminum paddles in the drum, this one has the smooth plastic ones. I have not found anything seem worn or any concerns. The downloaded hand wash/wool cycle is EXTREMELY delicate. I would feel confident with my clothes lasting for years and years to come
When I finally get my washer set I will inform the group. There was a family that had the 8900 Series washer and dryer that the purchased from Lowe's with an extended 3-year warranty and the only wanted 1500$ for the set and was only 45 days old,. However they were loaded up with the matching dryer. The salesman said 8900 washer is out of stock, which may mean they are probably stopping production of the 8900 series, who knows?! I guess I will still try to go for the 8900 set, but the twiced missed deal is really bothering me andI cannot get the wm8900 out of my brain! Yes! It has an air dry setting. I use it fairly often 😊 thanks for commenting and watching
Wow what a cutie!
How much did u pay plus tax
How big for space? I can have 27 inch max for each unit.
These are 29 inches wide
How many minutes is the default normal cycle?
The normal cycle is one of the cycles that is weighed, so it depends on how much clothes you put in. But I would say usually within 30-40 minutes. You get a thorough, rinse, as well as a spray rinse on the normal cycle. 🔁
Do you have the model number?
WM8900HBA
What setting do you recommend for difficult/set-in stains for a wash cycle? Also, have you ever had to run something through twice?
I use the heavy duty cycle- it keeps the detergent in clothes for about an hour or more before rinsing, that way it can really help the detergent work its magic!
There is also a downloadable cycle called “sweat stain” that I like using too! Works very well getting out stains
Does it leak?
Nope, not a drop!
If you have a small leak from the door, make sure to clean the inside glass door, especially at the bottom where the gasket and the glass meet. I keep that area clean, wiping it good every few days
Are you single? 👀🙈
🙊no haha 😂, but thanks for asking 😊!
