If I were going to go with a traditional agitator machine, I'd go with a Speed Queen commercial. But then again, those will be $300 more. @ThatCoolIndian yes the shipping bolts are installed at the factory to endure your washer drum does not move while transporting. If there not removed before use, they will do unfixable damage. (Updated today 10/15) I have the same model washer and its on a 7 month anniversary. All in all, its an excellent machine, but I can always find a few complaints. #1. I feel the control panel is a bit hard to read. It would have been better to have the entire panel be lit. But this is more of a "me" problem because our wash room does not have proper lighting. I got a lightweight LED light and placed it on the corner when the detergent dispenser is, problem solved. (-2 points, score 98 out of 100) #2. Build quality. Sometimes the dispenser tray makes a slight ticking noise on the spin cycle. If I put my hand on that corner above the tray, the sound goes away. There probably should have been a 2mm piece of soft rubber on that corner. The pedestal just "feels" cheaply made to me. (-3 points, score 95 out of 100) #3. Vibration. Initially, I had a moderate problem. I've solved 95% of it with 3/8inch thick neoprene pads under the front legs and a leveling tool I have mounted dead center over the cycle selector. I check the level every Saturday just before I start my wash, which is always on Saturday. I'm probably asking too much asking for NO vibration, while spinning 12 pounds of wet clothes, at 700rpm, while being mounted on a pedestal, on a floor which has a vinyl type tile, with 20 year old wood supporting those tiles. This is mostly a "me" problem. (-1 point, score 94 out of 100) #4. Rinsing. OK, so I have learned that apparently, using Turbowash, decreases wash time by doing a ("mini rinse") only the spray nozzles are used, which cuts 10 minutes off the wash time. I have also observed that if I set the soil level to "Heavy", the machine seems to spend more time rinsing than actually washing. This is actually my biggest peeve about this machine. (-4 points. score 90 out of 100) #5. Noise. Originally in February, the solenoid valves opening and closing when it draws in water were so LOUD that I thought something was wrong with the machine. Now, in October, they are so much quieter that I wonder if something is wrong with the machine! The machine is now about as quiet as I can expect a mechanical device to be. (-1 point. score 89 out of 100) #6. Dispenser Tray. I wish the dispenser tray would pull out about another inch or so. It's hard to fil the "Pre-Wash" slot or the "Bleach" slot with spilling a little bit because they tray doesn't pull out for enough. (-2 points, score 87 out of 100) #7. ThinQ. There is a firmware interaction with some routers which causes the ThinQ to not recognize the machine over time. Getting a new router fixed the problem. Some reports say its a bug in the firmware which causes a buffer overrun over time! If you don't use your home internet a lot, you may never see the problem. If you are an internet junkie who streams everything, like me, you probably see it in about 3 months, like me! Also, if you want to run ThinQ from your Windows desktop, you have to install "BlueStacks" emulator. Come on LG make a real Windows version of the app! (-4 points, score 83 out of 100) #8. Filter Cleaning. Come on LG you couldn't have raised the filter another 2 inches higher and given us a little pull out tray to catch the water when we unscrew the filter? True, its only like three ounces or so, but still! (-1 point, score 82 out of 100). For me, the WM4000 gets an overall score of 82 out of 100. I'm a very nit picky person, so an 82 for me is probably a 92 for most people. My washer looks exactly like yours, SPOTLESS! Other notes. I do the full wipe down of the door and gasket at the end of the last wash on the day. But, I also come back right before I go to bed and wipe it down again, and I rub my finger through the inner lips of the seal to make sure its dry in there. I do my Tub Clean every 15 loads. I drain the pump and clean the filter every 50 loads. I know the manual says to do it every 30 days. but washing machine repairmen seem to think anywhere between 3 months and 6 months is fine. I always run low spin. I read somewhere that one of the causes of spider arm failure is consistent use of high spin. I use "Tide Hygienic Clean Heavy 10X Duty Laundry Detergent Liquid Soap, Original Scent". 30ml is the absolute max I ever use in the main tray. I will go as low as 15ml on small loads with light material (like bras and panties). 95% of the time I use "Permanent Press" cycle, "Cold Wash" and "Turbowash" options. If I feel the clothes are really dirty, I add 15ml to the PreWash dispenser (along with 30ml for the Main Wash tray) and run a "PreWash" option. Oh, and if anyone is considering buying this machine and you live in California, you may get up to a $500 rebate from your local water and power provider for buying a water efficient machine. socalwatersmart.com/en/residential/
Water pressure is exactly 80. I doubt the noise is water hammer. I installed "Sioux Chief" water hammer suppressors on the bibs before the machine was even installed! Besides, its clear to me that the noise does not come from the pipes, but rather internally within the machine itself. I have two levels attached to the machine. One on the front where the controls are to check the east-west level and another on the side to check the north-south level. The level IS slightly off (east-west), but still within the levelling marks. It's about 1/16 of an inch off, it not enough for me to think its really the issue. I think the issue is more likely that its on a pedestal and the pedestal itself seems a bit flimsy. The spider arm scam. You think it's going to last 8-10 years. From MY understanding, 6 years is more reasonable. But, unlike most people, I never overload the machine. The machine is rated for 15 lbs of dry clothing, MAX. I never put in more than 10lbs, and I DO have a postal scale that I weigh the clothes on before I load them into the machine. Ah, I did NOT know Windows 11 has an Android native mode!!! Thanks for the tip! Yeah, you're tight, I probably could have requested a firmware upgrade, but Spectrum offered to send me a new one for free, so why not?!!@@hopperbopper
Honestly I think not having a drum light is a good thing. We leave our washer open so it doesn't allow mold growth and it seems to keep the washer smelling better. If you had the light, wouldn't it stay on if the door was left open?
I like the Board you made to cover the washer and Dryer. What materials did you use and what paint brand and color. You did a beautiful job on the Laundry Room.
Thank you very much. We're really happy with how it all turned out. I actually purchased a piece of wood counter that's prepackaged in plastic at lowes. I had them cut it down to the size I needed. I then purchased valspar paint in color "weather vein". Before painting I sanded the wood down to a smooth finish and put around 3 coats on. I also put flat rubber anti skid pads on the bottom to hold in place and to keep the washer and dryer tops from getting scratched by the bottom of the counter top. It also holds it in place when the washer is on spin. Tho this unit doesn't have much vibration, it still keeps everything Still. Best of luck and thanks for watching!
@@trueblue6070 Thank you for responding, I appreciate your detailed response on your exceptional addition. It creates a beautiful finish. Enjoy your lovely new laundry room.
How does the washer hold up using the pods? Our LG (purchased in 2018) hated the pods. It was a front loader and it just got too soapy and wouldnt drain right and there were tons of suds in the drum. I was using the tide pods from sams and they were huge so maybe that's why? The washer actually broke completely today so we ordered the set you have in the video! I want to switch back to the pods but won't want to ruin the new machine.
Thank you very much for your videos, very helpful. I am noticing that the washing machine does not happen to have the same 'freshcare' button to keep the clothes flipping if you are away from the washer for hours so they don't get all wrinkled in damp heap on the bottom of the drum. I see the dryer still has fresh care to keep the clothes tossing around. Any ideas what to do about the washer or a moot point?
These are very quite machines. Ofcourse they have some normal noise from the water spraying and the clothes moving in the drums but other than that very quite esp on the spin cycle. For a machine that spins at 1300 rpm, it's extremely quite. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
I got this machine in February and it was actually kind of loud, especially the opening and closing of the solenoid valve. I have noticed its a lot quieter lately! Maybe there is a two or thee month break in period, but its really overall a lot quieter than when I first got it.
Just bought this and the dryer seems to have lint that leaks around the door and moist that leaks from the door.. the door doesn’t seem to fully close. Is that normal?
Can you wash just a couple items on this or must you have a load? Sometimes my granddaughter wants to just watch like 2 outfits. Considering this machine( going from top load to front load), but saw somewhere that you can’t just wash a couple items
thanks for your review! looking at replacing our old LGs and I'm curious about the touch panels vs a mechanical buttons. How are yours holding up? Do they respond well? I love the black graphite too!
Just bought this setup... how do you cancel and drain a cycle? Delivery guy started a cycle to test then left. I didn't want it running for an hour, but couldn't find that option to stop and drain water.
Congrats on your new purchase! To reset your cycle. Turn unit off, Unplug or turn off your unit at breaker box for 10 secs, hold the play/pause button for 5 secs. Plug unit back in or switch breaker back on, turn unit back on. Thanks for watching!
@@trueblue6070 Alrighty, lol. I was hoping for something easier, like on a dishwasher... press a button for a few seconds. Thanks for your feedback though!! :)
I was just saying we prefer using pods over liquid detergent. Either is fine to use with the washer as long as you don't use more than a half a cap full. Thanks for watching!
How’s it doing? I just bought one and wondered if you hit any problems since you made this video. Have you washed anything large like a comforter. If so how does it handle it.
It's still going strong as far as washing and drying. Only issue I'm having is the wifi icon on the washer seems to not wanna light up randomly and when this occurs. I don't recieve notifications from the thin Q app even tho both washer and dryer are successfully connected to my home wifi and I can still monitor all cycles regardless if icon is lite or not. Very strange. Been in touch with LG several times but they don't seem to have a fix for this yet?
@washingandmowing15 yes I have read a couple of threads on the internet about others having the same issue as well. im supposed to have a tech come to my home next week but from what i've read from others experiences with this issue, It doesn't seem to fix bcs the tech only wants to replace the wifi circuit board but I feel this is ultimately a malware issue that LG doesn't have a fix for at this time. I know the unit is successfully connected to my home wifi however if the wifi icon is not lite, there Is no notifications from the thin q app. This is extremely strange. But like you, my dryer wifi functions run seamlessly. If you happen to find out any information on this, please let me know
I purchased a piece of packaged unfinished wood counter from lowes and had it cut to my specifications to fit the tops of my washer and dryer. Sanded it until smooth and painted it with valspar brand paint called weather vane also from lowes. I also purchased square skid resistance pads for the bottom to prevent any scratching from the rough bottom of the counter top and to also keep it from moving while on spin cycle. Which fortunately this unit has very little vibrations while on spin
I feel that pods are better for the machine because they only disperse the proper amount of soap. Extra soap not used during the cycle will collect inside the drum and over time will result in a smelly drum. I use 1 pod for a small to medium load and 2 pods for a large load.
I got this machine in February and I started out with pods. I have now switched to liquid detergent. Pods are very convenient, but they are also very wasteful. When I first got the machine, I just couldn't resist the temptation to put in more than 30ml (2 Tablespoons) of detergent. Over time I have learned that I can get clean clothes by using 15ml (THAT'S ONE TABLESPOON) of detergent. (That's with the machine filled about 1/3 of capacity.) I'm using "Tide Hygienic Clean Heavy 10X Duty Laundry Detergent Liquid Soap".
@wildhorses6817 I use a soft microfiber cloth to wipe out the inside door glass and drum seal after each load. I also use a Affresh tablet every 15 cycles on the tub clean cycle. I wash out the detergent dispenser with hot water and dry. And Lastly, I drain the pump water and clean the filter with dawn dishsoap and scrub with a soft bristle tooth brush in the sink, rinse and dry. I do all these things every 15 cycles. Lg says 30. But I do this every 15. Doesn't hurt and only keeps the drum smelling new.

All star review thank you! Does 4.5 fit bulky items? Like queen mattress pad or 2 pillows?
Thank you! Yes the 4.5 handle bulky items and queen bedding like a champ. No issues these sizes or king size bedding. Thanks for watching
Thank you, seriously helpful. Keep the reviews and updates coming. Love your laundry set up and maintenance tips. @@trueblue6070
Drain out the pump and clean the filter, is this simple to do
Just bought this and the dryer seems to have lint that leaks around the door and moist that leaks from the door.. the door doesn’t seem to fully close.
Consumer Reports best recommends LG WM3400CW, WM5500HWA, LG WM4500HBA.
This is not a "consumer report". this is a personal customer review. But thanks for watching
@True Blue can you plz do video of cleaning & pump drain & filter please?
Sure will! Thanks for watching
@roberthedrick7805 lol yeah I understand completely. But it honestly doesn't take long. Unfortunately that's the only way to reset your unit
All you have to do is pause, hold the spin button and set it to No Spin.
Just press and hold the power button or hold the pause button to reset.
What happens if you put it on the downloads will it do a wash or do nothing
Great video!!!!
Thanks for watching!
cant hear what you said about the 2 complaints pod you cant use liquid soap?
I was just saying we prefer using pods over liquid detergent. Either is fine to use with the washer as long as you don't use more than a half a cap full. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the review.
Much appreciated and Thanks for watching!
@@trueblue6070 thanks for the update, I’m fine without using those features.
@@JarrettMercer yes this set does an amazing job even without the smart features. It washes and drys beautifully.
@@trueblue6070 I have the same exact issue. it’s only the washer for me. don’t know what it is, but it’s very interesting.
If you happen to find out any information on this, please let me know
How did you make the top / what did you use?
I purchased a piece of packaged unfinished wood counter from lowes and had it cut to my specifications to fit the tops of my washer and dryer. Sanded it until smooth and painted it with valspar brand paint called weather vane also from lowes. I also purchased square skid resistance pads for the bottom to prevent any scratching from the rough bottom of the counter top and to also keep it from moving while on spin cycle. Which fortunately this unit has very little vibrations while on spin
@@trueblue6070 Thank you! It looks AMAZING!
@tiffaneydionescharmer5239 your very welcome and thank you!😊
Love ours ❤
Hello, do you mind sharing the model number of your dryer ?
Sure will, model DLEX4000B
Do you use the app with it?
Yes I do. Very convenient. I Also have mine connected to alexa and she will announce when the washer, dryer or dishwasher is complete.
So is it better to use pods or liquid soap
I feel that pods are better for the machine because they only disperse the proper amount of soap. Extra soap not used during the cycle will collect inside the drum and over time will result in a smelly drum. I use 1 pod for a small to medium load and 2 pods for a large load.
@@trueblue6070 thanks my guy appreciate that
@169Aquarius no problem and your very welcome!
(That's with the machine filled about 1/3 of capacity.) I'm using "Tide Hygienic Clean Heavy 10X Duty Laundry Detergent Liquid Soap".
give em a chance trust
Where is the “R” in the word warsh?
You know?
I took a shot every time you aid that and I went through a whole fifth
Sounds like you have zero interest in this washer and dryer so why watch the video??
Hows it smell tho?
Still smells new inside the drum. But that's with regular maintenance. Mainly not allowing the gasket to sit wet after washes.
@@trueblue6070Do you wipe it dry with a Cloth or use another method ? Thank you.
Doesn't hurt and only keeps the drum smelling new.
the only 2 features we dont get are what? speak up bruh
