First vlog of 2019 and I'm kicking it off with a long one! Bouldering and pulling power with my sister. I have been sick most of Christmas and New Years so I'm extra excited to climb again!

This is a little bit mean, she one of the most beautiful woman i have seen. But yes her strength is intimidating she is stronger than me and i am not below man average. She is exceptional. It would be nice to know she does a little bit of knitting or sewing flower decors. 😋

I really like the contrast between your styles, Magnus uses his power explosively and Hannah seems smoother. I think Hannah is more economical with her energy almost like she is calming the boulder, whereas Magnus sort of beats it into submission. Love it when you two climb together.
She makes her climbing look effortless. A treat to watch.

I love the way magnus climbs. I'm a relatively new climber (1 year or so), and my strength really helps me climb better than I really am, but I've felt discouraged to kinda just push through movements because it's not very aesthetic. So to watch a pro like Magnus 'ugly climb' is very encouraging.

Hannah's style is so smooth and measured. She makes the climbs look nearly effortless.
the training/practice at the end would be REALLY cool to see a human and a monkey try it at the same time to see who could reach the farthest

Holy fuck I didn't think it was possibly to be smoother than Magnus in climbing but his sister is honestly much more smooth and makes it look so damn easy.

I like the way Hannah climbs, it’s kind of gentle, graceful and strong at the same time. Magnus has such lovely swing, momentum and grip.

@@WakeSideLifeThe viking era didn't last that long (only 300 years), and it's debated how common "going on viking" was. I doubt beautiful thralls make up much of the ancestors of Scandinavians. As a Norwegian, thanks for the compliment, though :)
Edit: Actually, I just found a source claiming 1/3 of Norwegians were thralls at the end of the viking era, so maybe you are right. In that case, if you see a beautiful Norwegian, perhaps odds are (s)he's really of English ancestry :P
I'm too a physiotherapist! cool to know Hannah is too. Magnus to answer your question about why a pull up with added 70kg is harder than 1 arm pull ups with only your body weight, the muscles required to do a 2 hand pull up is different to a 1 arm pull up. When you do a 1 arm pull up you require very strong scapular stabilising muscles, most people actually have the power in the rotator cuffs and latissimus to do a 1 arm pull but not the strength to stabilise their scapular. Now doing a pull up with additional 70kg would require significantly more pulling power, also the weight hangs off your hips which also limits your ability to bring up your hips up during pulling, this makes pull ups much harder because you are more upright. For example pull ups when your bring your chin over the bar is easier than the bar being behind your head.

In one Arm pull Up you get help a lot from your forearm muscle and bicep muscle. In regular pull Up due to fixed arm Position way more less Help from forearm. The Initial kip in the dead hang from the one Arm pull Up Take away 1/3 from your Body weight and decrease to Zero until forehead reach the bar. In the weighted pull up(2xbodyweight) its hard to kip such much weight, but its possible to train to kip much weight on your hip without the Look of cross fit Kipling.
Yay! Maybe you can help me with my problem: my right should hurts when I do pull-ups or pushups. It hurts at the bump where the collar bone connects to the shoulder.
What do I do to fix this issue so I can continue to exercise???

I really enjoyed this. I hope you have your sister back often. Once a year is too infrequent. I see now that quiet confidence and determination is a Midtbo family trait.
The entire video, one word comes to mind. Humble. Both of you seem genuinely humble. I’ll be in the woods later setting safety lines for my hobby and will be remembering your calm humble voices as I go about my day.

sorry just watched that part of the vid. i think it has to do a bit with minor momentum on the one arm pullup, and body positioning being more favorable
Thats one of the things I dont like about him. He tries soooo hard to look strong and attractive. Most of his videos are 50% climbing and 50% flexing. We get it, you are in great shape and good at what you are doing.

There is many plans of the landscape and it reminds me so much my Erasmus, I went to Norway between august and december 2017 mainly for your gym I admit x) and it was such a great experience full of landscape like that and I saw you climbing ( it is a bit intimidating x) )

I got a job offer in Norway ! and your gym was the first thing to come to my mind!
Just an FYI though, Norway has so many amazing natural places to climb that gym climbing only makes sense in winter. I stayed on a friend's farm last year which was about 5 minutes away from the Trollveggen and you could probably spend your entire life there and still not climb all the awesome stuff they have there.

24:11 one arm pullup (OAP) allows you to activate some additional muscles groups that are inaccessible during 2AP, specifically upper chest (pec minor). in OAP you are free to rotate around the pulling arm, so pec minor becomes heavily involved to help pull the opposite shoulder towards the pulling arm. in 2AP there is no possibility for this motion so instead most the work pulling up is isolated to the wings (lat dorsi) and shoulders (post deltoids) with almost no help from pecs. TLDR, one arm pullup capability is more than half of your two arm capability because of additional degree of freedom in OAP allowing at least one additional major muscle group to assist the pull.

She is so technical and relies a lot on finding her balance to attempt the next move, really interesting style, also how she uses the wall without touching any colors. You on the other hand deplete your energy faster by putting all the pressure on contact points or generating inverse pressure with your muscles, one thing you do that is very energy consuming but looks cool is floating your legs to positioning relying completely on your core area

I've bien watching you for a while now, and I raelly appreciate your content. I like the edit, it is simple but quite satisfying. I also enjoy hearing the honnest person that you are and I find interresting to listen some of the tips you give about climbing. I'm à climber myself since a bit more than a year and I'm not verry talented at it but it's à pleasure to what some of the bests climbers can do in some of the bests gyms.
