awesome guys... Such a long way aye... We totally get the covid issues at the border and the jet lag... Hope your having a great time... 3,000 miles across Europe sounds awesome!
I think your 3 flights were way worse, especially with long layovers. We were on the same flight out of Auckland as you guys, just 3 days later! We are still de-jetlagging, but looking forward to our cycle trip :)
Great video, we are flying this route next week. Originally was meant to be going via Hong Kong but this was canceled and now air nz have booked us on this route. I'm very anxious as we are traveling with a baby and the 2 hour layover is concerning as to whether we make the next flight, also didn't realize you had to recheck baggage.
You don't have to recheck your bags, just pick them up and drop them at the transfer desk. I probably worded that wrong on the video (jetlag does that). When we flew, they had another flight 2 hours later, so even if you miss the connection, you should be fine. We came back in September, and had a really good run through customs, and everyone made the connecting flight. Hopefully you guys will be fine.
Another thing to check when you check-in at Auckland, is that you have a seat number on your boarding card for the second leg. We didn't have seat numbers on ours, and weren't told we'd need to get our seats allocated at the gate at LAX. It was just by chance I noticed it, and queried it at the gate.
Pretty looking forward to be travelling overseas for the first time still haven’t decided weather to go to Europe first or the states 💜💙💛💚 happy travels
So well put together Jo and you are very brazen with filming in public (look at the people looking at you), I’d be too conscious. I dislike air travel and need my wife or I’m stuffed, I got stranded in Kathmandu once for two days when I did a solo hiking adventure 😱. I get stressed with all the admin and deadlines so like me it seems mike is a very fortunate person to have such an organised wife like you. ✈️ 💯
We are both normally disorganised, but we work well together. If one of us gets stressed, the other takes over. I usually come up with the ideas and Mike makes them happen! Getting stranded in Kathmandu must have been terrifying, I wouldn't have liked that. I get self-conscious filming in public too, and try and do it when there's not too many people around. If people stare, I'd probably put the camera away.
It's actually not as bad as it sounds. What other occasions do you have an excuse to do nothing other than eating, sleeping, and watching movies for that period of time?
@@TheWayneReport that’s true, and it’s a lot harder to sleep on the plane now we’ve given up drinking. I used to have a couple of glasses of wine and pass out!
Hi! I'm doing this route shortly and I'm pretty nervous about LAX. Were there staff around to help? I'm not sure if I need to collect my baggage or not as its all on one ticket... Next time I'm going via Singapore haha
You do have to collect your luggage and check it through again. We took carry on luggage only, so thankfully it was easier for us. I've always found the staff at LAX really friendly and helpful and there should be someone to ask. There'll be plenty of people doing the same thing as you, so don't worry.
I loved it 🤗💕 Thank you for your video 🌷
Thank you for watching :)
Great viewing, I loved the family arriving home, such a happy thing after three years
Thanks Mary, it was certainly good to see them.

We love the States and Europe. Might be heading to the States on our way back if we get time. Have a great trip wherever you decide to go :)

Ugh! 22 hours on a plane. Yuk! I think I’d go insane!

@@NomadLifeKiwi it’s the sleeping part that’s hard. Zzz…
