DON'T Buy a 340i, Buy This Instead...

- I love the B58, and I cannot lie there and the engine itself is near perfect. But you are buying a car not an engine and this video is why you should spend that little bit more and buy a real M-Car over a ‘M-Lite’ car. Trust me if I had the money I would make the M4 a track car and buy a 340i for drag racing, but we aren't at that stage yet ;(

Who said one needs a sports car for everyday use? Not everyone needs a car for a racetrack. 40i cars are a perfect blend of comfort and very good performance. Your arguments make sense if someone buys 40i with the intention of tuning it heavily. M4 will be more expensive to run, while being less comfortable.
whats less comfortable? F80/82 are pretty comfortable stock.
bro is def tired of hearing that b58 is "faster" 😭
Me to
lmao facts. the m240i g42 is the fastest bmw though. but not around a track
B58 is hands down the best daily weekend track cars. Not knocking the actual M cars they are great but sacrifice some of that daily aspect.
I have an M240i daily and ordered the facelifted M2 for weekends.
Beautiful choice
Baller
B58>S55
S58>B58
Valid opinion
i disagree. its more like s58 > s55=b58
Tell people all the time who try to make fun of my e92 m3 have fun going fast in a straight but when we see roundabouts and go to the track it’s her turn to eat
I agree with you completely and I have a 340I. An M car is always gonna be a better car than a non M-car. You have all facets that you would want.
You can atage 2 with m3 and it will gap b58 stage 2
s55 came out in 2014*
for power and all what about m140i tho they're like 38k and even with suspension mods and everything will still be about 20k cheaper than an m4
I hope he knows that the g42 m240 with a $500 JB4 and H&R lowering springs is more than adequate to put that M4 to shame. I hope he is aware that the m240 can be optioned with additional cooling for track use, bigger brakes, and has an ELSD and adaptive suspension from factory. This is some serious coping going on here in this video. M cars are great but you can’t compare a 15 year old car to modern car in terms of performance.
Actually, you don't buy either of those 2. G80 way better than those. S58 or bust. Lol
I totally agree but it’s over double a price of a f80
💯
@@PerformanceNic the m340i xdrive loaded has gotten so expensive that its only a few K less than a base g80 rwd. so if I were buying a new car its either get the m240i to save money or go for g80. but im buying used so a used m340i is the best deal for me
The problem is many have to live with a car daily and an m4 isn’t a great daily
Stage 2 requires DP only. HPFP upgrade is stage2+ (more than likely going ethanol) and you absolutely do not need an aftermarket air intake for power(in most cases it's equal or even less power)..... in fact the stock box is good for 800hp with no signs of restrictions till you go over this. I bought a VRSF high flow DP for mine for $850 and installed it myself in just over an hour (it's soo easy i couldn't believe it haha) and BM3 license with tune pack cost me $800. Just shy of $1700AUD and it's a missile. I looked heavily in to an F80 M3(drool) and that crank hub fix cost had me terrified.... The mod bug would've gotten me and i would've had DP's and stage 2 and at that point you pretty much need to go the crank hub fix haha
I Don't understand why the 335i n54 gets so much hate.. I've owned my E93 335i for 11 years now very reliable.. milage 79,000 only mods blow off valve
Charge pipe and bmw led performance steering wheel.. on repair spent £1700 over 11 years you do the maths.. would never sell it.. Gonna buy a lamborghini gallardo lp soon that's all she wrote 😊
I had an M4 and then i upgraded it to an M6. My other car is an M140i. I prefer the M140i over them both
Wow that’s surprising, why do you say that?
thats weird. i would understand over the m6 bc smaller cars are much easier to drive than boats. but the m4 is perfect
Just came across your channel, I'm your 614th subscriber on July 25, 2024, 11:12AM CDT.
Thank you!
solid video and i totally understand your viewpoint, but i personally want a 340 sleeper looking ass sedan with 500hp under the bonnet
Perfect sleeper cars once you de-badge
If I was choosing an M car it would be the M2. Each to their own of course, but for mine the M3/4 has been suffering from middle age spread since the E92.
That argument hold true to older 4 series but the 240 is on the same platform now and doesn't have the beaver tooth front end.
A good driver in a m4 is still getting smoked by a great driver in a e36 so save the money and repair cost on a b58 if you want to daily the car
But a great driver in a M4 is smoking the E36 and B58 😉
@@PerformanceNicnot necessarily, most people are driving automatic/DCT and honestly who is smoking who is wallet depending on what you mods you are putting into your car. The real question is who is beating who at the track and I’m not talking about a drag car. Turning, handling and chassis feel is what bmw M cars have always been known for. I have a 2018 bmw m2 with n55b(30to) making 620whp and e50 with bolt ons pure 750 turbo and hpfp/lpfp. Stock for the the m2c and m2 are very similar in speed. The 40hp more doesn’t make a huge difference. I’ve driven both love both but I would only get an s55 I did a top mount single turbo because the s55 just doesn’t sound pleasant. I also owned an f80 m3. Until my crank hub went out at 17k miles on a stock engine. It was replaced under warranty but it’s also something to think about. And then there’s the s58 which is an absolute beast. The only s55 I’d personally get and leave mostly stock would be the m2cs. Oh and most people don’t know the difference between the f series in any form unless you are an enthusiast.
440i vs M4:
B58>S55
8HP
I am going to stick with my b58tu in my 2020 m340i. With all my mods on stock turbo and stock hpfp I'm making 475whp.
Hmm. 460hp on stock turbo with only replacement of IC and chip tune is done by 2.0 tfsi +2020. Three litres aren't needed for that
2020 m340i is the best cus you dont have to ship the DME to finland for unlock. getting one soon. I do prefer the front end look of the LCI models but the rear of the Pre-LCI is much better and looks similar to the g80. and I cant afford an LCI anyway. So just gonna get Pre-LCI and switch headlights
F82 is one of the most good looking car ever made... ai had such a big hopes for g82... yet g82 looks so like your regular g generation 4 series... no wide arches.... have to switch from f82 to 3 years old f92m8 instead of g82... just because of the looks lone. g80 m3 look good but i hate 4 door cars. i coupes for the win
If you’re buying a car for its feel, the way it drives and passion, buy an Alfa Romeo Giulia Q
Horrible take. With your logic everyone may as well buy an M4 GT3. Oh wait, it's almost like cost and daily drivability is a concern for most people.
Sorry to hear that we can’t agree, but with that argument you might as well say buy an old S class for cheap and comfort?
They are similar prices with the M4 being on average $10,000 more and in this video explaining why it’s worth it saving that little bit more.
It’s not like I’m comparing base 420i to a M4 GTS but instead the two main performance options which people face when buying a sports BMW… either a 40i or M car
@@PerformanceNic old S class isn’t very reliable
Nic…What can I say mate? U r spitting facts.
I wish u the very best of luck with the new channel, good on you for having a red hot go.
Sub!!
Edit: Roll racing is for people with no driving skills and no imagination 🤣🤣🤣…. Long live beautiful twisty mountain roads.
Really appreciate the message and support!!
If it costs more it should be a better car.
My point is this is kind of a silly comparison.
If you are absolutely reckless and want to drive on the streets like you're on the track......
listen to this bloke
😂
If a M car isn’t made to be used as a real sports car, then what’s the purpose of it?
I drive my car like I'm on the track, always waiting for someone to play
@@PerformanceNic I assume some chiropractor invested in BMW.
There are undoubtedly a small number of places in the world where road surface quality and traffic conditions allow for modern M cars to be driven in a way that justifies the cost. Certainly none of those places exist anywhere on the 7.7 million kilometre square Island I live on, and judging by the number of videos of people crashing them on straight roads, I'd say there aren't many places suitable in the US either.
You think being reckless on the road is having fun, go do that.
I'll drive safely on the road and have fun when the conditions are suitable.
great vid
@@OfficialLegend thank you sir 🫡
So what you are saying is, if you are buying a car just for track use buy a mcar, if you want a car for everything else buy a b58
Kind of but also kind of not.
M cars will always be more fun to drive and gives you a real sports car feel, whereas if you want a comfortable daily that can also be fun at times then a 40i (not close to m4 fun) is a great choice
@@PerformanceNic well I have the best of both, a stage 2 a45 facelift 😄
mk5 supra >
Awesome cars no doubt
s55 Made 600whp on e85 lol single turbo guys pushing 750whp.
man is sick
where did you get those prices from lol

Your 325i was the e46?
What you think of the e92 335i?
@@christopherriley1187 I never had a e46, I’ve only owned a e93, e91, e90 and f80. The e93 335i I had was an awesome car but the only downside was the reliability, would have an issue every month, I go more in depth in my video rating every car I’ve owned.
@@PerformanceNic so what was your 325? Cool thank you. I have a couple of e46’s but I want an e92 335. I think it’s the prettiest by miles. The e93 lines aren’t as nice 👌
@@christopherriley1187 I totally agree that e92 is arguably one of the best BMW shapes ever. My e90 was a 320i and my e91 was a 323i
@@PerformanceNic ngl when it comes to 3 series I think the e30 & e46 are massively stand out beautiful. But I want something faster than my 330ci which the e92 335i is quite a bit quicker
