- Fusion 360 already comes with best-in-class CAM capabilities. With the Fusion 360 Machining Extension, however, you can take things to the next level. There are many reasons to consider the Fusion 360 Machining Extension, but 4th Axis Rotary alone is a great reason to upgrade.
Your 4th axis indexer or rotary can do so much more than positional indexing and wrapped 2D toolpaths. With the Fusion 360 Machining Extension, you can use your 4th axis to its full potential, allowing you to manufacture non-cylindrical parts with ease. There are several rotary strategies available such as Spiral, Line, and Circular rotary, allowing you to choose the best tool paths for your part.
In this 15 minute webinar, you’ll learn more about how 4th Axis Rotary Toolpaths will improve your programming time, your machining time, and your surface finish. You’ll also learn the best way to test out Rotary features to see if upgrading to the Fusion 360 Machining Extension is right for you. If you’re interested in increasing your efficiency and part quality, this webinar is for you.

i've never understood how the machining extension is 3-4 times the cost of the base subscription considering how much you get with the base subscription
I think that the intent is to give people a usable product that will do CAD and CAM and at very reasonable price, but then to enable more advanced functionality to be acquired like toolpath trimming or the drill hole recognition. I balked at the initial additional Manufacturing extension cost, but for me given the commercial jobs we do it paid for itself in a couple of days... But everyones needs are different and may not represent same value to say a hobbyist.
Dear Fusion 360 team,
I am very disappointed! a few months ago i took out a subscription for 3 years in order to use exactly these functions as a hobbyist (not professional). and now you need a machine extension for extra money!
This is a real rip off!
Next, do you have to pay for extrusion?
What's wrong with you guys?
:-(
How do you get the rotary to rotate in simulate
Guys this software is great.
It solves a lot of issues many people struggle with daily.
I have 1 major displeasure with this though. My biggest issue with this is the fact that this machining extension cannot be integrated in autodesk inventor. ITAR requirements are met with inventor, and not fusion 360. It would be largely beneficial for autodesk as well with more sales.
Please. Make this amazing product available in inventor. It will give you a bigger market share. Heck, charge a little more for it then you do in fusion. I’ll pay for it!
Are you really wanting this extension for Inventor OR are you really wanting Fusion 360 to be ITAR compliant?
Great software, But expensive. At $1,600 PER YEAR just for the machining extension on top of the yearly subscription for the core program. The average user is excluded from using it.
Is this "average user" a professional machinist / machine shop OR are you considering the "average user" a hobbyist using an X-Carve in a garage?
@Jason L im referring mainly to the hobbyist and small job shops. You just gotta do the math and see if it works for you. If it is, Great.
Thank you for bringing up point distribution but there was no explanation as to how to get the uniformed point distribution. Can you provide any more details?
Can you please make a broaching process .? It would be nice to do CNC mill and lathe broaching.
I’ve actually used this tool path to rough parts. I take the necessary radial step over take the full flute depth of cut.
Excellent video
hi Fusion team, if i upgraded my personal license to subscription version, can i still use all my saved files or all files that created in personal licenses can't be opened in subscription license anymore?
YES. Your files will be there waiting for you to use in your new commercial subscription.
I used rotary just the other day on my UMC750. It’s pretty jerky even after playing with smoothing
I also use it on a UMC, check your rotary axis, that you have high speed machining enabled in the HAAS control and that the feed rate of the tool isn't slowing down your rotary movements (they are connected). I have found with the correct axis its smooth, but not the most time efficient tool path
Fusion 360 does not have a Mitsubishi 4axis post processor available on its website.
Autodesk does its best to provide free posts for as many machines as possible. IF/WHEN a post is not available for free on the website, you can still create the post yourself (for free) by modifying an existing post. Alternatively, you can hire an Autodesk reseller to create the post for you (for a fee).
The 4th was the reason i left!
Is 4th axis rotary Rough available?
JC, not YET.
This yearly subscription model is the invention of the devil. This should be banned.
I bought a software, version X.1, if X.2 is not worth it to me, Why should I pay for it to get its useless features to continue using X.1 ? You made a good software you got paid for it once. Why should I continue to keep paying ?
Complete rip off.
