I have followed his career since I was young, LOL And since he was young. Not enough positive words can express the amazing talent this guy has been gifted with.
I am in tears. I love Jimmy Smith, the King of the Hammond B . Organ. Joey Defrancesco was supposed to go on tour with Jimmy in 2005, unfortunately, after losing his wife months earlier, Jimmy passed away, Joey and Jimmy never made that tour. Joey is carrying the mantle for one of the most spiritual instruments on the planet. I hope to see him play live, as I was trying to procure tickets for the tour he and the Master Jimmy Smith were to undertake together. I just sent this to my nephew...
Those bass lines are perfectly groovy, funny, much more high above sadness and and anger, and let us come in this joyful singing welcoming world of Music with all these subtle and smart chords that play with us and surprise us because they do not arrive exactly when and where they were expected... Nice funny version, cover of my favorite song ever ONE HUNDRED WAYS
I first heard Joey D. on a jazz radio station in the SF Bay Area (KCSM); playing his rendition of "Work Song", from his 'Live at the 5 Spot' album; back in what I believe was 1992 or 93. Since then, I've had nothing but great admiration and respect for this gentleman.
Joey just gets better year after year. I remember reading about him way back in the day in Keyboard Magazine when he was an up and coming skinny kid, we had no internet back then so it wasn't until years latter I actually heard him .. and he was killer .. even back then.
Caught myself looking at my computer screen sideways trying to see what drawbar settings Joey is using...LMBO!!! I love how Joey is using some very practical and standardized settings to show what his signature Viscount can do sonically.
Bruh, you might be stretching that just a tad there my friend! Don't forget there was Jimmy Smith, Charles Earland, Jimmy McGriff, Groove Holmes and Jack McDuff, all of which I got a chance to play except for Groove Holmes! Not to mention the females organists, Shirley Scott and Barbara Dennerlein and a whole host of beasts!! Taking absolutely nothing away from Joey DeFrancesco, whom I've had the pleasure to meet and hear him play live, he is such a beast in his own right and may be the best living today, but the best who ever lived on this earth, c'mon bro, back it up a little bit bruh!! LOL I feel you though!!!
Absolutely Joey no question but the greats innovated and changed the game......can I respectfully put forward the one and only a Brian Auger......who introduced a new more modern approach the the Hammond blending beautifully jazz, rock, soul and funk! Herbie Hancock called him the greatest Hammond player alive and he has been so productive since the early 60s. There is room on this earth for all these greats however, and Joey is most certainly one of them.
Who would have the audacity to thumbs down this? Let's hear you play with one hundredth of the spirit and sheer mastery of the instrument! People are capable of the heights of brilliance and the depths of idiocy.
Credo esse cara é fenomenal, nem vou me arriscar postar em inglês. Maravilhoso e assustador tamanha habilidade e coordenação motora manifestada em musica boa.
FINALLY!!!!! A TRUE PERFORMER WHO COMES AND PLAYS AS ONE SHOULD! NO TALKING, NO EXPLAINING HOW MANY FARTS PER BAR AND SIMPLY PURE BLISS!!! AND BY THE WAY, NO FUCKING MILLENNIAL STUPID MUSIC!!! 100 HUNDRED WAY IS A CLASSIC LIKE SO MANY SONGS FROM THE PAST BUT UNSURPASSED BY ANY OF TODAY'S "ARTISTS".
To dear music friends. That's excellent. Very great! Music has the power to move people's heart freely. Music has no borders. I am playing my organ in my own way as a hobby. I wish you happiness and health from Japan. Along with music! From YOSHIKI
It must be more than just nice if you can display some musical genius during an afternoon showcase. Joey still looks like he can move his organ all by himself. That's even better.
To those that complain about the drummer, he's doing a really good job, and Joey's diggn' it! He's totally following Joey's lead! Pretty cool stuff! That's what I call Jamming!
I just got my Keyb, not the black signed version by Joey,D (sorry:) but the wooden version, the Legend, but i have a thousand steps to climb to get even near this gigante! Greetings, Levi in Sweden
No surely not a B3, but honestly .. as long as you have one or a a couple 122 leslies or even a modern 3300, Any of the 4 biggest clones will do (Hammonds own XK-5 being one, Crumar Mojo, The Legend or Nord). Wouldn't by any chance drag a B3 around today unless I had a couple technicians to keep it alive and a personal shipping company + roadies to drag it for me.
Kllin' .... @4:52 drummer does a weird fill .... Joey gives him a look like ... dues just keep time this is my show bro lol ... anyone know if that's his normal drummer or a fill in?
I own 3 Hammonds / Leslie 122s and 29 other keyboard instruments (Rhodes 88 Suitcase, Nord 5D 61, Korg SV-1, 2 acoustic pianos, etc).... With a single exception, I have seen this young man every time he has visited St. Louis, MO since 1995, when he is in concert at the intimate jazz venue, "Jazz at the Bistro" - almost yearly. Although I'm sure my butt is sitting on the chair, my bod is doing some funky wigglin' - and I'm not right for a couple days. I'm ALWAYS left amazed and in a daze at his keyboard wizardry!!
Complete right and left hand separation. Yet totally together. Unbelievable talent.
Joey plays so easily, you look at him and it just flows from him. What a fantastic organist.
Jesus Molina giving a big applause at the end. Respect.
yes, YESUS !!! save us all
Man the way he says "Nah, back beat" to the drummer and then it changes everything is awesome.
He makes the left hand stuff look effortless. Amazing.
I have followed his career since I was young, LOL And since he was young. Not enough positive words can express the amazing talent this guy has been gifted with.

Man... if you ever need a smile, this is the vid that makes that happen. What a pleasure and a joy to listen to. Well played sir... well played.
Seriously, I almost screamed for myself, so much I like that you can do with this instrument!
0:33 - quick adjustment for the drummer there - 'uh-uh, backbeat' - classic
Joey is totally awesome! He plays like he has three brains! Drummer did a great job too! I love it.
I think Viscount Legend is the best Hammond B3 clone ever made and more. A really impressive work of their engineers and really impressive playing!
I just got mine, very satisfied, sounds good, the leslieswitch a bit corroded though, nothing else, a good clone
Amazing. People like this are from another planet, or they're connected directly into the music mainframe.
PastTime777 Joey was born into it. He has musical superpowers no doubt.
If that doesn't sell your organization nothing will.
😂
Yes, definitely!

Bill Evans calls it the universal mind
I love watching this guy. Such as fantastic command of the instrument. Fantastic gospel-inspired ending too.
What a master musician Joey is. Just amazing. So soulful.
It makes me wanna cry. This man is gifted!
He played this song last week in South Africa, he is genius. I could not miss that great performance over 2 days.
Those bass lines are perfectly groovy, funny, much more high above sadness and and anger, and let us come in this joyful singing welcoming world of Music with all these subtle and smart chords that play with us and surprise us because they do not arrive exactly when and where they were expected... SMOOKIN! What a keyboard artist. Brain to fingers-exquisite!!! The best.
Grandissimo Joey. In tutti i sensi !
It's crazy to think we came out of the same Highschool in Philly. So much talent in the city of brotherly love.
DeFrancesco never ceases to amaze, but drummer also has skills.
The Hammond is a lost art. Hope more people like Cory Henry start emerging.
His hand independence in my opinion is through the roof. Very gifted.
This brother takes me to church!
I had the awesome pleasure of sharing dinner with him and his wife a few years ago in Akron Ohio
I want to go to your church!

Joey - You`re the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Forever
Joey just gets better year after year. I remember reading about him way back in the day in Keyboard Magazine when he was an up and coming skinny kid, we had no internet back then so it wasn't until years latter I actually heard him .. and he was killer .. even back then.
Joey was ever skinny ? I have to see that :)
But true he is one of the greatest ot there today
I have his first album. Looks like Ralph Macchio on the cover. :-D
What a privilege it was to see Joey perform in person!

James Ingram, RIP 2019 ! Thank you, my brother !
Caught myself looking at my computer screen sideways trying to see what drawbar settings Joey is using...LMBO!!! I love how Joey is using some very practical and standardized settings to show what his signature Viscount can do sonically.
The most amazing Hammond player ever lived on this earth. A musical magician indeed. Wow.
Bruh, you might be stretching that just a tad there my friend! Cory Henry is young and hungry. He is no slouch on the Hammond B3 at all.
Cory Henry fym

Anthony Black .... He digs Jimmy Smith
One of my favorite songs by the late James Ingram 😁I'm loving this.
An absolute joy to listen to.
Grazie, caro Joey sei di un livello sovraumano.
Awesome all the time. You can feel the Music..
Swingin. Nice Hammond simulation on that Viscount. Of course, with JDF playing, it’s magic.
One of the best musicians on earth
What a joy to experience that!
First time I heard this piece was in 1982 on a radio station from San Diego, called KOGO and I love this piece since then :) :) :)
Долгих, долгих счастливых и плодотворных лет жизни любимому исполнителю!

From 5:55 to the end, it`s great and fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who would have the audacity to thumbs down this? Let's hear you play with one hundredth of the spirit and sheer mastery of the instrument! People are capable of the heights of brilliance and the depths of idiocy.
Yet another video from a namm event that I simply can’t stop watching!
Credo esse cara é fenomenal, nem vou me arriscar postar em inglês. Maravilhoso e assustador tamanha habilidade e coordenação motora manifestada em musica boa.
Damn Mr. DeFrancesco you're such a beast...thank you for sharing this witn us 😁
Saw him in PHX about a decade ago and glad to see him going strong.

Thank You☘️😌
Please subscribe to my channel!
@@yoshikimaicoimelb-c0261 I think it's a little bit way to fast, compared how he plays it with his band mates on 🎸 & 🥁 s
Superb! Thank you for uploading the full tune!
Credit to the drummer too, very articulate plaaying
Just my thought, very skilfull and talented
It must be more than just nice if you can display some musical genius during an afternoon showcase.
Joey still looks like he can move his organ all by himself. That's even better.
In awe, what a player! Lots of RUclips sensations can kill it but this guy is a different cat.
He can make any keyboard sound good!!!
What Peterson did on piano , he does on organ that sound never gets old
Those bass runs are ridiculous
Show us ...!
you mean rediculously damn good? indeed they are
Blow us out of the water!!
Excellent delivery on the Hammond B3 !!!
I love this tune so much!
Joey is number one!!
Music comes from the soul
I saw his playing in Seoul in 95 with John Mclaughlin live... it was amazing... 👍👍
So awesome, and such an ironically timely tribute to James Ingram...
Joey DeFrancesco is the Chopin of Hammond Organ.
4:47 Drummmer caught with his pants down :(( The one and only Joey helps like a real gent he is!!!
OOOH MAN! ENOUGH SAID. PERIOD. Fantastic.
Sin palabras lo mejor q veo desde hace mucho tiempo .por la capacidad de dividirse q tiene
Felicidades gordito
I see Jesus Molina in the background checking out Joey D!!
: ) yeah I noticed that as well at times he almost had an expression of "yeah, well let's see what this guy's got" : )
Two monsters !!
Real musicians love music and being around listening to other musicians.
me as well... - but I was asking myself, how I should interpret his Pokerface: he seems to enjoy his chewing gum more than the music ;-)...
You mean three monsters... Joey D, Jesus Molina, and Kemuel Roig. 😉
Great feeling on the organ :-P
WOW, what a performance.
Love that sound!
To those that complain about the drummer, he's doing a really good job, and Joey's diggn' it! He's totally following Joey's lead! Pretty cool stuff! That's what I call Jamming!
Excellent playing and tone.
YES! So good!
Coś nieprawdopodobnego !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow - niech zakrzyknę po staropolsku :-)
I just got my Keyb, not the black signed version by Joey,D (sorry:) but the wooden version, the Legend, but i have a thousand steps to climb to get even near this gigante! Greetings, Levi in Sweden

Love that B3 if that's what that is. The sound is just inexplicably sweeeeettttt!!!!!!!!!
definitely NOT a B3. it says what it is in the title of the video.

Thanks, Joseph!
drummer guy quickly snapped into playing the correct beat when Joey looked at him! So funny
He wanted to play a bossa pattern, but Joey said "back beat!"
Joey gave him a few looks. Dude, you're not there to show off. You're there to support the man.
Lol didnt even sound bad before he said back beat
But the drummer is a very good drummer, skilfull
i like this funny term of yours "the correct beat"
I own 3 Hammonds / Leslie 122s and 29 other keyboard instruments (Rhodes 88 Suitcase, Nord 5D 61, Korg SV-1, 2 acoustic pianos, etc)....
