I forgot to video them, but it’s been 3 weeks since I first set up the tank. Had no ammonia and nitrite spikes. Only some nitrates which would indicate that the cycle is finished and I can rid them with water changes.
Possibly.. I shouldn’t think you’d really need to bother unless the power is out for more than half a day. Even then I’d be more worried about the temperature drop than the filter :)
Yeah it's very interesting. Not many filters have the correct media to support that part of the cycle either. I'm using BioHome ultimate biological media and that provides space for anaerobic bacteria, which in turn is the bacteria that does the nitrate to nitrogen part of the cycle :)
This is true. There are loads on the market and to be honest most are good and will help start up a new tank. If this product was available to me again then yes I’d use it :)
@@SimplyShrimps something that has occurred to me or rather it happened to me is I used a bacterial booster. It sort of worked, but I was getting low (very low) ammonia readings with one Betta in a 15 gallon tank, plus I used some used filter material in my HOB filter. It never really cleared up the ammonia, never saw much if any nitrite or nightrate reading. I had a Betta that was it. Finally I decided the used biowheel filter I had was not moving enough water and the design of that filter housing was not conducive to good exposure of media to water. I bought an AquaClear and because it is designed much differently, all of the media (I added the old stuff) was in contact with the water going through it. This seemed to fix my problem, everyone is happy and soon my shrimp lungs will be ready to rule the world!
Do I use the ammonia stop immediately after putting in the bacteria?
Does this needs to be refrigerated?
Can i use the stop ammo if i don’t have any fish?
Hi can I use biodigest stop ammo biotim. To start saltwater aquarium in 12 hours?
I’m not to sure with marine set ups, sorry
@@SimplyShrimps okay thanks anyways 😉
Simply splendid video bro!
Why thank you :D
what are those plants in the water at the top?
It’s an artificial tree branch from the florist section in a garden centre :)
Lol...OK.thanks
Hi don't mind I ask
If my tank for fresh water is 140 to 150 gallons
How many of this I need to use to create bacteria in the new tank
What is Dosage we need for 14gal tank? Thanks. Ahh almost forgot. Ias that really save to adding Shrimps after 4 hour?
I don't think you can overdose really. If you are adding shrimp i'd add cherries first as they are more hardy :)
Nice one mate!!
Cheers mate
how long should i wait after using biodigest for my crystal shrimps?
What would the pH be able to go down too with this soil , using RO water
Where can I buy the hoodie ypur wearing?
Unfortunately I don't sell any merchandise... (yet) :P
Did you just use the bio gest or both?
I'd be interested to see what your water test results actually were after 4 hours. 😊

Simply Shrimps interesting! I wonder if they can also be used as an emergency measure, say after a powercut lasting more that an hour?
Possibly.. I shouldn’t think you’d really need to bother unless the power is out for more than half a day. Even then I’d be more worried about the temperature drop than the filter :)
I’d be interested in the science behind the nitrate breakdown to nitrogen. Not something that happens in most filter situations.

It has been a year. Are you still using this product? Sounds good but checking in a year later I thought was prudent.
I only really used it to help kick start the aquarium. I don’t use it on going as my tank is very stable.
@@SimplyShrimps there is a lot of debate about these bacteria boosters, so what I am asking is would you still use this product?

That’s strange. I’m happy for you and your shrimp that you managed to get it sorted though 😁
