    You could do experiment like leaving a really small aquarium mossy, and let each of them clean, which took the least and the most time to clean.

    Nerite snails are amazing. As you said shrimps tend not to touch the glass. Though the babies love eating the biofilm so of wanting to breed shrimp it's best to leave some algae for food

    Nice video, I use Malaysian Snails and Ramshorn Snails to keep my tanks clean. They are not only good for cleaning the algae up but also eat up any excess food so the shrimp don't over-feed. I made a channel to show you can make low-maintenance, small planted aquariums out of glass bottles and I keep a few shrimp and snails in a glass drinks dispenser!

    I loved my Nerite snails, but my water is way too soft for them now... and when they die, they're absolute ammonia bombs so you have to watch em like a hawk for any signs they're on their last legs... or foot. 😵

    I really like MTS. They do a great job at disturbing the substrate to stop detritus and toxic gasses building up. They will clean the glass and plants at night when they come out. Although they breed easily, if your tank gets over populated it's because you're overfeeding them or the fish, and they are eating the leftovers.

    • @SimplyShrimps
      @SimplyShrimps  5 лет назад

      This is true. I maintain someone’s tank and you could literally draw a smiley face on the glass by knocking off the snails 😂 I told them to feed less. Next time I cleaned the tank there was an acceptable amount of snails 🐌

    🌺Love your videos! Once I was planning to purchase some Amano shrimps, but salesperson didn't recommend me keeping them with my Red Cherry Shrimps (RCS). Salesperson said, they'll eat & be very aggressive to the RCS, so I didn't get them. Someone else told me Siamese Algae Eaters (SAE) are especially great at eating Black Beard Algae. Was told to purschase the baby SAE & when it gets too large, return them to the store or put them in a larger tank. What do you think of using SAE in a small tank?🤔

    • @SimplyShrimps
      @SimplyShrimps  5 лет назад

      It depends on how big your tank is? But I would agree amano shrimp can be more aggressive eaters and can harass others. The SAE would have to be pretty tiny. I did the same to be honest once. I put a SAE that was about 5-6cm in a 50 litre aquarium then moved it out. It’s now in my 500 litre aquarium and about 15cm long :)

    If shrimp have nothing left to graze on, they will clean up the glass. But since they require so little to eat that the biofilm and algae on the other surfaces is plenty, they won't touch the glass. Also in my experience Neocaridina are the better algae eaters, because if they do not receive supplemental feeding, they eat more types of algae than Amanos. Amanos only seem more efficient because they eat more within a given time frame, they have larger appetite.

    • @SimplyShrimps

      @@SimplyShrimps yea it did but I’m not sure if the small catfish could get in the small spaces it’s getting bad at so I’ll probably get a few shrimp with like 3 of the little fish so it’s kinda balanced or because I already have Culi loaches (I’m not sure how to spell it lol) I may get shrimp and snails

You must love shrimp though, and if you get the chance should make a video on the rock shrimp and the biggest kinds of shrimp

    Some very nice options in this video!
    I must ask a silly question, that's not actually related to this topic. How do you get any detritus out of the substrate in an aquarium with a plant carpet like your nano tank in this video? Or is that unnecessary in that sort of tank?

    • @SimplyShrimps
      @SimplyShrimps  4 года назад +1

      You just siphon it like normal :) just press the siphon gently on the carpeting plant so that you don’t uproot them but it should be fine.
