- We started making "Gay Family Values" videos as a response to prop 8 here in Ca. These videos have been a huge hit. We have come to understand that the reason these videos are so popular is that people dont get to see what it means to be a gay couple in a long term relationship raising children. Our family is no better and no worse then any other family.
We have been getting lots of questions about our family and in the past we would respond to every email we received. We have decided to open our family up to questions you may have

Once again , Amazing video! You both have given me such a great outlook on kids, which i can never thank you enough. I never had supportive parents that took an interest in what i wanted to do in my life. I'm still very bitter about my childhood and how my life would have turned out if i had better support. You are true examples of what love can do. You give your children amazing values and wonderful life lessons. They are light years ahead of the game! Thanks again!

All that is really needed to make a family is love - and you obviously have much between you and to tons to give to your beautiful children.
Guys, thank you for putting this out there. You have a beautiful family and the love and care for your kids comes across strong. From a fellow gay dad with an adopted son, this is something we considered as well before adopting, but we know that teasing is no reason to deprive a child a loving home. Kids are teased for every reason imaginable. What counts is raising your children to be strong, self-confident and able to respond to discrimination. All the best!

I just now started watching your videos, and I just want to say that you guys are awesome. I thank you for sharing your lives. It literally brought tears my eyes. I like what you said about "don't stereotype others and don't stereotype yourself" Some time ago I lost that belief. Living in a conservative town isn't easy. Being first generation Asian American and Gay is something that makes me special, and need to embrace this more each day . Thanks again from a new fan.
I can not say how much I love your family!I'm studying to be a social worker and I can tell you that I know many, many children's lives would benefit from having parents like you two. You both are obviously loving and nuturing parents who want the best for their children. You are exeplary people who ignore the biology of a child and love him/her who they are. Wow....what's amazing about this is that it is so disarming. No matter who you are you can feel "love" when you are in its presence. I felt the love in that video of beings that are all fortunate to have each other. Thank you for welcoming us into your lives. God bless you, whomever he or she or it is does definately love you.

The measuring door is the same as our family's. We, as kids, had to include our cats and dogs, too!
Good points about teasing. I grew up in a rural area and got teased - in class - for being a good student in 6th grade. My parents had a conversation with the teacher for him to change the tone of the class and set a basic standard of behavior. No reason to be ashamed of your talents or of your own being.

Over the 10 yrs we've been married we have raised four foster kids with disabilities (only the olderst who just turned 19 is still with us) and 7 yrs ago we adopted Zev who is now ten. I am so glad you did this video. Im 23 and ive started to think about family and kids within the next 4-5 years and Ive always worried about people teasing my kids for having two moms. You're absolutely right when it comes to bullying, it has everything to do with the bully, who will jump at anything, be it that someone's fat, wears glasses, stutters or has gay parents. I've just come across you guys' videos, and this is a major issue I had with me thinking of my future.. I've always wanted a stable relationship with a guy when I'm older, but was worried about adopting/surrogating, incase the kids' got bullied. Thanks for the insight on this matter. When I was younger I was teased a lot because of my cleft lip... more so than being gay. I got called the normal "sissy" and such, but it was mostly always because of my lip.

I am glad that there are some examples of gay families today. I am writing a series and want to get it on TV especially because of the fact that gay youth especially aren't seeing anyone who are like them. Good job guys, I'm gonna watch more of your videos!

You guys have such a beautiful family! I feel like when you're young, you don't differentiate between really sensitive topics and other topics when being made fun of ..which in one way is bad, since you generally take everything on the same negative level, but it's good.. in that you don't take things as harshly as an adult. I am mildly physically disabled, and remember kids making fun of me endlessly in my early school years.

About homophobia, I found Bryan's comment about not stereotyping ourselves interesting. I find myself in an odd situation in that I won't let anyone put down gay folks, I'll defend the situation, and yet when it comes to myself, I hate who I am... I will not acknowledge my gay side... Your videos mean so much to me because, as sad as this sounds, I live my gay side through you guys and other gay friends I have...

About teasing, I think it's important to remember that the problem belongs to the bully, not to the bullied. A very simple way to get through bullying for kids is to teach them to repeat in their heads, "I'm okay, their problem belongs to them, not me."
This was my first video i watched from you guys and I HAVE to say it: You guys are amazing!! Truly touching and really real. I hope many people notice you guys so you can eliminate some of the demonizing stereotypes of same sex parents. I subscribes immediately. Oh and please don't make this into a TV show. because they will compromise your realism. They will make it into some kind of reality show and it won't be real anymore. KEEP IT UP!!
