- It's been a little over 500 days since the Knight released and despite getting some minor tweaks, he's still suffering from certain bugs that have existed since his release. I really love the Knight's design and I'd love to play him more but I just cannot stand how absolutely terrible he feels to play.

Sometimes otz, when downing a survivor and throwing a guard around the perimeter of the downed survivor ,you can know where other survivors are or down another depending on how long guard chase is

As a P100 knight main I gotta say: They did manage to fix a major bug with the last Mid-Chapter patch. Guards now FINALLY react to "loud actions" within their detection range. Which has been bugged almost since release.
Also Knight cannot teleport anymore and the pallet-stun-nonesense happens less often

They just took Spirit's phasing mechanic and put it on him. You can tell by how he always disappears for one second when he completes setting up a path, and appears at the end location for a split second too.

yeah, the way nemesis whip and xeno tail are identical projectiles and one just doesnt have wind up frames and doesnt go down from up, is further proof to this theory, they do this a lot, i've been saying for years how fucking unbelievably lazy the devs are and people wanna give them way too much credit

the saddest part is that skull merchant still deploys the drone, even if she is stunned during the animation. but i guess the knight will always have the most sluggish ability, courtesy of BHVR's brilliant balancing decisions. they should just give him some pokeballs that he can throw and deploy mini versions of his guards

Girl… no one even brought up Skull Merchant. Also you didn’t even think about you said or even watched the video. Otz mentioned that the way Knight’s power is coded is that the Knight is technically existing even during the cast time of your power, even if it doesn’t look that way (not verbatim). It’s almost like Knight removes himself from the trial during the cast time and becomes a new point of view which is what occurs when the path is drawn out.

The Knight would do so well with a simple “Quick Guard” button for pallets/gens. Completely removes the awkward stepback and power flashbang that leaves the bugged element on the ground possibly. It’s so disorienting to use his power mid chase on some tiles. It wouldn’t need to be over long distances just literally an alternative to kicking things himself
So damn true. I don't know why he doesn't already have one. It's so awkward having to go into your power for a split second just to break something right in front of you. All I want is just to be able to point at something and my guard breaks it. Wouldn't even be much of a buff, just a QoL ability.

the issue with the knight is by the time you click your ability and move it to the position you want.. the survivor already left the loop and its all for nothing.. only works in low elos
I dont get it, why dont they just make stun immunuity for your "guard form"? Like Sadako when demanifested. Wouldn't it be a pretty simple solution even with a spaghetti code?

Well I guess the code for that didn't exist until they made it for Sadako, and maybe the idea hasn't come across them yet to just copy that code into Knight

Since they most likely just copy pasted the code from spirit's phasing to make the knight's guard placing. They behave so similarly that it's a very high possibility.

The thing is you can't try gimmicky builds as killer because having 0 gen defense perks is basically asking to lose. The survivours just spread out and it's impossible to keep all of them off gens since you can only chase one person at a time.
I think it depends on a few factors. I cannot stand gen sim, so every single one of my perks is dedicated to stomping in chase. And I'd say it works pretty well 2/3 of the time. Don't give up on fun perks!
@@oMilkTeaaTTV luck does play a part in it. Alot of survivours who aren't as good in chase will lose to certain gimmicky builds. Any knowledgeable survivours will most likely not fall for gimmick builds. Also i just hate machine learning, since it requires so much time to activate and the outcome isn't even worth it.

Behavior should make gen charges require 25% more, then nerf all gen slowdown perks by 50%.
BOOM. Now killers aren't forced into taking slowdown perks unless they absolutely need them other perks become more viable.

I just get angry by how much "summon guard" pop in and out on the screen. 50% of the time you can't use your power because you are not dead center between two walls.

Yes bro like the majority of the time I try to like break a pallet or gen with the power I just end up looking at it awkwardly for a few seconds before getting frustrated and just doing it myself 💀
I love playing as knight because the power concept and character is really cool to me, but with the bugs that he still has after almost two years AND his ass add-ons make me wish BHVR would do something bro
Knight is more starved for QoL improvements than Nemesis is for STARS
And Nemesis is more starved for add-on reworks than Chris is for boulders
The only thing Nemesis needs is his zombies being able to be stunned without having to waste a pallet or need a flashlight/bang. It's pretty annoying how his zombies can apply so much pressure to gens, there should be a 6-10 second struggle animation between a survivor and zombie to stun them.

Skull Merchant can't be stunned by a pallet that's practically in another suburb. And when you get Haste with Skull Merchant, it actually feels...y'know... usable?

That stun thingy makes me think that Hubris is the intended perk for Knight (they knew from the start that it's gonna be a spaghetti coded killer).

All I want is for knight to have some addons become base kit and for a general bug fix. I love knight and wish he would be better to play.

Map of the Realm needed to be BASEKIT since his PTB. Playing without it is like playing without a power

Huntress’s skill floor was too high compared the modern DbD standard.
So, yes, from a perspective of being less beginner-unfriendly, she needed it FAR more than knight.
This game also showcases that builds on Knight are quite limited since you HAVE to have Map of the Realm on. As a P100 Knight, if im going to have my guards have bigger detection, I just slap on dried horsemeat, so that Carnifex wastes 30 seconds of a survivor's time and Assassin gets a guaranteed hit on no windows or pallets . (I run Pain Res, BBQ, Surge and Lethal).
carnifex at most will waste 12 seconds of a survivor time because survivor can pick up the flag. Otz's issue with knight is that he breaks pallets. with knight, he's not suppose to break any pallets. he's just suppose to zone with guards and get free hits at corners of the map. He's misplaying for how to use the knight.

Spaghetti code, frequent issues, long-lasting bugs... Almost never (in my experience) a programmer skill issue. It's a management issue. Time pressure, bad priorities, poor communication, etc. 90% of the time it's bad product management. So just, if we're blaming people, (and we should), blame the right people.
I love knight and it makes me sad that he gets a lot of hate. He has a ton of potential, and could get some cool cosmetics in the future. Wish I got his head cosmetic during the event.
People don’t like Knight (survivors) because he’s one of the few killers average players can’t loop/beat. Same thing goes for Skull Merchant, her 3 gen was unbeatable so of course guys like otz and spooky loops are gonna demonize Skull merchant

When it's placed directly under you, it's a guaranteed blind, even when you look directly up
Someone with Background Player can stay out of range of hearing them at all
It's not just flashbangs. Flashlights also get this buff with Background Player. There is no counter to it, period.

i would hope there is no counter to a stun when its directly placed under you most likely when youre in the open. Just slug them they get like 3 seconds of distance, once you know someone is trying to stun everytime it shouldnt happen again often

2:29 this principle also works with ultimate weapon, when you place a guard the game thinks the terror radius is where you placed the guard and all survivors inside will scream. You can use it to gain info on the other side of the map.
Ideas to make Knight better:
1. Fix the Knight's power VS pallet jank. Should be an obvious item that needs to be fixed.
2. Make the Knight's addons stronger. Addons that provide such weak boosts do practically nothing and make your other addon choices predictable.
3. Have guards react to the Knight's aura reading. If the Knight can see Survivor auras, patrolling guards should be able to see and react to them, but the guards' aura reading is limited to auras the Knight can see (i.e. using BBQ & Chili reveals Survivors' auras 60/50/40 meters from only the Knight's position, not from any of the guards' positions).
Uuuuh the biggest thing he needs is map of the realm basekit

Simplistic fix for knight is to give him a secondary power where he “commands” his next guard to do a break action on something. Let’s say if he’s within 5 meters and looking at it. He can press the secondary power button to summon the guard to start breaking it without having to go into his power. To balance it they can have him slow down for like a second afterwards.
If they truly can’t get around the coding issue. Then that’s the work around.
If they can stop Sadako from being pallet-stunned when she's de-manifested, then they can do the same thing for the Knight when he's summoning a guard. They simply haven't. Laziness? Parasitic management?

I know a real killler main currently on a 146+ win streak with Knight. Otz only play this killer to further complain and everyone like you will follow his opinion on said killer

I hate that little split second of stutter from when you press the power button and when you actually make the path. It makes him feel so clunky. I also wish you could just break a pallet or a gen without going into your power so you can do that stuff during chase. He's just so damn jankey to play I hate it

You can send out a guard while another is already out, but they travel slowly in a straight line until they reach a gen, pallet, or detect a player

Nah, that would make him hella oppressive. However, they could make it so that he gains haste whenever his guards are hunting someone down.
Because that way, every single guard is desired equally. The Carnifex would be great if you need to dedicate to a chase elsewhere, the Assassin is amazing for your current chase, and comes after the Carnifex, and the Jailer is great for either picking up a survivor (so nearby survivors trying to go for a save are instantly targetted and damaged) or for patrolling the hooks. And then you can start the cycle again.
The problem isn’t the killer as designed the problem is that design is poorly implemented and plagued with technical issues and poor QOL decisions. You can’t use his power freely at most loops due to collision issues blocking it, you can get incorrectly stunned as demonstrated at the beginning of this video, guard AI is extremely easy to manipulate, and without addons his numbers (I.e. path length, detection range) feel very weak.
@@Predated2 I feel like, if anything, that's a good thing, it standardizes them without getting rid of any of their uniqueness, so the skill ceiling is still high (possibly higher since every shot would be long-range) but the skill floor is lower, being easier to achieve.
His power doesn't need a rework, his power is what makes him unique. The problem is his weird bugs and his reliance on add-ons. Map of the Realm and Call to Arms should be at least partially base kit, and his other addons do practically nothing.
Although I done agree that the guard ai needs to be changed too much though. My only problem with them is they get stuck on obstacles sometimes, and that should definitely be fixed. I feel part of what makes Knight fun (and something a lot of survivors don't realize) is that you can manipulate the guard into doing something stupid that gives you distance. So it's possible to loop the Knight and the guard at the same time.
Not multiple guards but I do love the halo reach hologram type idea. Push button and guard will do a quick radius check for survivors pallets and gens then they’ll walk forward at speeds that match the guard with detection ranges that also differ.

I always loved the knight since his release, it saddens me how little he changed since... shame. Let's hope for some changes one day, and that knight will not be twins number 2
As a Knight main, my only advice for that is to plant your guard before they drop and wait a sec, if nothing just move your guard around the area.
I pray they have Map of the Realm and/or call to arms base kit some day soon. And definitely fix the bugs for him
It's always refreshing seeing Otz having a rough time cause it really does show you that yeah he can get frustrated like everyone but with how quick he is to just go back to being level headed and continue to try his best with every attempt
Otz in this vid reminded me of that one episode from the Simpsons where Ned Flanders looses it and implodes on everyone.
The thing that makes no sense to me is that knight didnt get stunned in orb mode at pallets on launch. He didnt used to teleport to where the orb spawned for .1 seconds and activate a bunch of TR perks inadvertently. He just started doing that a bit after release and IDK why they made that change because it didn't happen before
I think it’s safe to say knight is now the most forgotten killer by the devs, at least they tried to do something with twins, and as a P100 knight main it’s really a shame that one bug hasn’t been fixed nor has he received any addon changes (I mean come on just make motr basekit please) but regardless I still love tarhos and the bois
Honestly Knight needs the same buff as twins did.
PTB twins are one of few killers (aside from release PBT legion) that held high standards of assumerrical gameplay.
This is 1v4 game. If it is perfectly balanced, only way for the minority role to lose is through their own mistakes.
Example: Nurse. If she lands blinks, she wins. If she messes up, she is liable to lose.
Game should be dictated by the micro-skill of the killer.
Could you believe the devs would rather give a far more less interesting and boring killer in skull merchant who is hated by everyone while also getting a ton of skins when knight is on the side like twins never getting love.
1:11 - Yep, happens to me all the time on Knight. I remember placing an assassin guard in the infamous hallway above basement on The Game, and somehow the survivor looped the guard in a straight line without dropping or using any of the two pallets. I was absolutely speechless.
The last time i played Knight was also the only time ive ragequit a game because i kept encountering all the bugs he still has. Absolutely miserable to play.
They disabled him for a month so they could address a single bug that was inconvenient for survivors but failed to fix the several still existing that basically break him for killers. Why.
I am so sad about this. I have seen this game on stream and I love Knight but this just makes me not want to play him at all. No hope of it getting better either :l
I watch a RUclipsr King Wolfe he’s in a 145+ win streak with Knight right now. But he’s a true killer main that don’t go by the survivor rule book. It’s all who you watch don’t lose hope.

I think a nice quality of life to Knight would be not having to go into the summon mode to send a guard to nearby pallet/gen. Instead you press a button within range and a guard goes to it idk

That would probably help, maybe like nurse where you charge the power right RMB, aim by moving the mouse, and release RMB to launch? Then it's not separate mode. Idk lol
Expanding his power to two types would be pretty cool, a quick prompt to make the guard patrol in a straight line in front of you or to hit something in line of sight. And then the current power which let's you manually set a path or an out of sight objective.
They also needs the ability to activate they power walking, like Adriana, you must be stop and stay still for 1 second to the prompt to summon guard appears
@@lunaliciousgeeki think since the knight (in pc) only uses the button m2 and m1 for his power, they should add that mechanic using the CTRL button. So you can instantly send out your current guard to break a pallet or gen by just looking at the pallet/gen and simply pressing CTRL. But they’re too lazy to add that ig
The guards are like TOW missiles in Battlefield 4. You can shoot the missile, and kill the operator
The other weird thing with the game thinking the Knight is where his summoning trail is that he'll briefly appear where you spawn the guard and you can hear his terror radius for an instant
I've been playing The Knight for a week now and every single game I get is a 4k, including three SWF's who tried to gen rush was. And another SWF who were doing gens and using head-on builds and I STILL won those games. He's so broken😭
It's so sad to see a killer with such an amazing aesthetic and genuinely interesting power be neglected nearly as much as the twins.
One of my friends is a knight main and he told me that pretty much NONE of the bugs that this killer had have been fixed even if they said that they fixed them. Yes, that includes the teleportation bug. It didn't resurface, it was always there.
Credit where credit is due, the last updates have all been amazing but it doesn't make up for the fact, that they neglect the actual game in favour of new content
I feel your pain, the only reason i play Knight currently it's for his amazing chase theme and how the horn goes DOOOOOOOOOOT when a guard chase someone, i don't really go in expecting to win.
A really fun build I've been playing with is Play with Your food, Hubris, Enduring, and Brutal strength. Though, if your playing a killer like Nemesis that can already break pallets pretty fast, just put on whatever you want as your 4th. It makes the game much more fun trying to get Hubris value with Play with your food cause your sooo fast, especially as Skull Merchant whenever a tracker gets attached to survivor.

As a Knight main, I want to add I really don’t think “Map of the Realm” is as necessary as everyone says it is. Drawing paths out a little longer and making good predictions, you can catch nearly anyone. I also think giving Survivors the opportunity to predict and dodge the guards is really important - often times, getting detected in a corner can be a death sentence and Knight honestly needs a little more counterplay in some areas
Not to mention because it thinks youre where the patrol is, the terror radius is always freaking out
I mean Knight and Skull Merchant is still a snooze fest.
Freddy is really immersive because I actually sleep going against him.
Then there's 1/4 of my games against Weskers so less variety

Feels like a lot of his recent videos are more analytical or have some sort of idea around them; and while I do appreciate the hard work and time dedication, I miss the simplicity of his older vids

I wish they turn his two necessary addons into basekit (map of the realm and that yellow addon which give you longer patrol distance and haste), i used to play knight without those addons when i was new and he felt great, but once i reached higher MMR, you can't catch the survivors, most will outrun the detection range of the guards and the power becomes a boring anti loop.
I have PTSD from The Knight entirely because of the living hell he was in the gen kick meta. I have the same visceral response to him as I do Skull Merchant.
I only play chase merchant, and it's insane how little counterplay she has even if you don't 3 gen. She might need a complete power change at this point

I wouldn’t be opposed to a major patch that focuses entirely on un-spaghettifying the code. No new killer, survivor or perks, but doing a deep dive and fixing all the bugs and figuring out why some things break other things, update the game engine from its state that it started in eight years ago, and maybe throw in graphical improvements. I’d be more happy with that instead of another buggy killer and poorly balanced perk rework.
He may be bad but for some reason I really enjoy watching Knight gameplay.
I like the concept of the guards and I think it'd be really cool if it was done correctly.

I remember that the best gameplay of Knight that I saw was where they played it out like the Bill situation at 8:50 for the entire game. They constantly made the survivors run into him while the guards chased, not caring at all about the idea of double tapping them (which felt like the only thing people thought knight might be good at even though he was clearly terrible at it). It’s a shame I can’t recall who it was.
It's a shame too as someone that was really hyped to have a knight killer it sucks to see this
They made Sadako unstunnable when demanifested, so there’s really no excuse to why they can’t do the same for Knight
One of my biggest wants for this Killer is a bit of a numbing of exactly how much information Survivors have regarding his power. The thought of setting patrol paths and stuff is cool but not practical for what is clearly their intended use when Survivors are able to see you setting the path, the exact route of the path and the line of sight of the guards patrolling it. It ultimately makes it so the power is only really practical when Survivors have nowhere else to go, which doesn't feel like the intention.
They should make ghostly guards walk all 3 on the map and the knight decides which guard to take semi-physical form to make them patrol as they do now. Maybe give them a cue whenever survivors are nearby (like Nemi's zombies) this way he has map knowledge and if a guard starts a chase then you have your medieval sandwhich
Knight is the least of my problems currently with DBD; I’ve never had a problem running the game until the unknown came out; suddenly I’ve had severe connectivity issues not related to my hardware or internet. The servers keep kicking me and I am getting insane penalties. I’ve flushed, reset, uninstalled/reinstalled, etc. and when I reached out for support my request was declined and they sent me to their generic support page which I’ve now completed twice. They don’t care as long as money keeps coming in. It’s sad.
I have a cool Knight build, Starstruck, Distressing, Agitation and Awakened Awareness. Use the first guard to help secure a down easily and then run around making everyone exposed for an easy next down
knight is one those killer where i strongly dont believe in like him having same M1 range as the other killers, like him pyramid head are working with a different range then other killers , because never spin against his great sword
I think spirit fury on knight is bugged to because whenever i break pallets with my guards, it doesn't add to spirit fury

If you use the perk that leaves them exposed after you got stunned out of power with enduring and spirit furry I wonder if that would work

Knight is a killer that’s a fantastic concept but falls short because of add-on dependency , playing him without map of the realm feels so bad
i remember you saying that if you get stunned while spawning a guard you would punch your camera otz. Remember to check for dead hard tho
i haven’t played dbd in a while and i didn’t play him on release but i always really like playing knight, being able to pressure 2 points at once is fun and engages me more than most killers. i find it more fun than like half the roster so i think he’s cool

Here is the strat try and find a gen with two or more pistons kick the gen then you need to keep survivors off of this gen they may try and rush it but thats ok as you will naturally be building more pressure over time. As this build keeps them really busy, allowing for better micro as you patrol gens (try and find any gen that has the most progress) this will let trail do its thing while your guards hunt one person and you another as you want you and your guards chasing the same person as little as possible too split the pressure to the whole team
Recently I had another very wierd bug. It's a little hard to describe, so bear with me.
So I taped a guard on top of downed survivor. Just to prevent flashlight safe. And ny guard decided that he don't want to stay at one place, abd went flying to the previous guard spawn location. Basically across half a map.
But that's not all. As it was seemed, game decided to connect this two spawn points into one path, because after he ran to previous spawn, he wanted to go to the first point I spawned him. And, what even more weird is that he couldn't go through wall. So he had no problem phase through it inside the shack, but couldn't get out and ended up running to the wall
Hello from a knight main, i just hate his bugs. There just SO many times where i get robbed of hits or get punished for using his power
I was thinking to buy Knight to make use of that sick helmet I have lying around, but seeing this gameplay makes me reconcider
our Knight outfits are matching and I didn't even see yours before I made mine
knight is so cool in aesthetic but so...eh in game play. He's one of the killers I do indeed like to play but...only when I'm specifically in the mood.

Knight is ironically strong at tunneling and that’s it, loop denying is also a thing but the guards are so slow they never get the hit, and the assassin never gets a hit because they chase for 2 seconds before giving up smh

The perks are pretty fun it’s the clunkiness of the guards and slow movement that make it almost useless to use the power at all bringing the killer the the tier of any pyramid head addons that aren’t range based. They can work but would you wanna use them?
i wish they'd make the Knight's power have a brief channel time or something so that you can fake it like you can with other killer's powers. It'd be so much more fun in chase since normally once a survivor sees you go into power they just ran away to another loop. if there was a way to fake it then you could sorta mind game it and not get locked into the super long animation to catch up to them more easily.
What is weird to me is that they absolutely can make the Knight unstunnable while using power - they did it with Sadako. So it's not like a new thing that would require rewriting half of the game code, it is already in the game

To me, the knight was the straw that broke the camel's back. I love both multitasking and medieval themes, so when I heard about the knight I even returned to play DBD and learn him, look for guides and mains that made content with him.
I really wanted to be chasing someone, sending guards around the map that felt like threats, intercept people that my guards were chasing. But even with some added benefits to make long patrols, his guards are so weak that they are mostly to annoy survivors or fast deploy in the middle of some loop.
And also, he had many bugs, both visual and mechanical. The stuns, the green circles, I don't even know if the guards still go all the way around if threw a pallet when he was chasing you. That was the moment that I uninstalled and never played again.
Shit like this is the sole reason I haven't gotten Knight yet. The only reason I've ever considered getting him was to get Nowhere to Hide, and even though I still REALLY want it (I missed it while it was in the shrine) I refuse to get a killer that can be this infuriating to play.
