- How to remove, clean and replace the Variable Valve Timing (VVT) solenoid on a 2003 to 2010 Nissan Micra K12 with the 1.0 litre petrol engine. If this unit gets clogged up or stops working properly it can cause problems like rough idling, engine RPM fluctuations, reduced mileage or even more serious problems. You may also get a check engine light caused by a P0011 code. It’s worth cleaning this solenoid first, to see if it will fix the issue. I would recommend cleaning it with EGR & Carb cleaner. If you need to replace the unit, the part number is 23796-AX02A. Thanks for watching. Please comment, like and subscribe !.

Perfect, this is correct for Nissan Note/Verso 1.4 petrol as well, I believe. Really helpful video thanks. Couldn't find any information on this anywhere else, but followed your clear video and stripped everything down and cleaned the solenoid. Quite gummy, with a few particulates around the mesh. Car hasn't felt more spritely in age! Thanks again.
You're welcome, thanks for watching !
Excellent live Video description.I wasn't aware that these engines were fitted with this.Shows the importance of regular oil changes to avoid the issues you've highlighted.Best Wishes M
Thank you!
Robisz bardzo przydatne filmy ,dziękuję 👍
Thank you for sharing. Your engine looks superbly clean there. Even a non mechanical person can watch this video and learn something from it. Thank you for making it so simple.
Thanks for watching !
Thanks a lot !!!
I fixed my Micra K12 III 1.4l 2005
Thanks again
You're welcome, thanks for watching !
I'm just about to do it on mine...it give me that p0011 trouble code.
Million dollars information for me thanks 👍

Thanks again for the video, I have removed and cleaned the solenoid and the code seems to have cleared. Just got a question relating to the hose removed at the start. On my daughters micra, at the end of the hose where it pushes into the engine side, this was secured with gaffer tape!! Should there be a gasket on the end of the pipe or something else as it just flops about without the tape? Thanks.
Do you mean the plastic intake pipe that goes from the bumper to the air cleaner housing ?. The one on my Micra also had black insulating tape wrapped around it to make it a tighter fit. I think when new there would have been tabs on the end that locked into place when rotated 90 degrees, but they have probably worn off or broken off over time. I think it should be ok to use tape to seal it as long as it isn't blocking any air flow.
Ok thanks yes exactly what I meant.
Does the P0011 code need to be cleared /reset afterwards? Great video by the way.
I think it clears itself once the issue has been fixed
Is this the same as P1110 INT/V TIM CONT B-1?
it shows error p0011 on my nissan note 1.4 2006 visa se (Bank 1"A" Cam Position Timing System Performance. Was told to replace that valve. Already bought the replacement one, didn't know i could only clean it, and try. If it appears to be different - then I might just try to clean the old one. Was thinking should i just do that or there is some other actions needed - like changing something with the computer diagnostic.
No I don't think you need to reprogram anything after replacing it. You just need to clear the fault code to turn off the engine warning light. If you don't, or can't, it will likely turn itself off after driving for a few kilometers, once the problem is fixed.
@@screwsnutsandbolts Thanks a lot for help!!
You're welcome !
How long would you recommend leaving it to dry before refitting
Just a few minutes to let the cleaner evaporate and for it to warm up to the ambient temperature.
@@screwsnutsandbolts can’t thank you enough for your videos. I’ve got the fault code p0011 coming up so I have tried this but I noticed one of the mesh parts is missing and stuck further up the solenoid. The car has typical symptoms of high/rough idling very juddery and cuts out sometime a when coming off the gas. Would you recommend changing the solenoid first or maybe start looking at injectors. Once again thank you
From what I read code P0011 is usually associated with the VVT solenoid. Is the broken piece of mesh preventing the solenoid from fully opening and closing ?. I've seen that happen before
Hi, for what reason was this removed and cleaned?
My automatic transmission 2005 K12 sometimes stays in second gear as I’m driving it, I then have to switch off the engine and switch on again and the gearbox is fine, any idea what this can be? I’ve taken the car to 3 mechanics and they plugged in their computer to see what the problem is but no reading codes
Can you please help me resolve this problem, thanks
Ps; your videos is very explanatory
I know very little about automatic transmissions so I can't help you there I'm afraid. This link might be of some use: www.toyotaofmanchesternh.com/automatic-transmission-problems-shifting-gears-manchester-nh/
hello , very informative videos. Can you make a video for injector cleaning for Nissan k12, from unmounted to mount.
Thanks. I don't have the Micra any more, sorry
Hi, i can see that next to the pcv valve you do not have the packing (14033ax600), when i cleaned the pcv valve i could see that that packing was flat and destroyed over time. Do you drive without it?
Which part ?, where exactly in the video ?
@@screwsnutsandbolts 5:20, right next to the pcv valve.
It could have been stuck to the underside of the airbox when I removed it. I don't have the K12 any more so I can't check. I would certainly replace it if it was damaged
I have a 2013 Nissan Micra k13 1.2L. I have owned it from nearly new and it has had regular oil changes. I have an issue with bad pinking when the engine is cold, under acceleration below 3000rpm, and if the aircon gets turned on it is especially bad. Could this be related to a faulty vvt solenoid? The car is at 192,000kms (so long commute each day), it otherwise runs well. Thanks
Pinking is more likely to be caused by poor ignition timing whereas the the vvt controls the valve timing so I don't think it's related. Have you renewed the spark plugs recently ?
@@screwsnutsandbolts I’ve tried changing them for genuine Nissan ones but didn’t improve, I’ve also just replaced this solenoid and no change either. Unsure what else to try?
Hello. I have a check engine light, bought an ob2 reader and code is p1760, it says clutch soleniod problem. Is that what this is please? Thanks a million for the video's 🙏🏼 you make it look very easy and very clear instructions. The playlist will come in very handy 👌🏻
No a clutch solenoid is a very different thing, I think it's part of an automatic transmission
Thanks for the reply and your amazingly informative video's. You have helped me no end of times. Very much appreciated 🙏🏼 👍🏼 👏🏼
I changed my spark plugs 2 days ago and i found cylinder number 4 the one next to the solenoid had oil in it to the top
I tried removing the solenoid it wiggles around but it wont come off
Does it have anything to do with the oil in the cylinder ?
Do you mean oil in the spark plug tube ?. That could be a failed oil seal in the cam cover. I'm not sure about the solenoid, once you remove the bolt it should only be held in place by the rubber seal
@@screwsnutsandbolts is this the same as P1110 code?
@@screwsnutsandbolts yes the oil was in it the coil was full with oil too
Can I get a Samaritan who can advise me ,nissan march cr12 ,when it drives its not speeding up some times it's noisy like inside of the engine, and while driving it stop onthe road upto now just cranking no starting, what is the problem please can someone help me on that problem
I have the same prob, did you get that sorted?
Hello, where is the Micra K12 gasoline recycle valve located, thank you.
Do you mean this one: ruclips.net/video/zBWi9J1rWHE/видео.html
@@screwsnutsandbolts no canister valve
I have the same car when I put water in the radiator. Do I have to remove the air from the radiator when filling it with distilled water or does it have no place to vent the air?
Fill it slowly to allow any air to escape. The manual says to fill it at less than 2 liters per minute.
Hi i have problems in my Micra K12 only in morning it cause rough idling but when it warm dont have any check engine, i diagnose it and it say p1171
That fault code indicates a vacuum leak, possibly between the throttle body and intake manifold
@@screwsnutsandbolts thnx very much but i have checked everything, vaccum tubes, change throttle body, map sensor, camshaft sensor, cleaned the injectors and make it again just in the morning jumping idle p1171, someone told me timming chain, i am really confused what to do please
If you've done all that and still have the issue, I think you'll need to take it to a garage to have it diagnosed by a mechanic, just to be sure
@@endrittoli3464 I’ve got exactly the same issue, checked and replaced everything! With the VVT solenoid unplugged the car runs lovely now but with engine light on (so not actually fixed).
I would like to know the jods The vvti soneloid
What is the symtoms of a defective solenoid valve
Common signs of a clogged or failing VVT valve include a rough engine idle, the check engine light coming on and the engine stumbling when climbing hills or under load.
Merci, je vais le faire cette semaine. J ai exactement ces symptômes
