For the past few years I have been watching your videos reviews and have just now purchased this cam which is my 3rd dash cam so far. (I'll give one of my older ones to my mother because I like how small this one is) I got this one mostly because you your reviews. I have also purchased 2 turntables and started collecting vinyl records because of your influence as well. I'm not trying to sound like I am complaining about what your influence has done to my spending habits but you definitely do have good taste in todays tech and gadgetry. Looks like a cool little dash cam. I like the sound quality so indicators and lights being turned on can be heard (in an accident claim that could be a huge thing.) I wish all dash cam companies would start shipping polarized lenses though. I recently had the high end F750 installed in my vehicle, and well that has lots of issues with glare.
Just received my Vantrue N1 from Amazon. No problem using the discount code. Only real issue so far on my 2016 Mazda3 the mini usb cable is about 3 ft to short to hide properly, also the 12 volt plug on the Mazda is always on. I checked out the usb ports on the Mazda and they do shut down when the ignition is off so I have ordered a 15 ft usb to mini usb cable which should be long enough to hide. Great videos always enjoy seeing the old audio equipment.
The one thing missing (in fact in most of everyone's reviews, not only here) is the camera's ability to withstand extreme temperatures. Living in Israel, I "cause" the camera to be subjected to rather extreme temperatures in the summer. I have not measured it, but I suspect that >70 degrees celsius is not impossible. Now, the simplest test is "does it have a capacitor or a lithium battery" but that is not enough. The question is how the camera body handles the extreme heat - does it degrade and, if so, how gracefully. Many thanks M
Been using this dashcam since ordering it on your recommendation. I can report the camera works great, and has held up to accidentally being left in the sun during 65+°C car interior conditions (I live in a desert). The suction cup, on the other hand, will sometimes give way in such heat. The reassuring mass of the camera becomes a detriment when gravity is pulling it down with the dock in tow. The dock pivot joint has also become loose so I sometimes need to adjust the camera and video now has a permanent Dutch angle applied due to the asymmetrical nature of the mounting.
I just picked up a dash cam from the home shopping network. It was a Polaroid 55 it has tons of decent little features I've only used it a few minutes during the day late so not sure on night shooting. But if you have it in your car and have the motion sensor on if somebody back into your car or it's it in any way it automatically turns the camera on and start recording, it also has a GPS and so as you're driving along not only is it recording to an SD card but it's also recording in tracking on the SD card so you can see where the vehicle has been. I did a short video and will be following up was I set it up and get used to it.

I do quite like this. Small cameras are so much more practical as a dash camera, the less targets people can see from outside of your car the better. I'm very tempted to change my mind and make these the cameras I use for my rear and side cameras on my wagon. Excellent that it has parking mode too, it's an option on quite a lot of cams but some will not work, no matter how it's set up. Good to see a Chinese camera with a nice clean simple menus, as well. Top review again, TM. I'll be sure to say you sent me, should I buy them.

I just bought one of these and should be getting it later today. I was looking for a small dashcam with great quality and after 3 dashcams I'm hoping this will be the one. I'll give you an update.
The only thing I was unhappy with was the mount, but luckily I found a solution. Not only did the mount loosen up considerably in the slightest heat, causing it to swivel freely in traffic and making the whole thing useless, I also hated how I had to realign the cam every time I took it out and put it back into the car. Especially with the small screen. I eventually fixed both problems by simply applying a generous amount of black Sugru around the joint, then aligning the camera within Sugru's 30min setting window (using a small TV attached via HDMI for precision), and leaving it to cure overnight. I can now take the camera in and out any time I want, and it always stays perfectly aligned without any extra action or hassle on my part. Also, I was actually able to remove the fully cured Sugru from the mount using a sharp knife, which I had to do because my first alignment attempt went wrong (which is exactly why I later used the TV 8) ). Be aware however that removal was not residue free. Given that I reapplied Sugru shortly after, and that the mounts are very cheap, I did not care.
Also, great outro music! Somehow it fits perfectly. I noticed the audio even before you mentioned it. If people wonder why it's important, consider a fender-bender not seen by the camera. The audio then becomes very important.
Thanks. Have been in the market for a dashcam for some time. Waiting on the lyfelens to drop, but that's looking more and more like vaporware, and even with the preorder discount, it's $250. But I need something as I drive for Lyft. Ordered a hardware kit with this, as I want to keep it powered all the time, my main 12v outlet already has a triple tap on it. Also got an inline fuse tap so I don't have to go splicing wires (you insert the positive wire into the tap, then plug it into the fuse panel, then you have 2 fuses on that, one for the original circuit, and another for the new one). Now all I need is a backup cam, and I'll be sound as a pound.
@techmoan I got the cam as mentioned, I have got to say the picture quality does not seem nowhere near as good as you had, (yes I have it on the highest res) and the holder is terrible its so loose.

Even at $99 its a pretty decent price compared to some more expensive ones I've seen with not so nice video quality. I downloaded a couple of the clips from the links and they are way nicer than what you see here in this video. I'm thinking about getting one.
Looks like a nice little camera, however The mount looks similar to the Dome G90 which was also a great camera however those suction cups are fairly terrible, Had lots of reports of them failing over time.
Mine has never fallen during normal use, but I once parked my car for a week and accidentally left my dashcam in the window and the daily high of 115° Fahrenheit caused the suction cup to fall off, but it has never fallen any other time.

Well, i ended buying one of these ( some results on my own channel ) BUT i do have four 'gripes' with it. The first being the stupid back to front removal of the camera from it's suction mount - it's far too close to the glass to enable easy removal, would have been far better to pull it towards you to release it , which leads me to gripe number two ! The only easy way to remove the camera is by removing the suction mount entirely - and this mount being plastic sheds a little cover on top of it every time i have do this ( don't think the suction cup or mount will take repeated action of placing/removal for too long a period before it fails completely ) Gripe three: The camera itself gets far too hot in operation of extended periods to do it much good - i am not expecting a very long or reliable life from it because of this fact alone. Finally, i almost forgot to mention the video flaring from driving in sunlight if the camera 'see's' the sun - there is a horrible red dot which is the result of the semi wide angle lens which introduces lens flare ( pity there isn't a hood for it ! ) Those gripes aside: the camera produces a good video ( although i have noticed some colour casting in shadow/bright light. The video is clear and useful as is the sound reproduction, so all in all, not bad at this juncture.

I still think the mobious is the best dash cam...I use it all the time day and night ...it's so small it's virtually Un noticeable from the exterior of the car......plus the battery is very good....
Something I'd like with a small dashcam would be an adhesive mounting bracket. I'm not the kind of person who takes the dashcam with me and mounts the dashcam every time I go driving. I want a dashcam that I can leave in the car and forget about it, and be small so it isn't very visible when the car is parked, and it defeats the purpose of having a small dashcam when the mounting hardware is at the size of Mt. Everest. Another reason I don't like suction mounts particularly well is because they have a tendency to fall down, which triggers the alarm in my car. I would like to see more dashcams with an adhesive mounting system, and if you're reading this and you plan on sending a wishlist to any dashcam manufacture, it would be great if you could include this. I think it would be better if the light alloy (?) parts were black. I can't think of any reason one would want the camera to be more visible. A duct-tape solution would be a bit of an eye-sore. Other than that, it looks like a great performer.

I do love your reviews. Have you considered reviewing dash cam app for android/iPhone systems? Since some can use some solid cameras and upload to Facebook/RUclips during a crash instance automatically. In the US the cops are rather bad about just taking whatever they want and they decide if they want to give it back so this app protects the person from corrupt cops we have....trust me, I've seen a lot of bad cops here and films a number of them.

Techmoan. Have you ever thought of a kick starter campaign for a design of a "perfect" Dashcam?. I used perfect advisedly of course, but a camera with all the things you and your viewers would like in a camera. I dont know how much it might cost, but the case could be 3d printed, and perhaps the guts and interfaces could be off shelf. Im not sure if there is any open source dash cam software which could be the on screen interface. Im suprised no one else has done it.
Having received my first dashcam, I took it out, got it to format the SD card so I could install the firmware update and, unfortunately, I can't get the SD card to pop out, it's locked in place no matter which way i press it! It's a sad day... :(
I bought this camera a few months ago which was available in the UK for £12 and it has the same menu? the rattle on my camera was the buttons loose in the case which i fixed by putting sticky tape over them my dash cam videos are on my channel and are pretty good for a cheap dash cam...

I installed my Vantrue N1 yesterday. Today I was about to drive and give it its first test when I found it on the floor. The suction cup leaves something to be desired, yet it held all during the drive. I do get the stuttering video, and the resolution doesn't seem all that good. Maybe I'll try it with HDR off.

Hi. As usual a great, honest, down to earth review. My query is about cameras for motorcycles. I'm in the market for one as I'm going motorbiking around Germany in late July. I already have the 'Scarla 9x' Bluetooth audio setup for my sat nav and phone so I'm looking for something low profile on my helmet. I don't want a Go-Pro so in your opinion which one should I get. If it helps I have a budget of £250 maybe more if it's worth it.
Would buy if it had a capacitor instead of battery. Dont like em with the battery as I leave it plugged in 24 hours to record and batteries get hot and explode. Its happened to me so maybe recommend to the manufacturer to make a capacitor version?

Hello. UBER driver here. I'm looking for a Dash Cam that protects me and my riders from any possible scenario... however, I'd like to find a In car Cam system with 4X (yes four) cameras. Two setup from front dash, while two set up from rear dash. Obviously both would have 2 inside facing cameras providing an unparalleled view of the inside of car, with one camera capturing the faces of all passengers, while the other is capturing inside video from behind the passengers, capturing views the front camera alone would not capture. These two interior cameras would further cover the blindspots of the vehicle from two angles, again with unparalleled coverage. Finally the two would have one camera facing out the cront, and one camera facing out the back, for much clearer views compared to just having 1 duel. With just the 1 duel camera, the inside camera covers the rear but everything outside the vehicle from the rear is viewed from so far away, with much of the view blocked by the inside of vehicle. However, with 2x duel cameras, the inside back would provide back round scene of the rear, while the rear outside camera provides closer up clear view what's outside. Same facing the front. The rear inside camera would also cover the front outside as a back round view, while the front camera outside would provide an upclose view what happening in front of car.. I can't find any quad camera car Cam system. If I go buy two separate duel cam systems, they won't integrate into one complete viewing to see all 4 views same time. Further, most duel camera systems have a screen, so buying two of those puts a screen on the rear duel camera, doesn't need one, and would be distracting for driver seeing the rearview mirror. The ONLY solution is if the manufacturing co of a camera would develop a quad camera car Cam system with all 4x integrated into one system. Further developing this system with GPS a g sensing, so watching the recording, you see a separate view of GPS map showing where car traveling as cam system recording, as well as a stat screen showing speeds, breaking, and at what point on GPS map any first impact occurs... Thanks... Please keep me in mind if recommending this idea to a company. I'd appreciate some recognition. If this idea has already been developed, please direct me where I could find it.

I know that this isn't the point of this video but it's something I've always wondered. @ 7:40 what do the /\/\/\/\/\/\ lines on the street mean? Is it a yield indication? a warning that an intersection or crosswalk is coming up? what?
we have DAB+ in australia, it's awsome, except every dash cam i've tried causes a massive reduction in range. they seem to function near the frequency of the dab streams (Band 3 , 230-250mhz) I've had to resort to wrapping my current camera in aluminium foil and grounding it -
i wish, anything with a processor or timer in it , emits noise, this noise is picked up by the antenna on the roof of my car, from the camera thats mounted on the windscreen. thats a distance about the size of a hand. it's not the 5v supply or cable, checked those. by pulling the lighter plug, the camera takes 5 seconds to shut down, once shut down, reception returns. wrapping it in foil with a small flap for the lcd was the only option i could think of,that worked
i've tried both actually, even as far as one from a usb hard disk. the test i did to determine it was the camera was to remove the usb cable from the camera and wait for the camera to shut down (5 - 10 seconds) after which the signal was restored to the radio 0

Even at $99 its a pretty decent price compared to some more expensive ones I've seen with not so nice video quality. I downloaded a couple of the clips from the links and they are way nicer than what you see here in this video. I'm thinking about getting one.

Looks like a nice little camera, however The mount looks similar to the Dome G90 which was also a great camera however those suction cups are fairly terrible, Had lots of reports of them failing over time.
Mine has never fallen during normal use, but I once parked my car for a week and accidentally left my dashcam in the window and the daily high of 115° Fahrenheit caused the suction cup to fall off, but it has never fallen any other time.
I had a cheap dash cam with a dodgy suction cap. A light smear of Vaseline (Petroleum Jelly} will stick like glue.

I just ordered one. I should note that the promo code is applied only once, so only the first camera you order is discounted. I was going to order two, but will wait and see if I can order a second using the code again.
Well, i ended buying one of these ( some results on my own channel ) BUT i do have four 'gripes' with it. The first being the stupid back to front removal of the camera from it's suction mount - it's far too close to the glass to enable easy removal, would have been far better to pull it towards you to release it , which leads me to gripe number two !
The only easy way to remove the camera is by removing the suction mount entirely - and this mount being plastic sheds a little cover on top of it every time i have do this ( don't think the suction cup or mount will take repeated action of placing/removal for too long a period before it fails completely ) Gripe three:
The camera itself gets far too hot in operation of extended periods to do it much good - i am not expecting a very long or reliable life from it because of this fact alone.
Finally, i almost forgot to mention the video flaring from driving in sunlight if the camera 'see's' the sun - there is a horrible red dot which is the result of the semi wide angle lens which introduces lens flare ( pity there isn't a hood for it ! )
Those gripes aside: the camera produces a good video ( although i have noticed some colour casting in shadow/bright light. The video is clear and useful as is the sound reproduction, so all in all, not bad at this juncture.

I still think the mobious is the best dash cam...I use it all the time day and night ...it's so small it's virtually Un noticeable from the exterior of the car......plus the battery is very good....
Something I'd like with a small dashcam would be an adhesive mounting bracket. I'm not the kind of person who takes the dashcam with me and mounts the dashcam every time I go driving. I want a dashcam that I can leave in the car and forget about it, and be small so it isn't very visible when the car is parked, and it defeats the purpose of having a small dashcam when the mounting hardware is at the size of Mt. Everest. Another reason I don't like suction mounts particularly well is because they have a tendency to fall down, which triggers the alarm in my car.
I would like to see more dashcams with an adhesive mounting system, and if you're reading this and you plan on sending a wishlist to any dashcam manufacture, it would be great if you could include this. Thank you

I think it would be better if the light alloy (?) parts were black. I can't think of any reason one would want the camera to be more visible. A duct-tape solution would be a bit of an eye-sore. Other than that, it looks like a great performer.

I do love your reviews. Have you considered reviewing dash cam app for android/iPhone systems? Since some can use some solid cameras and upload to Facebook/RUclips during a crash instance automatically. In the US the cops are rather bad about just taking whatever they want and they decide if they want to give it back so this app protects the person from corrupt cops we have....trust me, I've seen a lot of bad cops here and films a number of them.
Its a "dash cam war" between Mr. Techmoan & Mr. Iftibashir. And in the US they are no big deal. I guess old, bad roads and too many cars in "Europe" makes them hot items. Can't wait for the next potato peeler, fryer, omlet, hot dawg, ice cream counter top maker.

Techmoan. Have you ever thought of a kick starter campaign for a design of a "perfect" Dashcam?. I used perfect advisedly of course, but a camera with all the things you and your viewers would like in a camera. I dont know how much it might cost, but the case could be 3d printed, and perhaps the guts and interfaces could be off shelf. Im not sure if there is any open source dash cam software which could be the on screen interface. Im suprised no one else has done it.
+Video Master I'd prefer to leave that amount of hassle to other people. I wouldn't have a clue what to do and it would go horribly financially wrong.

Having received my first dashcam, I took it out, got it to format the SD card so I could install the firmware update and, unfortunately, I can't get the SD card to pop out, it's locked in place no matter which way i press it! It's a sad day... :(

I bought this camera a few months ago which was available in the UK for £12 and it has the same menu? the rattle on my camera was the buttons loose in the case which i fixed by putting sticky tape over them my dash cam videos are on my channel and are pretty good for a cheap dash cam...

I installed my Vantrue N1 yesterday. Today I was about to drive and give it its first test when I found it on the floor. The suction cup leaves something to be desired, yet it held all during the drive. I do get the stuttering video, and the resolution doesn't seem all that good. Maybe I'll try it with HDR off.

Hi. As usual a great, honest, down to earth review. My query is about cameras for motorcycles. I'm in the market for one as I'm going motorbiking around Germany in late July. I already have the 'Scarla 9x' Bluetooth audio setup for my sat nav and phone so I'm looking for something low profile on my helmet. I don't want a Go-Pro so in your opinion which one should I get. If it helps I have a budget of £250 maybe more if it's worth it.
Would buy if it had a capacitor instead of battery. Dont like em with the battery as I leave it plugged in 24 hours to record and batteries get hot and explode. Its happened to me so maybe recommend to the manufacturer to make a capacitor version?
Bought one after watching wish I hadn't been nothing but trouble keeps turning off after awhile have to keep on plugging and plugging it back in when setting up it would not select the right date or time

Hello. UBER driver here. I'm looking for a Dash Cam that protects me and my riders from any possible scenario... however, I'd like to find a In car Cam system with 4X (yes four) cameras. Two setup from front dash, while two set up from rear dash. Obviously both would have 2 inside facing cameras providing an unparalleled view of the inside of car, with one camera capturing the faces of all passengers, while the other is capturing inside video from behind the passengers, capturing views the front camera alone would not capture. These two interior cameras would further cover the blindspots of the vehicle from two angles, again with unparalleled coverage. Finally the two would have one camera facing out the cront, and one camera facing out the back, for much clearer views compared to just having 1 duel.
With just the 1 duel camera, the inside camera covers the rear but everything outside the vehicle from the rear is viewed from so far away, with much of the view blocked by the inside of vehicle. However, with 2x duel cameras, the inside back would provide back round scene of the rear, while the rear outside camera provides closer up clear view what's outside. Same facing the front. The rear inside camera would also cover the front outside as a back round view, while the front camera outside would provide an upclose view what happening in front of car..
I can't find any quad camera car Cam system. If I go buy two separate duel cam systems, they won't integrate into one complete viewing to see all 4 views same time. Further, most duel camera systems have a screen, so buying two of those puts a screen on the rear duel camera, doesn't need one, and would be distracting for driver seeing the rearview mirror.
The ONLY solution is if the manufacturing co of a camera would develop a quad camera car Cam system with all 4x integrated into one system. Further developing this system with GPS a g sensing, so watching the recording, you see a separate view of GPS map showing where car traveling as cam system recording, as well as a stat screen showing speeds, breaking, and at what point on GPS map any first impact occurs...

They only appear near a traffic light controlled pedestrian crossing. They mean you are not allowed to park on them.

Sort of but not quite. There are separate parking restrictions, but the zig zag is like a blanket "no parking at any time" restriction.

I know that this isn't the point of this video but it's something I've always wondered. @ 7:40 what do the /\/\/\/\/\/\ lines on the street mean? Is it a yield indication? a warning that an intersection or crosswalk is coming up? what?
we have DAB+ in australia, it's awsome, except every dash cam i've tried causes a massive reduction in range. they seem to function near the frequency of the dab streams (Band 3 , 230-250mhz)

i wish, anything with a processor or timer in it , emits noise, this noise is picked up by the antenna on the roof of my car, from the camera thats mounted on the windscreen. thats a distance about the size of a hand.
it's not the 5v supply or cable, checked those.
by pulling the lighter plug, the camera takes 5 seconds to shut down, once shut down, reception returns.
wrapping it in foil with a small flap for the lcd was the only option i could think of,that worked

i've tried both actually, even as far as one from a usb hard disk. the test i did to determine it was the camera was to remove the usb cable from the camera and wait for the camera to shut down (5 - 10 seconds) after which the signal was restored to the radio 0

@Techmoan I've just purchased a vantrue N1 and using a hardwire kit however, the power supply I'm using is constant so it ends up recording permanently
I'd be curious to see how the motion detection/parking mode works. E.g. is it worth bothering with?
