Yeah until they develop a way to make more money from its users. Then the service shuts down in “corporate rework” to save money and increase profits for its shareholders. No business actually ever gives you anything for free. Making you sign in with an Amazon account just gives them a lot of user data by connecting your purchase history and viewing history. Once they find a way to increase their income they will take that opportunity
Have you noticed it's also impossible to record anything from the tv or streaming service now, because tv's have only "video and audio" IN and not OUT, and nothing you can get streaming services on have an OUT option. I used to record frequently because I was working or unavailable to watch something. I guess now they figure you can stream anytime, but not always.
HUMAX hard disk recorder boxes allow you to record from freeview / freesat, if you have a more modern version with smart it may allow other content (Guessing for that bit)
there are ways around that. even if a tv only has input, you can use another tv and a vcr as a pass through device to record things from the first tv. granted it would greatly diminish picture and audio quality to not much higher than a vhs cassete, but it still works. also, they have devices you can buy that connect straight from a laptop/desktop to a tv you can use to record directly from 1 to the other, but those are generally more expensive.
The free on-demand content on Freevee could be rebranded as a free viewing tier of Prime Video. They just change the name of it and still offer it for free. We will have to wait and see if that is what they do. This would be like the free tier of Peacock that was offered until 2023 when they removed it. The only problem with that is that Amazon could pull the same stunt after a period of time.
I miss file sharing but found that about half of the stuff was garbage by shitheads mislabeling things. Who needed a dozen copies of Spice World when you wanted Spider-Man? The trick was finding personal ftp sites and servers to share stuff.
There are two shows that are to come to Freevee in the near future: Leverage Redemption season 4(I believe) and soon to be announced Star Gate SG1 6 months after its return to Prime. Ir just doesn't make any sense...
I always trashed them because the content wasn't great and never migrated Man from UNCLE episodes to Freevee. But is is a play to cut costs/raise ad revenue income to pay for new Stargate series, works for me.

Too bad firestick is not allowing sideloading any more there are alot of free apps you could get that has every episode of anything you would like to watch.
I pay for no-ads on Amazon not because I hate ads there a catch. If you buy streaming content Movies or TV Shows in 4k you will not be able to stream them in 4k if you choose ads. I am not talking about videos you can watch with your monthly fee. These are Movies you own or are allowed to watch until you die or Amazon takes away.
This is the same reason I have separate subscriptions for Disney HBO, Max and Hulu instead of the bundle they offer. If you get that bundle and go for the ad free version, you lose 4K streaming on HBO Max.
The fragmentation of streaming services will just cause people to pirate, its what happenend in the 90/2000s and it will occur again. The only real reason pirating dropped was due to the introduction of streaming making it unviable for users to do it anymore, this will force back its return.
You would think that but most younger people have no idea how to use anything that isn’t an app. I bet few have ever used anything aside from a phone/ tablet, a gaming system, or a chrome book that is nothing more than a glorified tablet. I remember building computers, using scripts to get programs to work, installing W95 off floppies, 5.5 and 3.5 inch and Zip floppies, dial up, when MP3 were new tech, file sharing … some of us could do it but the tech companies and media companies have dumbed everything down to the point most people couldn’t use old tech if they had to. It’s like photography. I could still buy a 100ft roll of film, divide it into canisters of 24 images, load it into a 35mm camera, know which lenses to use for various settings, f stop,… and all the way to using a darkroom to develop and print the pictures. Now anyone with a phone can take a reasonable point and click. No skill needed. No talent. But it’s easy.
@@tstuff If there is a strong enough need for it young people will learn the same as all my generation did. I agree though that technology as its advanced has been dumbed down and made more basic which in a lot of ways has regressed young peoples IT skills compared to prior generations.

I remember when Amazon was just a book seller about 25 years ago.
Pre-pandemic streaming was AWESOME. Netflix really was the digital ‘Blockbuster’. All studios in a single place.
100% we forgot how cheap and great it was
All studios? are you sure? Netflix was always limited, it was never a place that had "everything". Maybe a Mandella effect explain's it.

I love Freevee I use it everyday not to many adds that’s why I love them.I won’t pay for adds at all.
fair!@
They wouldn't DARE take Pluto away....
I already pay a prime membership.. No way will I sign up for anymore services from Amazon.
Paid streaming is dies due they keep upinhmg their prices
Streaming corporations on the race... DOWN... as fast as they possibly can...
Maybe…. But what’s the alternative for folks? The reality is majority of people won’t go online to find content. People like ease in their life
Recently Pluto tv was sold so paramount doesn’t own it anymore but the details are not fully known yet to know exactly who bought it exactly
Pluto TV is available on the 10 Network in Australia (10 Play app) which is owned by Paramount Global.
