I've been using All For Reef for about 18 months now. I started to notice my corals were not looking quite as healthy as I thought they should be, given my test results for Ca, Alk, Mg, No3, Po4 and weekly water changes. I just felt as though something maybe missing even though I am using All For Reef. I sent out a water sample on Dec. 8th. When I received my test results from ATI. I have 3 elements that came back as below normal and one critically low. They were Potassium, Manganese & Iodine was critically low. the test also showed high levels as well. So I sat down and made a list of what I dose to the tank. I use Instant Ocean Reef Crystals, All for Reef and Chaeto Gro from Brightwell Aquatics. I compared the listed elements for All for Reef and Chaeto Gro. I found that I am dosing some redundant elements. I have decided to discontinue the Chaeto Gro and to supplement the three elements that are low and wait about a month for the tank to settle out before sending out another ICP test kit. I just received my ATI trace elements when I got home last night and added a small dose of each. I also bought a trace element home test kit from Red Sea. The only thing I can't test for is the Manganese. So I only want to add a small amount of Manganese and verify my adjustments with another ICP test kit. While looking at the elements All for Reef does contain, I noticed that it does NOT contain Potassium (I am not sure why? Chemistry compatibility?) and even though the All for Reef does contain Iodine & Manganese my corals are consuming these elements faster than my water changes and daily dosage of All for Reef can supply. Just thought I would share my findings and I hope it may help someone else along the way. Moral of the story, Don't just rely on the All for Reef to supply everything because it can't. It can only supply what the mix has in it and cannot compensate for coral consumption.
I had the same issue with using AFR on my 210G , Did some research and asking some other reefers question. I made the switch to 2L ATI Essentials Pro - Complete Reef Supplement Set and way better results. All my corals are looking and growing better.
@@Soldier4life1999 That is very interesting, because while I was shopping for the trace elements and came across the ATI products. I took a look at the Essentials pro and have been considering the possibility of switching to the Essentials Pro. Out of curiosity how much are you using daily? Do you use the Nutrition products as well?
@ it took me about a month to correctly dial the dose in according to my tanks Needs but it’s been running smooothly at : Dosing ATI Part 1&2 starting from 9am to 4Pm at 2ml Every Hour on the Hour for PART1.. Then 5 mins later Dose PART2 , Then at 0100 at 2ml Both PART 1&2 (Auto Dose) Zero issues. 210G is Thriving and Everything is looking great.
hi, my doser, on the another end, there is always air bubble, causing it not dose accurately. any tips on this? do i need to place doser higher than the tank or?
@@kevin916587 When you are initially filling up the dosing lines you should flick the lines coming to and from the dosing head. Often times bubbles get trapped in there, basically try to run more liquid through your lines while flicking all the bubbles out.
Kalkwasser in the ato or dosed and magnesium chloride is probably the easiest beginner method. Plus you get a higher pH which will effect the chemistry of everything else positvely. With that much water volume and small coral mass you might end up with elevated trace elements.
Test everyday to get started so you know what to dose, but now I test mostly alkalinity once every couple days to make sure things are stable. When I go on vacation I just rely on my automatic doser!
@@SaltwaterTherapyTVokay, I’ve been debating salt water tanks because of the fear of going on a 7 day vacation and coming back and the tank is dead. I figured I couldn’t rely on friends to understand either if they are not in the hobby. I’ve had fresh water tanks before and they are pretty easy. So you’re saying there’s a world where I can go on vacation for a week with a salt water tank and not have to rely on anyone?
I would say if you have an auto top off for evaporation and a doser for your corals, you can get by with doing zero maintenance for a week so long as you have someone come over to feed your fish every few days. Now obv this isn’t what you’re going to do every week, but one week of neglect every now and again of is not the end of the world.
That's one beautiful tank mate
Thank you I’m glad you think so! I appreciate you watching
Very informative
I switched over to all for reef about 6 months ago and I find that it is very easy compared to using multiple things.
That’s awesome I’m happy to hear it’s working out for you, I couldn’t agree more!
