The DLC, while rather short, was really enjoyable! I think the only thing that really disappointed me, was the fact, that there was no song-lyrics in the fights when you would fuse. Which was something that made this fights in particular like something was missing. But that's just a small petpeeves from my part. I love many of the new Monster designs and I hope there will be new stuff added at some point in the future, since CB has a lot of potencial for that!
Yeah, I missed the lyrics too, but I think that they probably either didn’t have the funds or wanted to focus on later content. I mean, they already got a new voice actor for gwen, plus all the new creature designs, stickers, etc, all of which has their own seperate animations. Still thought it was a great dlc tho haha
I think that while maybe the final boss and the base enemy battles could’ve had lyrics, the “other bosses” (to keep this comment spoiler-free) make sense lyricless to show the animalistic nature of the bosses
Agreed, the dlc was just enough to make me really REALLY want more. I would love a full sized expansion pack (maybe to come out alongside the multi-player update?)
Many people on the discord/steam reviews were seemingly quite disappointed about the dlc being either too easy for their 4 months in the making team, or that it was too short for 6 dollars. It's not a post-game dungeon, it unlocks in the mid-game. But you can easily stomp in this game if you just know how. Same ppl who say it's too easy, would've called it too difficult had they cheeseproofed every fight. Definitely leave a positive review on steam for the dlc if you feel like you want to see more, because dlcs in seem to get much lower ratings compared to their base games. I found the quality of the content to be even higher than base game, and it's impressive a 2 person team can out this much new content in just a few months. Only thing im missing was a bit more QA and vocals for the new tracks.
My personal gripe is that it doesn't unlock earlier, so you can't use the new monsters right away. I have the same complaint with dlc weapons in souls games - I'd prefer the dlc areas to be available from pretty much the start of the game.
I felt like there wasn't quite enough content for the price, I completed everything including 5 starring all the new monsters in less than 3.5 hours compared to the 70 hours I spent in the base game. In my regional price ($10.25) it was only slightly cheaper than the Resident Evil 4 Remake DLC ($14.24) which I currently have 12.5 hours in and still haven't completed all the challenges. I don't mind paying a little more than I think it warranted since we got that free update and the upcoming free multiplayer update but I hope the next DLC/expansion has a bit more content for the price. I'd also love a chunky expansion with more story content but I know its probably not feasible for them.
I managed to purchase the DLC for about $5.00-$6.00 on the Nintendo E-Shop so for my experience I felt like I got some good bang for my buck. Did feel like they could have added a bit more beast though as the catacombs update gave a fairly equal amount of beast and that was for free, then again the archangel fight kinda cancels it out
fun little thing about charlequin, i’m pretty sure it has unique behaviour in comparison to other overworld monsters. a good amount of the time, it’ll just start following you around. not like the usual chasing you down to battle, it’s just following you like your partner does. and i think that’s funny. also i ran into an ice bootleg charlequin mere moments after catching my first non-bootleg one, which was hilariously timed, and also lines up with my recent pokemon dlc experience where within five minutes of going in the right direction i suddenly ran into a shiny yanma. funny how that works!
Honestly while a little short I really enjoyed this dlc,as stated before I love a lot of the monster designs and the whole area esthetic I really vibed with. I do wish that the battles had lyrics while fused but other than that I love this game and have had more fun playing it than I ever have playing pokemon.
I consider to give the game a chance in a nixe discount, part due the price diff, part that not everything convinced me at all, but I'm intrigued with the twists with types weakness changes, but I do have a problem with games with low animations, the battle looks pretty static in almost all monster taming games, barely have a reaction animation when taking damage, it doesn't need to be anything complex, those basic animations are really important to me in any game
I’m excited to get to this. What I really cannot stand is the level people hold indie devs too. $6 for this is not bad at all. Go hold the big devs to these standards. They’re the ones overcharging and underdelivering.
I find it crazy how I've been called hypocritical for being vocal about the Dex cut because nexomon didnt have transferring. Like imagine comparing the already established multi billion dollar franchise to a small indie game
@@GymLeaderEd there’s another great indie game that is getting judged far too fucking harsh. A CRPG called Gedonia. It’s $15-$20 for an open world rpg made by ONE. FUCKING. MAN. And people whine about jank and spelling errors. HOLD BETHEADA TO THIS STANDARD! Or CD Projekt Red! He’s announced a sequel and I’m happy for the guy that he’s able to have a small team helping him. Indie devs having been carrying gaming for almost a decade now. They give interesting games, try new things for a fraction of the price. I’m not saying be a welcome mat; but don’t hold these small or even single person teams to impossible standards that you won’t hold billion dollar corps to.
Looks like a nice addon, I need to get back to finishing the main game first though haha. Btw if you're looking for new Monster Tamers, Touhou Artifical Dream in Arcadia came out not long ago, it's basically a retro SMT1/2 style dungeon crawler but with enchancements to make it more playable. It's honestly been a blast and I think it's better than even some of the new SMTs
I liked the dlc. I think it was worth it alone for the number of new monsters. Especially compared to pokemon dlc charging almost the price of a new game and only adding a few new monsters.
I think the DLC was fun and worth the price, but I do wish they would add some more postgame activities like a Battle Tower or something similar. They definitely excelled in the new monster designs. The DLC as a whole was just not a masterpiece like the base game is though. I also felt like the story was kind of...idk forced? I felt like the story in the main game was done so well and felt oddly realistic if that somehow makes any sense, but I felt like this leaned into being too unbelieveable like with the rowing boat and no one making mention of it before or people disappearing to a far off island. It just kind of comes out of nowhere and feels very detatched. Without getting into spoilers its hard to describe why it just doesnt really work. The new environments though are fantastic.
@@GymLeaderEd She just has the usual options to talk to her. Nothing about the Pier. Do I need to make a certain amount of progress through the main game? I am Level 52 and beat 8 Captains and I believe 4 Archangels.

I just love how they created machine curse specially to stop khepri nukes from destroying all the bosses
the final Archangel fight was pretty hard for me, not sure why people say it's too easy, I struggled quite a bit
@@Moonshine568 yeah I actually had trouble with the fight

Charlequin honestly could pull off being a bootleg of any type without the colors making it look weird unlike other Beasts
@@Moonshine568 i mean it does get Prismatic, so they had to make sure.

They are making a second cassette beast game to add the beasts numbers.
hour and a half? that sounds longer than the pokemon DLC

I honestly had trouble with the final boss of the dlc machine curse stopped any nukes so I had to actually try

If they added new evolutions they would have just made it free DLC which they have done before, so no new evolutions of old monsters makes sense
*THROWS MONEY AT CASSETTE BEASTS DEVS* ILL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK
Got a question about the DLC, where do I go to get to the DLC area cuse I can not find it AT ALL.
go talk to the lady in the cafe! the game should give you a prompt to do so if it's properly installed when you boot it up.
