I saw this production at the Shubert Theater in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1966. Vivian Leigh died of tuberculosis, which she first contracted in 1944, the following year. It's slightly creepy that the character she plays in Ivanov is also seriously ill with tuberculosis. She was living with John Merivale, the actor who plays Lvov, at the time of her death.
The English predecessor of this with Yvonne Mitchell outstanding as Anna and Claire Bloom as Sasha but still with Gielgud and Roland Culver was televised at the time. DOES ANYONE HAVE A COPY TO UPLOAD??? A real treasure.
The best actrees and the most beautiful in history, Vivien Leigh🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
What a very great and brave Lady!
