French Justice Minister Eric Dupond-Moretti meets with prison guards' unions the day after two prison officers were killed in an attack on a prison van at a toll booth in Normandy. The unions are calling for "a drastic reduction in prison transport by promoting the use of videoconferencing by judges or their travel to prisons."

I can only assume the low level security to move the escapee was deliberate as clearly, if they didn’t want him to be able to escape the guards would have been in an armoured van with armed guards….
