  • 93 S-10 has taken a turn again. Stalls at idle and coast. Found the idle control valve to be gummed up and a bad connector. Still runs like garbage. On to the EGR and throttle body gasket.

    I just bought a 1991 S10 with the 2.8l . Wouldn't start, but would run good for 2-3 seconds on starting fluid. So fire is good, fuel delivery Not good. Ended up finding no power to fuel pump. No Oil Pressure switch on Oil filter housing. Wires to it totally missing. Ran a switch wire off of fuse box to pump. Had power and still no fuel. Took out fuel pump. Hose between pump and hard fuel pipe Desenegrated. Bought a new fuel pump. Got it started, yeah. Tuneup next day, Plugs, wires, cap, rotor and Coil. Helped but not perfect enough. Have two new injectors coming in today. We will see. Iron girl , just replace remaining items, if everything else is changed out. Trucks this old need new parts. Cheaper than bringing it in. But sometimes, it is best, so you do not go nuts over it.

    So my 89 2.8 sat for 4 years. I did everything you did finally gave up and took it to a shop they had it for over 2 months. They finally figured out the my ecu was bad the ordered a new one and now it runs great.

      I think you meant the ECM(Electronic Control Module). Located under the dash. But, if you replace this with a new one , you have to take the PROM(Programmable Read Only Memory) chip out of your old ECM and install it in your new one. The PROM is vehicle specific while the ECM is not. Chapter 6 section 4 in a Haynes Manual will walk you through this process if you decide to go that route. Good luck🙂

    Put the air cleaner back on and started up and get a water hose reel low and put water around the throttle body and around the hoses you will find the leak

    I'll tell you what's wrong with you. I got in 1993 series. Send the same thing. Is the sensor inside the distributor cap? As a little piece in there, it goes bad once a year and all of them. Check it, put a new one in there. And then you won't have no more problems. With it period try it out at work.

    Its Ohio salt state. YOur using ordinary crimp butt connectors, while those are fine for inside the cab, they dont provide protection from the salt elements.........Use crimp and seal butt connectors in engine compartment so you wont be redoing the corroded connections later....

      I changed the computer but still didn’t resolve it. Went back to basics and the cap and button were burnt, so changed those out. Still same junk, so changed the ignition control module and it cleared up. I think one of the harness plugs worked it’s way loss but couldn’t tell you for sure since I didn’t pay that close attention when I was changing out the module. Good luck with your’s.

    • @zundfolge1432
      @zundfolge1432 Год назад

      If factory, they moved the O2 sensor from manifold pipe to past the Y part of the pipe.........unless somehow somebody deleted the O2 sensor. Deleted O2 sensor will turn on the engine light and make it run in open loop.

      INNOVA 3123 GM OBD1 Code Reader. You can get it off Amazon for $27. Some of the local auto parts stores will have them as well. It will not read the OBD2 Chevys. So confirm which connector you have. Thanks for the question. 👍🏻

      @@oldirongirl good deal,, I'm interested in this. Mine is an '88 2.8, it's always bumbled 'n stumbled & intermittenly died right off idle. I've had it about 6 years and played the "throw money at it game". I hate sensors. It still does it. I bought a HEI distributor and two barrel carburetor but haven't had time to switch it all out yet.
