@ghost mall The early synthwave artists like Kavinsky are the ones who deserve the credit for reinterpreting the style first. It was just picked up on by savvy mainstream pop music producers. Not a complaint though because the style rules and they've done a good job with it in the mainstream. CRJ's album Emotion is a must listen if you like that style.
The US pushes what's profitable, and what's profitable is low quality.

I gotta tell you... I've been listening to Tegan and Sara since I was 13. I'm now 36 🙃. Time flies. Been through it all with them. I even got to be in one of their music videos as an extra 🥰🥰🥰 I've met them a few times, always sweeps me off my feet. I remember sitting down on a bus and Sara was one seat over. I was 17 and obviously made a huge ass of myself 🤣

It depends on where you live ! In Sydney, there a 2 really good stations: I06.5 and 107.3. Here in Port Stephen it's even better with 105.9. You cannot damn all Australia for your region ;-)

Andrew Haym Sorry man but I've listened to both of them and while they have similar styles, The opening progression is quite different from one another. Music industry plagiarism is nearly impossible to get away with. It's scrutinized by the copyright industry before it's ever released and then by laywers as well. If it was Plagiarism, Roxette would've sued by now. Alot of artist pay Homage to older bands and there are so many chords. Sounds are bound to resurface. Locked out of Heaven sounds like the Police, Madness sound like George Michael's - Faith.

this album was such a surprise. The Con is one of my favorite albums. I heard this was a lot different. It's full of pop anthems that pull on your heartstrings. Especially, for anyone who has ever fallen in love. Such a great record and proof that sometimes bands can change drastically and still be excellent.

This is one of those songs I've heard on the radio a zillion times while randomly driving, or only half paying attention. Over time I've come to love it and it took me awhile to realize it was Tegan & Sara, a duo who have put out some good songs over the years. And then I just realized that they are Canadian, which makes them even more awesome in my books!
I feel stupid for not paying more attention to these girls earlier. I guess that is the price you pay for largely ignoring mainstream music and not really paying attention to those few artists you hear on the radio, you miss out on the occasional great artist.

Heard this song on awkward when jenna and matty kissed, instantly fell in love with it. Had it on repeat for literally like many months. And this was like around 7 years ago. 7 years later today, I see that these two girls are on the late with Lilly show, I got reminded of a song that I had completely forgotten about. Listened to it...still as good as the first time.
I tend to be more of a classic rock fan, and a fan of all sorts of "old" music from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, but I have to admit that my faith in modern music is restored. I recently discovered this song and I think it is among the best songs of the 21st century so far, absolutely briljant, with great singing and instrumentation. Can't stop listening to it.
