I wasn't an addict but I had anxiety, stressed out. I dropped out at least three times from highschool. I know my highschool wasn't perfect but I really wished I tried harder to make friends and in my education. Maybe my life could have been different. I am a 73 year old man and I love this song! This reminds me of peer group pressure! I was not a cool kid! Found this by accident here.
I'm 72 and have very clear memories of the "cool kids". But time has a way of correcting things...the cool kids
are now old, fat and bald. I'm sure they would enjoy dancing to this song...if only their arthritis would permit.
Keep in mind if they were unattractive, this song will not sell! 99 percent of the uncool kids are unattractive and not accepted into cool crowds, something this band does not have! Also, songs from the 60s and 70s are better than songs from today.

This song has a great message for everyone. It's okay not to fit in. Find your passion and your voice. Just be yourself. I was awkward and shy when I was in high school. I joined clubs just to try and fit in. Most of the time I was very unhappy. Then I went to university, and I started to feel more confident. I completed my studies, found my soulmate, and got a job in my field. Meanwhile, I found out that some of the cool kids from high school got left behind. Some of them did drugs and couldn't find happiness.
Trust me, your life will take a turn for the better if you just believe in yourself. Find a few good friends to help you get through the uncertainties of life.
