What is your number 1 reason for buying a larger adventure motorcycle?
I’ve owned several large ADVENTURE bikes, I’m a above average rider but I don’t do anything technical, I ride dirt roads and asphalt roads the big adventure bike is perfect easy to handle, maneuver, comfortable, there’s a lot of reasons why,I have smaller bikes and they are good for more technical riding.
Bravo, you nailed it. I just sold my Victory Bagger because I am a mid 6 footer and about 270lbs. I use my motorcycle for everything including running down dirt farm roads to visit friends. The Victory just isn't designed for that. I bought an R1200GSA and love it. Compared to my Victory it feels as light as a motor scooter and is effortless to move around, not to mention being very agile and punchy as all get out. At 69 years old, I am planning an Iron Butt this year. Never would have considered that before. By the way, real men don't drink Starbucks but Dunkin Donuts and know how to hold their urine! God Bless!
Great information. Thank you for sharing with the group.
I chose the Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak because I wanted a bike that 1) could do long-distance touring; 2) could be agile and "sporty" while bombing down the backroads; 3) fit my 6'1" frame with 34" inseam. I absolutely love the Electronically-adjustable Suspension and the Adaptive Cruise Control. The ABS has already saved me from an idiot who floated his stop at a 4-way stop, as I was able to swerve to avoid hitting his car broadside.
Liked your analysis. When I rode my 2013 Multi from SF to NOLA I got hit by huge winds and actual tumble weeds in New Mexico. I didn't move an inch. You are dead on with all your points.
I appreciate you taking the time to post and confirm some of my thoughts
Agree with the order of benefits. Only downside is price and cost high fuel consumption. That was reason i settled with tiger850 rather than big adv.
That absolutely makes sense. We all have different needs, wants and desires.
Although the off road stuff isn't my thing, so any points there are kind of moot for me, I agree with every point. Well done.
Thank you very much for posting and I appreciate your input
My top 5 reasons for buying a larger adventure motorcycle:
1) It's heavy thus less affected by wind.
2) It's big thus more visible to other vehicles.
3) Calling AAA to pick-up your bike if it tips-over will save your back from injuries.
4) It's an excuse to purge your wallet.
5) It supports our oil and gas producing industry.
I agree, but I chose the wrong ADV bike, the Triumph Tigers will fit me better than the Africa Twin I used to own. I actually prefer an ADV bike to my Goldwing, so there maybe a change in my garage soon.
Sounds like a good change for the better. Go ahead and do it.
The biggest problem is all the middleweight bikes are over 200KGs At that point. You might as well get the big one. Whats 20Kg when it weighs over 200kg anyway
That’s an excellent point
Agree with all your points Rembo and the number 1 reason. Happy with my Multi V4s ❤
Adrenaline - twist the throttle in Sport mode and open the door to happiness 😘
Also spend big money once, cry once and be happy with the best in the big adventure bike world as per your perspective rather than buy something and then think I should have bought the big one.
Happy and safe riding everyone.
Cheers

Agree with you on these, esp. #1. Clearly, the single most important reason for a big bike IMO is the engine. Power and acceleration is what makes motorcycle riding so awesome.
Thanks for sharing!
I love seeing the large adventure bikes at Starbucks 😉
LOL
Y Porsche Cayenne , Mercedes ML...... jajajaja
I'd add a one that straddles a few of yours. You mentioned power to propel a passenger, but they also have more room for a passenger (so they don't crowd the rider), more luggage for a passenger (I could probably pack in a tank bag), and more comfort for a passenger (legroom, quality seat, heated seat, top box backrest).
They are all too big for me, but if one has the inseam, they make a lot of sense for touring. The new Africa Twin may be an exception. I'll be interested to see that one in the flesh when they get here. I hear May.
I prefer simple bikes with less stuff that can break/go obsolete as I tend to put a lot of miles on them and keep them a while. I'm also cheap and lazy and don't much care for things of a high maintenance nature.
Hope your back is feeling better.
just sold my mid size KTM and today was the very first ride on my brand new V4 rally, ohhhhh maaaan........ agreed very much on yours "top 10", cheers V!
Good to hear!
New subscriber here! I’ve had my 22 v4s for couple years now and it’s a bike that rekindled my love for motorcycling. It is also my first adv bike. These larger adv bikes are special in their own league!
Welcome aboard! Thanks for subscribing
Hmm. My Africa Twin’s 270 crank engine had sooo much harmonic resonance at 70 mph it drove me crazy. 😂The Vstrom 650’s engine just purred at higher rpm.
Big bikes typically have a good amount of wind protection, which can be less fatiguing on big tours and offer a bit more rain deflection.
Ok Rembo, this one got me thinking, so here goes:
1. Own a large Adv bike such as a V4S because its too pretty to take off road thus forcing the inevitable and logical decision to own a second more appropriate midsized Adv bike!
2. As is the case for a V4S, simple, lust, pure and simple!
Hello Rembo.
Thanks for this new video, very clarifying, I agree almost totally.
Have you tried the Triumph Tiger 1200?
Best regards from Spain.
Pedro.
Yes I have and there is a video for that. ruclips.net/video/i1vKh1384i4/видео.htmlsi=TSotiU0AetTX225Y
@@RemboUSMC Thanks Rembo, will have a look. Best. P.
Works for me!👍
Right on
If you like how they look and ride on the road they are great. But if you are realy travelling country's with litle road network then they are to heavy. I have a old 750 adventure bike and I would not take it of road.
Then you would definitely like my other video as to the problems with large adventure, bikes
how is your back bro ?
Slowly, working on it, going through therapy, ended up getting some injections into my spine to help things along. Took some of the pain away. On my way back to better Fitness.
Better highway stability
