Acceleracers left off in a cliff hanger and I went into Battle force 5 thinking it was a sequel but they didn't mention any of the events from the previous movies. So it was really weird that they used the character created for those movies to do a tv series that had no connection to the movies at all.
RIP Accelracers, the precursor to this show. All the planned ideas for Acceleracers sequel turned into BF5 which ended.
The true ending of this series was a movie called Hot Wheels Battle Force 5: Full Revolution. It was only broadcasted in latin america, since it was more popular there. That means the english dub, the "original" one, was never shown (it is unknown if there was ever a recording in first place, though the credits on the movie are in english, which indicates that yes, it should exist). If you want to search it, in spanish is called "Revolución Total". Sadly, it doesn't tell what happened to Sol.

@@curious5887 Yeah. A channel uploaded the movie with english subtitles if you want to watch it. Another user uploaded only the intro in original english, so it seems it was broadcasted somewhere. And the guy who made the storyboards uploaded years ago the one for the final scene, which was longer and epic, sad it wasn't animated like that. If you see the final scene in the movie you can note how it was rushed, compared to how it was planned to be.

I was a Producer on the series + Full Revolution. Full Revolution was originally written and produced in English, but because it was commissioned by Mattel's Latin American subsidiaries it was therefore only broadcast there. In Spanish and I believe in Brazilian Portuguese.

Battle force 5 is the lost acceleracers sequel...
Reusing car designs and lost designs from Acceleracers that weren't added into the movies...
It honestly feels like all of the plot points:
Saving the singular alien from the robots and bad guys, last of their race (keep in mind we only see one at the end of acceleracers)
Showing the sentient (alien) homeworld
Using robots and another form of enemy
Vert is the main character with a focus of other characters (silencerz team, after finishing the teku/metal maniacs plot?)
The battle keys, very reminiscent of the accelecards.
Showing the warp area that powers the warps...
It just seems like some of the major plot points were taken directly from Acceleracers and the direction the original film series was supposed to go to.
Even then, I wish we could get at least SOME sort of closure for acceleracers. Man ...
not really. the only reused concepts from acceleracers they used was the chopper design. this show is completely different to acceleracers and it was never intended to be a sequel.
@@Zug_ ok....... well that why does the main character of Battle force 5 have the exact same name as vert from accerlaracer and who also has a father who was missing for most of his life like vert from acclerecers.......battle force 5 has the older brother of the two (cant remember their names) who is scared of everything like monkey from acclerecers or the younger brother or the bigger one of the two is kinda reminiscent of pork chop from acclerecers

Calling the main character Vert is an easy way for mattel to keep the trademark. the original hot wheels show from the 90's had a character called Vert and i highly doubt ar was a sequel to that. it's the exact same reason that reverb was reused in Battle Force 5. An example of this is the character optimus prime being reused for each incarnation of the show despite being different characters. And the 2 brothers is just a common tv trope of having one be scared and one not. it's not a reference to acceleracers. Again battle force 5 is Not a sequel to acceleracers.

Battle Force 5 and Storm Hawks are the shows that ended up in the back of my mind even though they were my childhood and I really liked them. And when this guy talks about them, I just think "Holy crap how did i forget these shows existed". Thanks for covering these nostalgic shows, I really like how someone is finally talking about them.
"Storm Hawks" was one of those shows, like "Dragon Booster", that really deserved a proper ending.
I honestly really liked BF5 as a series. I thought it was fun, and it even had some easter eggs to the previous series, Acceleracers. I'm talking blatant easter eggs, like the very first scenes of the show have Vert, a recurring character, climbing into his most famous car, Power Rage. The car he crashed in the water realm. Reverb, the name of Stanford's car, in reference to the car of the same name in Acceleracers. And finally, the 'hardest one' to spot is in an episode where they end up at the gas station cafe. In a split second you see Old Smokey, Porkchop's big rig from, again, Acceleracers, passing the gang almost running Stanford over. It's even still got Metal Maniacs insignia on it. It wasn't carrying cars as far as I remember though. It was driving empty. But still, people did get references to the greatest Hot Wheels tv/movie property in this series. And to boot it was a serviceable series. Enjoyable and fun, but no WR or Acceleracers. I just wish the show properly ended for me. I got as far as Fused and the Red Sentient arcs, and no episodes ever came back on the website or even on youtube. To this day, I still wonder what Rawkus was on about.

I watched this series when I was younger, re-watched it a few years ago, and enjoyed the hell out of it. I really liked the art style they took on this (practically the same as League of Super Evil, Slugterra, etc.) and I loved the story. Too bad season 3 was only dubbed/subbed in Spanish and just never got English dub/sub.
I used to have the actual hotwheels toy for the martial arts guy (kid in yellow who rides the motorcycle that can fly) cause he was my favorote character. When they had an episode and it involved where he came from and we got to see his sensei I think and either a kid who wanted to be his disciple or was his little brother (I'm not sure), that was one of my favorite episodes.
Edit: Not really a season 3 but more like a part 3. It's a movie. I just refer to it as season 3 because it had a new opening, title, arc, etc. (Kinda what Ninjago did with their "Rise of the Oni" arc where its considered a movie even though its just 3 seperate episodes back to back but it can either be considered its own mini-season or be part of the previous "Sons of Garmadon" season. You get the point.)

Yeah I agree man I used to watch this when I was a kid every Saturday on weekends it was on I honestly think both seasons were good it amazes me that this didn't get a third season like what other villains could Hot Wheels come up with there's probably untapped potential

@@FlyLittleBuddy Yep, it was actually starting to shadow the hotwheels brand, so they cancelled it due to fear that acceleracers would kill the hot wheels brand.
Battle Force 5 is easily the COOLEST thing Hot Wheels had ever done, besides attention to detail and making those character themed cars, but this show was one of the few unique ideas Hot Wheels ever did, having drivers use their weaponized cars to battle bad guys, that's one reason I also loved the Acceleracers line as well, the 2 few series of this type of plot.
Why BF5 is "the coolest thing" and not Accelleracers?

@@TheZamaron IF battle force 5 was well written, a lot of things would be made different so it ties to the Accelleracers universe and that would have made BF5 a HUGE deal, like: we beat the drones and now we're on the offensive instead of the defensive that happens on the Accelleracers movies. Kinda like in Accelleracers they're embracing the "drive to survive" motto of the theme song but in BF5 its more like "Drive for revenge". The bad part is: Only Vert appearing doesn't make it an Accelleracers continuation cuz that can well be another vert from another universe so BF5 sadly isn't a continuation....

I see it as a spiritual continuation, these 2 series are the best thing Hot Wheels has ever done, they gave lore and story to a brand that was just cool cars and race tracks. Sure it doesn’t continue the same story, but it still continues the main themes of Acceleracers that’s why I love it so much.

The Multiverse is a Universe where there’s multiple planets that are parallel to each other.
Meaning that they were potentially planning on a crossover episode with all 3 versions of the series but just like the last two, it was canceled. That’s the main point.
Could you look at "hotwheels world race" and "hotwheels acceleracers"? They are both shows that came out before "battle force 5" and have that over arching story line you were missing from "battle force 5".
As well as great character development and better battles in my opinion

I used to love this show as a kid. Was always my favorite. Not sure why people are saying how they thought that they were the only one who used to watch it.
Anyway, I think I lost interested when the Fusion force came. When they added new characters. Nothing was really spontaneous for me in the new characters. Sage's brother brought in some conflict which was good actually but the dude who wears brown (who I can't even bother to remember their name) and the Blonde haired dude who wears blue. Again can't remember them. I think it would be better if they showed the families (Vert family like his father etc ) or something.
The downfall, in my opinion, was how they made a movie, not in English or other languages but only Spanish.

Two great shows I’m wondering what happened were “Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy” and “Chowder.” They were absolutely amazing, and now I wonder why they just stopped or ended so soon.
If you enjoyed Battle Force 5, I think you'll absolutely love the Hot wheels Acceleracers show and highway 35 movie. Your big complaint was that the show didn't feel like it had an overarching story, but Acceleracers actually does have a main story that all the episodes build itself up too. The show also has no problem with establishing the stakes of the show (going as far as presumably killing off a character from the movie in the tv show). As a dumb kid, I didn't understand it and realized just how surprisingly dark the show can get at times. Another thing, the humans in Acceleracers aren't "best of buds" straight off the bat. There are two competing human teams that each hate each other for reasons explained in the show. The characters in the show also have different reasons for joining each side.
Put this on top of the fact that they have to face evil robots that have no problem trying to kill the human drivers (and almost always failing). But killing the drivers isn't the objective for the robots, its winning the race (for reasons told fairly quickly in the show). They also start the humans off with a disadvantage in the race because they don't have cheat cards that the robots have won for winning races. So, these all add up together to make the viewer feel like the good guys are in an unwinnable scenario, which makes their seldom victories so much better.
I absolutely loved this show and was incredibly disappointed that Battle Force 5 wasn't a sequel to the original, and as a result, soured my opinion of the 2009 show. It felt far more formulaic than the original and was lacking substance in my opinion (I think I remember watching some or all of season 1 and then leaving the show). While the original Hot wheels movie and series aren't perfect (the movie is PINNACLE 2000's with the skateboarder cool kid trope and everything) it is an improvement of Battle Force 5 in my opinion. Although the battle force 5 theme song was addictively awesome when I heard it as a kid.
TL:DR: Hot Wheels Acceleracers is arguable an objectively better show than Battle Force 5 and Negative Legend should 100% check the original movie and show out.
There’s also, one more thing battle force 5 had, a TV movie that lasted 45 minutes, called “Battle force 5, Full Revolution” which was about a new race of villains called the Karmordians, wanting to take over the multiverse, and if you haven’t heard of it, it’s probably cause it only aired South America, it had an English dub version but right now that’s been lost in the years since it released
Can we not forget about how Vert’s dad showed up at some point, because of course he did.
Or what about the Rocket League episode...before Rocket League was a, thing...yeah.

This was my favourite show growing up as a kid and was one of the main reason I got into cars and it became my passion. Great video.
I liked how Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated did it, the series was still mostly the typical "villain of the week" but there episodes would end with a small update to the big over arching mystery which really gave it a sense of time flow. Also the characters actually developed somewhat over time

I remember watching the first season, as my younger brothers were into it, but the second season was never aired in New Zealand, so I had no idea of it's existence until this video. Great video!

I loved the show, but this is not everything. After the second season there was a movie but I can't find it in English, only Spanish (I think) and most of the time no subtitles.
The season 1 finale gave me chills. Seeing Krytus rise up into the Sentient sky right after Sage did, with Zemerik subsequently screaming “NO!” in trepidation because he knew what was going to come of this made me realize the effects of the intense foreshadowing of the Red Sentients and tension that was building up since the “Double Down” and “Stormshocker” episodes.
Fantastic show, and much darker than normal kids shows.

THERE WAS A MOVIE!!!! The movie was only released in Spanish and is hard to find but has a MASSIVE wrap up.
Bro I used to watch this show as a kid and I always wondered where it went. Nostalgia is hitting hard, and regardless of how nonsensical the plot is, and regardless of all the problems it has, I can’t bring myself to hate it. I’m also glad I’m not the only one who remembers it.

So I do have a few issues with your analysis, now do I not like your analysis, no, but some issues did occur.
So the big one, plots not getting used and getting well...destroyed, here’s the thing. At least for the US, they had very limited episodes to work with ( the rest were made for other regions ), and it seems from the show, the team cared for an ending Generator Rex style.
So they did so, regardless if they left a lot of plots to be destroyed. I actually like that they did that because than we’d feel disappointed a lot more without some ending and another show goes dodo on us.
Secondly, the first season, while it may have been one shots, those one shots gave context for the world within the show , it basically was less of a lore dump at the beginning and more of a lore path that continued to the point of what we needed and then we would then go into Season 2.
Thirdly, yes, the fan base is small but that is because this came around a time when fan bases didn’t go at shows like people do now for gravity falls. The mysteries that existed for the show kind of had the same following as the Tron movies and animated show had.
The fan bases weren’t big enough to facilitate owl house or gravity falls level fan base crazy..or even RUclips videos on it for that matter when the show was airing. At least they weren’t popular enough to show up at the time if they did exist.
Anyway, liked the video but your perspective needs to shift ever so slightly to see why it had to do these things and why it went the way it did.
Without seeing that, you’ll think of it like an incomplete gravity falls.

It was never intended to be a reboot of Acceleracers. The name “Vert” was rebranded for the show so it can be used again, despite the fact if both of them had no correlations to each other. Yes, they are “the protagonists” in both shows but these are separate shows in separate universes. Therefore, having no actual correlation in the timeline of these shows. Although, some aspects of Acceleracers was used in BF5 such as mech suits, cars, etc, it still doesn’t mean it is a reboot of it. Mattel never intended for it to be a reboot because Acceleracers was already canceled after the 4th movie.

There was only one reason I gave this show any attention; Captain Kalus.
This badass cat's design is just awesome. Gladiator armor, tribal tattoo stripes and best of all, his ripped, muscular body. Whether he's in tropical jungles or even arctic ice worlds, he always charged into battle shirtless and strong. A body like that deserves to be showed off all the time. Powerful pectorals, hard abs and mighty arms. A powerful warrior with a predator's strength and a damn sexy body. He was the best thing this show ever had. And its fitting that in his final episode "Rumble in the jungle" he finally got his hard earned victory.
The show ended with such a massive cliff hanger. The first two episodes of season 3 aired in Mexico (for some reason) but not in the US
Can we just acknowledge that vert is the same name of the main character of Hot Wheels world race Flash/acceleracers as well as Hot Wheels Battle Force 5
You forgot that fact that Vert finds his long lost father, also Vert, who is apparent the protagonist of hot wheels: Accelerators, in the freaking multiverse portal thingy.
And I really wanted a conclusion to Vandal storyline, and if BF5 manages to ever free the slave race trapped on Vandal.

Just a note: Battleforce 5 was sort of a continuation of the race battles from before, as Vert was originally brought in as a brand new driver who had just got his license and was selected for the contests (Accelleracers, I think was the start). So, if you follow from that there was no surprise for him to go around through the dimensions, or the later issue with his dad, which 5 tied up (could have been the series after accelerators, it's been quite a while).
It's not a continuation, though. It's been confirmed that they're not connected, and that they only used Jack and Vert's names. They're not connected at all.

So I have been putting off watching this review when it first got announced and the only reason why is because of me remembering some of the stupid things I did while in the fandom.
Like making an online petition to keep the show going because we wanted a season 3 and for whatever reason the movie was in Spanish so it never got released in English last I checked. Point is I was 18 and dumb because I didn’t realize that the show needed profit from the toys to survive but the only toys I was aware of was the McDonald’s Happy Meals from when season 2 rolled around. I also have a Wii game that’s…possibly not playable because it’s hiding in a drawer somewhere.
Oh! Then there was a racer star in one of the episodes who sadly passed away shortly after that episode aired.

I watched this show back in middle school. Yes, the majority of Season 1 is skippable (I still haven't watched all of Season 1). In fact, when the show was airing, you could watch it on the official Hot Wheels Battle Force 5 website for free,, which had the first two and last two episodes of the first season and the entirety of Season 2, which was all you really needed.
Looking back on it, this show isn't great. I thought it was funny that they still called it Battle Force 5 despite the addition of new characters by creating the arbitrary rule that only 5 team vehicles can enter a battle zone at once. But I enjoyed it at the time and was really bummed that it got canceled.
