Avatar: The Last Airbender gave us three practically perfect seasons of television and its legacy is going to live on for quite some time. And frankly, we wouldn’t change a thing about it! It’s rich characters, amazing story and wonderful animation can’t be improved on, but that hasn’t stopped us from reimagining certain scenarios to play out a little differently. Today’s video is all about what if Aang was never frozen in the block of ice?
This would change everything in a really unique and interesting way and today’s video will explore what the show would look like if Aang’s circumstances were different. A lot of people like to say that Aang would have been wiped out if he wasn’t frozen and was still with the Air Nomads, but here at CBR, we don’t think that would be the case! We think Aang would trigger the Avatar State during the Fire Nation attack and eventually repel the enemy forces. Sure, there would be massive casualities, but a small group fo Air Nomads would still be alive, including Monk Gyatso. This would lead Aang and Gyatso to travel together across the world in search of teachers for Aang where they might come across familiar characters like Bumi and even…. Hama??

What about Kuzon, the Fire Nation friend that Aang spoke of? Why not have Kuzon join Aang as his firebending teacher?

@@flymartian33 I'm talking about in this alternate timeline of this video. CBR had Aang completely skip firebending and never mentioned Kuzon. If Aang didn't spend a century in an iceberg, Kuzon would still be alive. In fact, I don't even remember proof of Kuzon dying in the original show, we just assumed he was dead because of the human lifespan. Yet Bumi survived those hundred years as the king of Omashu.

@@galacticrage8782 Just checked the Avatar wiki to verify your statement and, well you're wrong. Kuzon was a firebender. He did make one appearance in a comic titled "Dragon Days" in a flashback story. Kuzon used his firebending to trick some dragon egg poachers into thinking the mother dragon was coming back.

There is a fan-story where Yue was originally the next avatar proceeding Aang; that is, if the fire nation never attacked and he never ran away. People think its Yue because it was shown that she couldnt live by her own. So they put her in the oasis, and you know the rest. If she could have been the avatar, then she couldnt survive without the avatar spirit. Since it is in Aang, her birth was unstable. She was helped by another spirit, the Moon. I still dont know much of these but you can search it. If you could reach this far, then... go search.

Yes but the avatar lives to extraordinary lengths, for example, Kyoshi lived around 300 years, Aang would most likely still be alive 100 years after the attack on the southern air temple.
Making me wanna watch ATLA for the 3rd time and TLOK for the 2nd time all again on Netflix. Can't believe I didn't realize how good both shows were back when I was a kid. Just glad I'm a huge fan of both shows now.

I kind of like this alternate timeline, turning Aang's adventures into more of a grim resistance while making him more conflicted. It's not the kids show that ATLA was, and that might be kind of cool.
I think that aang and survivors of the southern temple would have begun looking for the other airbenders. Sozins trap may not have worked. They could find a safer place for them till the war ended.

Literally EVERYTHING we know from Korra and The last airbender, would be gone. Because the characters wouldn’t exist in the correct timeline. Korra wouldn’t of been the next avatar because aang would’ve died of age or something else. All of the events wouldn’t exist.

Well, I feel like the cabbage merchant would still be around, just his grandfather or father. Because in the rise of Kyoshi there’s a part where a man is talking to another person about the future of cabbages. So the cabbage thing must be from father to son, and the cabbage merchant is part of a whole family of cabbage merchants. Then somewhere along the line cabbage Corp is formed
It’s possible Hama was already born because Aang wasn’t frozen for exactly 100 years and Hama was imprisoned for about 60 years. She could be about Toph’s age in this version
If this were in the original story, there’s a good chance that the next avatar could very well be katara

Exactly. If it’s a normal fire nation attack. Sure. Aangs avatar state,which most likely would just use air, could take them. But it’s Sozin’s Comet. Every fire nation soldier is essentially a combustion man in terms of firepower.
@@derrickjones434 well the avatar state draws knowledge from all previous avatars so he probably could’ve utilised all the elements. It’s like how he used water bending when zuko captured him from the South Pole.
@@liamcruse739 I think there’s the chance. But given that logic, every time he goes in the avatar state in the show, he would’ve used all four elements , not one or two at most like he did. He also did very basic attacks; he split the fire temple with fire, he beat zuko’s men with water, and he used the one earth attack in the S2 premier. (I’m counting the instances before he learned the element.)And he usually would pass out afterward. I think his avatar state develops with him, and you’re basically asking an Aang at the literal beginning of his avatar journey, to pull off a feat that he did in the finale. It’s possible, but we’ve never seen a past avatar take over the current avatar and just be a full power avatar; especially for a prolonged battle. There’s a reason why there’s Avatar training, and not just instantly learning everything from your past life.
@@derrickjones434 We’ve seen Kyoshi and Roku possess Aang to fight a battle. Also the first time Aang went into the avatar state he used water bending.
@@supernerdgavin Kyoshi possessed Aang to confess and left. Aang fought the rough rhinos in kyoshi’s outfit. Roku was able to materialize and bend like that because it was his temple on the solstice. Even then he only did fire bending. The most broken thing a past avatar has did with a current avatar was Aang restoring Korra’s blood bended-surpressed bending with Energybending.
Finally, that water bending was from an avatar that hasn’t trained his waterbending, and he would be up against, fully trained sozins comet powered fire benders. And what if some of them can lightning bend? Azula killed a more experienced Aang with weaker lightning bending and he was in the avatar state. Aang would’ve died 10 times over if he stayed at that temple. It’s really bizarre how this guy made a fan fiction video and all of a sudden all of the signs and canon facts are forgotten. What he said makes sense at first glance, until you factor in the comet. Given the speed of his development, his avatar state would be a scary airbender, but limited in everything else.

That's a great alternate timeline, but there's a bit of things missing/wouldn't make sense.
If you make this alternate Hama a member of the North Water tribe, her only teachings for Aang would probably be healing related. The Northern water tribe traditions forbid women from learning any kind of waterbending that isn't medical, and this isn't change until Katara challenges Pakku.
The other thing would be about taking Sozin's bending away. That isn't a skill inherent to the Avatar, that was learned, "teached" by the lion turtle when he energy bended Aang in order to pass the technique on to him.
So, for that, he would have to somehow find the Lion Turtle a 100 years earlier.
I thought it was pronounced Gyatso (G-ee-yah-t-soh) not Gyatsu (G-ee-yah-tsu)

It was a different video that I am recalling. About how in the legend of Korra, there are Airbenders now?
He had some different ideas on it.
Wasn’t it something like this? Like what is the reason?
Basically, all of the Airbenders were defeated at war by the fire nation. Because all the Airbenders train and fight.
However, the rest of the air tribe were individuals that had no bending ability.
And they left the air kingdom and went to live in the fire, water, and earth kingdoms.
Eventually, they had children in the future generation who received recessive genes so that some of the children could potentially be an air bender.
Therefore, once again, there were more Airbenders, and the last Airbender was no longer Avatar Aang.

Ang used the avatar state temp for like 2 sec at the beginning of the show and then fell unconscious/fainted he would have died flat out if he went back home instead if getting trapped in the ice berg. Because he couldn't use the avatar state properly at all back then and he would have more than likely caused the end of the avatar cycel. The timeline happened the way it did because there was no other choice.
hama wouldnt know how to blood bend because she discovered the ability after she got captured so she couldnt teach aang
if you wanted Hama to be aang's teacher why don't you make them go to the south, it makes more sense as the fire nation was able to wipe them out and that's where Hama lived, also it would make more sense for for them to go to the water tribe first because they're supposed to learn waterbending before earth bending

Very interesting. The only plot-related issue I have with this AU is the fact that the Fire Nation successfully conquered the Northern Water Tribe. In the original show, that was only possible due to the technological advances that the Fire Nation had made after one hundred years of development, like the arctic tanks, which are armored vehicles that could offer fire-benders shelter against the onslaught of water attacks. Without a way of negating the environmental advantages the water-benders would have, the Fire Nation would have little to no chance of winning such an invasion.

No, Aang would not be able to stop and push back the Fire Nation Siege on the Air Temple; yes, he would go into the avatar state and he will kill in the avatar state, therefore ending the avatar cycle.
Why? Because:
1: the firebenders was boosted by the Sozin’s comet, they also dragon on their side.
2: Sozin also have 12 years to develop weapons and prepare his Siege on the Air Temples
3: Yes, the Avatar state are very powerful, but Aang is not strong enough to keep himself in the avatar state; he is also incapable of controling himself in that state. So he would also most likely to kills many airbenders as well.
I just realised Zuko wouldn't have that scar if Aang ended the war and didn't run away.

I don't disagree with Hama as a choice at all. Last character would have to be serious compared to the other 3. Only thing is I see Aang pulling a "Zuko alone" when that conflict happens to find out what it means to be the Avatar by himself. Born an Airbender, so evade and dodge the conflict. That's where Bumi and the headstrong earthbending style comes in with Aang finally confronting that situation and getting better at earth bending in the process
