Me too, i am addicted to Indian history. I started with Nehru's 58 videos introductory history of India which took me 2.5 months to watch and has many beautiful songs and stories, after that I watched individual lecturers. Now i know many Indian names of kings, saints, sultans, and what happened in India in modern times. I am not indian. People from my country know almost nothing about India. I think India is the core of human civilization because all non primitive humans who left Africa had to pass through India.

Everyone talks about river Saraswati, but has anyone given thought as to how the river got its name Saraswati or Sarasvati?
As a person of Indian origin, I have been very curious as to the location and origin of the Saraswati river, as well as the etymology of the word Saraswati. In Goa, there is a belief that the Goan Konkani Brahmins (Hindus and Catholic converts alike) are actually descendants of the migrants that lived in the Saraswati area and moved south and east once the river dried up. Recent DNA research suggests that there might be some element of truth to this hypothesis. What has intrigued me most is the etymology of the word Saraswati and based on my understanding of how names are given to a lot of places in Goa -- many a times it is based on activity or notable events in the area. For example, there is a place in Goa called Bhagbhat in Salcette taluka (my ancestors came from this place). Now I know that this place was named as Bhagbhat because the land was frequented by tigers in the area that roamed from the Western Ghats -- in Hindi the word "Bhag" stands for tiger, so the name for the place is consistent with what my ancestors or people knew about the location. I am sure you can think of similar examples with respect to your towns.
My hypothesis on the etymology of the word Saraswati is that it is derived from the original path or way through which charas (concentrate of ganja) was transported in the region through the river in that area (river navigation is faster in the mountain regions). The word "vat" in Konkani (language derived from Sanskrit) means "way" or "route" and "vati" stands for "through this way". Now, given that charas trade was likely transported via the river, it is possible that my ancestors (and of others), named the river as "Charas vati" - to represent the route through which charas was being transported. Remember, this is the region where opium and ganja was grown abundantly and traded. The Silk Road is part of this region. As time went by, the "Cha" got softened to "Sa", and the word Sarasvati or Saraswati survived to the present. I am not a linguistic expert -- the experts can dwell on this further.

Kurmi , Ahir are not specific to Gangetic valley, mere casteist unmaadi bhai ...
Kurmi are spread throughout MP rajasthan, Gujrat(Patel) , Maharshtra( Patil) .
Similarly Ahir are also more spread throughout, Apart from Gujrat Dwaraka where SriKrishna ruled , and in Maharashtra they are known as Jadhav. They were in Andhra , they were from ruling family of Mysore as well .
If these caste belong to Gangetic plane , then other caste from rest of India will also wake up and ask these people to go back to Ganges ..
As same happens though to some extent now already, when caste obsessed politican have ruined Up and Bihar , and these ahir kurmi go to Maharshtra Tamil Nadu and Karnataka for job . And how they got treated is known to everyone.
And also, region around Ganges have been ruled by Ishvaku since time immemorial, if you are going to tag only few caste to be native of that region you are making a fools mistaken.
These Ishvaku rulers were future Gautam Buddha and Mahavira Jain along with pleothra of Hindu rulers .
Heck, Bhagirathi one of Ishavaku king is fabled to have bring Ganga to Northern planes as well . No doubt, these Ishvaku kings were respected and Upanishad and philosophy was discussed in these kings court.

You have good message about embracing cultivation though, which i liked a lot. But would you suggest a Ahir in Maharshtra to speak Brij or Awadhi or Kurmi Patel from Gujrat to speak Bagheli or Bundeli.
Your statement seems exclusionary and reek of same Ambedkarite propaganda though .. else i don't have any issue with people taking pride in their culture
