I love Elton John very deeply, he took part of the most important moments of my life and of my whole generation! I am grateful to God that I will hear him live in Belo Horizonte next Saturday! Elton is the best performer ever no matter his age or his voice is not so strong as long ago. Love you, bless you, EJ!
0:50 - Your Song
5:43 - Tiny Dançar
13:00 - Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word
16:51 - I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues
21:57 - Rocket Man
It's interesting you say that; I've been loving how he's been stretching out on some of these tunes, especially Rocket Man. He has such a deep catalogue but his sets lean so heavily on his (admittedly many) hits that it's great to see him get back to his 70s rocker roots and improvise and show off his musicianship in addition to his songwriting. Same reason I love when he pulls out Madman Across the Water. With Davey and Nigel in the band, you can't beat that telepathic chemistry!
Regardless of his voice changing for the better or worse, I still love Elton, always will. He will always be a great inspiration for me as an amature musician and the one consistent musical artist, that I essentially grew up with who is one of the few that has transcended so many generations.
You can tell, Elton is passionate what he does, I don't think the man could ever retire, he just loves what he does and someone like me, will always be a fan.
Amazing!! My favorite singer in the last 40 years. So lucky to have seen him in São Paulo in 2010.
How I wish songs like "where to now st. Petet" come more often in his standard tours! This guy has so many hidden and amazing gems that deserve more recognition.
Hopefully I get lucky this year to see him in concert! Been to one only and that night remains to be one of the most amazing and memorable ones for me!
Wow, his music gets more beautiful as the years go by. His talent has no limits.
Man, what a voice! Can't believe he is doing 5 shows in Brazil this year but not in Rio de Janeiro.
loved it. He is truly amazing and hope to see him for the four time in the near future again.
Thankyou so much for uploading this. Such a great performance, so beautiful with an orchestra, AND with the ingenious conduction/ arrangement of James Newton Howard!! I'm a happy camper.
God Bless you Elton John!!! I prayed for him and his lovely family!!! God bless David and Zachary and Elijah!!!
So very gifted & talented musician. One of the very best to grace earth.
Amazing! Genious Elton! Yamaha really make weaves
I still look forward to my first concert with Elton John. I don't hope he retire before that :S
About his voice, it sounds even better now!
This man is a gift from GOD - and God doesn't make mistakes! Choke on that haters!
I grew up listening to his music and will forever listen.
Best living artist! Love it
Love this version of I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues.
My wife and I were fortunate enough to be there. It was amazing!
it was seriously the most amazing event that I have EVER attended. EVER. The whole night was incredible.
Thanks for the post.
Thanks for posting it.
Thanks so much for posting this
Really thanks for the post!
He is indeed THE Rocket Man! Fantastic performance!
A great one . Thanks alot .I love your music and songs. Amazing. Thanks.
Thanks for the post!
Elton John é o melhor! Também prefiro a voz dele hoje!
I'd forgotten that he wrote Sorry Seems to be the Hardest Word. Great tune, among many. The ability to include terse phrases: "...and it's getting more and more absurd..." enhances and anchors these, his signature works.
Much appreciated - couldn't make the live stream, thanks for uploading and sharing.
Seen Elton about three months before this concert, awesome
He sounds extra good here, can't wait for 2013!
Thank you for posting this. I went to the website yamaha sent me and there was never a link. I kind of figured it would get out though!
I was there...for sure..
Elton's music sheet:
"Your Song, Tiny Dancer, Sorry, Blues, Rocket Man"
LOL
Sehr gut!unglaublich! Der beste sänger den es jemals gab
O ELTON JOHN eh FODA PORRA!!
Não tem outras palavras pra definir... ÚNICO... e GENIAL!!
Elton - you're the one
Best
older but still musical legend
I actually prefer the long version of rocket man when Its done solo, it gives a much greater sense of the lonliness expressed in the song, and provides a bit of sadness that is not captured fully in the original imo.
Either way, one of my all time favorite songs from my favorite artist :)
Also noteworthy his performance here for "the blues" , it really highlights his skills with the piano!
bravo to Elton John!! and also to YAMAHA!
I was initially saddened, reflecting on how much vocal range he's lost over the years making some of the old songs an echo of their former selves, even as sung 15 years ago. However, I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues was a surprise and real treat, more interpretive and more attitude than ever! I agree with another comment, the unending Rocket Man, if it must be, is best piano and voice only.
Yes the best artist
Going to see him Friday in Nashville :)
I am certainly a fan of Sir Elton's early creative work and he had said that that creative train will never run that well again, he has also had said that he has become a better singer over time. People should listen to what the artist says about themselves and then that's what separates a true fan. Learn to grow with your artist. You'll be happier.
O Tempo nunca vai conseguir desgastar essa musica
I'm a huge Elton fan. Felt honored/privileged to see him in concert in 2009. I must admit, however, that his voice is getting rough. Granted he's almost 66 now. Nevertheless, still a living legend. Incidentally, I think it was James Howard that did the score / conducting for Tour de Force.
sounded good
I watched this concert
As a long term fan, I would be sad if this is what we have to look forward in terms of vocal performance. Also not sure that this isn't over-orchestrated. Some of the best piano work I have heard from him is featured on the film "Back in the USSA" AKA "To Russia With Elton" a documentary of his 1979 tour of the Soviet Union, where you can hear an especially beautiful version of "Tonight" from the "Blue Moves" album. Also early versions of "Skyline Pigeon" are wonderful!
His heavy drug use and alcohol, plus vocal cords surgery has taken its toll on his voice since the late 80's unfortunately. It is very sad.
aT 66 i am amazed he still put in great performances! these songs are difficult to sing. elton i love you!!!
this is the best we can get from Eltons voice now and this is NOT ovder ochrestrated. In fact it is ver subtle and the sound recording is optimal. His vocals just are not what they were but his bosdy of work is legendery, important, ethereal, and will last forever.
Thank you so much for posting this. I was wondering how I was going to get it! Can you kindly tell me what program you used to capture the streaming video? Any suggestions on how to do so on a Mac?
Very true!
sensacional.....
Best version of rocket man. Just incredible
awsome
I love you ej
hey if u compare to 20 or 30 years ago of course is alot deeper, thayt aside he sounds amazing!!!
Can anyone tell me the name of the songs he sang?
Are you? Thank you for telling us.
muito bom.
i prayed for you in church
A song like rocket man just fits better as a piano solo rather than band (as opposed to levon for example) - everyone is entitled to their opinion though :)
His selection for this concert and audience is appropriate given that they are mostly yamaha dealers so they would only be interested in the big and popular hits. I would agree though that in general, I wish elton will play some rare and unkown songs in his concerts more often, something along the lines of his 60th birthday concert
Then you shouldn't even bring it up in a comment like that.
I think his voice has gotten better with age.
his vocal technique has improved I kind of take back what I said his voice he wasn't very good between 2007 and 2010 but has improved since
why?
i think he can still sing
Elton is one of the best and agree like all, his sexual orientation is his business.
Fantastic piano work as always. Voice is totally shot but it's still an enjoyable performance.
Were you listening to the same performance as me? His voice is totally shot? I think not. His voice communicates a great, lived-in soul. He's awesome.
+Stephen Swain I was. I love his performance, especially the lively I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues. But his singing - listen to how strained the top notes are, the raspy and hoarse tone, the poor diction. His vocals have really deteriorated through over-use and the effects of the vocal surgery he had in 1986. It's not just age, it's vocal damage. I think it works for some songs but anyone with any knowledge of the man's work would have to agree that the voice is drastically limited compared to what he was once capable of. But don't get me wrong, I enjoy this performance.
Benjamin Churcher Interestingly, his voice has improved massively on his current tour. He seems to have gained some smoothness back.
@@jgh548 his diction and voice is totally clear in 2022 now that he has had a 2 year break. its clearer than it was in 1998 legit. he is easily hitting all the notes in im still standing and saturday night's alright for fighting at a faster tempo than the original studio recordings.
26:50 the piano magic...
... 0:00 Elton magic! :D
grand elton
The long versions of Rocket Man and Levon are waaaaaay better than the original versions. You are one of few who disagree with me....
His singing style has certainly changed over the years. I guess it gets boring singing the song the same way it was recorded ;).
i didnt even fuckin' notice
0:49 Your Song
I think his voice is much better than 20 or 30 years ago . But this doesn't mean that his voice was bad , it just means that his today's voice is unbelievable
I don't care what his sexual orientation is I enjoy his music.
So....why bring it up?
You have to be kidding...
I think you should see this Rocket Man versión from the concert he gave in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I was there myself and... well, listen to it and you'll se!

His voice is in great shape now. You should also check Home Again, his new single from new álbum ''The Diving Board''.
he tried retirement twice back in the 70's. It didn't work out.
like
02:30 Valsalva Manoeuvre :P
rocket man is the best here in such interpretation.
Remove the bug on my RUclips
Elton John & Billy Joel are the best ARTIST
he was itching his nose
Hey, don't you require him alone for you, it's not my fault I'm a hetero woman. Let's say he's a genius amongst us humans. ;)
"Greatest songwriter of his generation"? Hmmmm.......
Amazing musician for sure, but the lyrics are Bernie Taupins so...
he wrote the genius melodies. the lyrics were taupin. songwriting and lyric writing is different.
Oh dear, another product placement, gushing praise from the paid-for Matron.
I wish it well
Bls bla bla bla.
His voice the last few years has just gotten so much rougher. He should probably stop performing live, he's quite old and has really gone downhill. It's totally normal because of his age, but at some point you should just retire and enjoy all the money you've made working so hard over the years.
A stupid song? You have got to be kidding me....
