Not only are the full lyrics missing, but the best lyric was changed. "And my love he has purloined away" always gave me such a chuckle, and such brilliant use of language. Having loin in a word that means stolen brings it home much more poignantly.

I have still not found the version I remember as a child that was a cartoon. While looking I have discovered many (including Bing Crosby, Popeye and a long version by Bruce Springsteen) that sing "stolen away". I have found some old versions (including a 1934 cartoon) that use Purloined but still looking for one I saw in the early 70's and I am not sure what era it was from. Purloined ;)@@CharlesSzaboPhD
