    The United States Copyright Office, and the position of Register of Copyrights, were created by Congress in 1897. The Register directs the Copyright Office as a separate federal department within the Library of Congress, under the general oversight of the Librarian, pursuant to specific statutory authorities set forth in the United States Copyright Act. Earlier in the Nation’s history, from 1870-1896, the Librarian of Congress administered copyright registration (at that time mostly books) directly, and earlier still, from 1790-1896, U.S. district courts were responsible for doing so. Today, the Copyright Office is responsible for administering a complex and dynamic set of laws, which include registration, the recordation of title and licenses, a number of statutory licensing provisions, and other aspects of the 1976 Copyright Act and the 1998 Digital Millennium Copyright Act. By statute, the Register of Copyrights is the principal advisor to Congress on national and international copyright matters, testifying upon request and providing ongoing leadership and impartial expertise on copyright law and policy.

    Turandot is much like a Verdi opera. Yes, other than Liu, this is unlike Puccini's other operas. This is a fairy tale rather than a tale of emotional conflicts.

    Who is this narrator? She can't pronounce the names of the operas. Why select a spokesman who knows nothing about opera.

    Just came back from the Arena Di Verona TURANDOT viewing:
    Although the spectacle is grand the story is TERRIBLE!
    Of course it is open for interpretation, but the Opera clearly highlights the toxic relationship between Princess Turanot and Price Calaf as a positive and noble conclusion to the story.... which it clearly is not. The egoistical price marries an idealistic wrench which never changes despite "falling in love" with her oppressor/concuror. And I'm not even going to mention how the price walks over the dead body of the woman who truly loved him...

    • @honestview
      @honestview 2 года назад

      There is no deep meaning, nor emotional nor spiritual connection, so there is nothing to connect with... It's a shallow story about obtaining that which you don't truly want.
      The price loves a tyrant, and that murdering princess shows no signs of change other than a surface "first fancy" (it's not love) and thus there are no morals, or rather all the wrong morals.
      This story is a disgrace and should not be considered a masterpiece. it's a shame it was made into such a beautiful play.

    How can you mangle la boheme as "la bomeh". Delivery is slurred and lacks basic pronunciation. I've heard la boheme said out loud lots of times and never like that.
    02:38 I presume you meant calumny and not columney, whatever that is. Out, learn to read and speak in English.

    This is excruciating to listen to. The phones-in vocal fry, the butchered pronunciation, the misinformation…. Well done. It couldn’t have been more painful if you tried. 😂
