  • The movie Casino depicts the Chicago Outfit/Mobs takeover of Las Vegas. The Anna Scott character is based on Tamara Rand. In real life, she did loan money to Allen Glick. When this went before a judge, as they say in the movie, the bosses decided to settle it out of court.

ouch.. it sounds like the real life hit was a bit more brutal than shown in the film. It’s impressive they got the .22 part right.

In the movie and real life, it seems like killing her only sped up what they tried to prevent.
The court order to open the books was already signed, and they still dug into the finances.
If anything, her being found with a head full of bullets probably brought more scrutiny to everyone trying to stay anonymous.

Philip Greene was the character of Allen Glick. Glick was a San Diego real estate developer who got a $60 million loan from the Teamsters Union pension fund to get the Stardust casino & resort and a couple of other resorts in Las Vegas.

    • @bettertimeschi

The book “The Enforcer” by Bill Roemer has a great story on this. Tony Spilotro invited an FBI agent for a comped trip to Vegas. The agent accepts and claimed he was going to try and make Tony an informant (yea right!)
When the agent gets to Vegas, he meets Tony briefly and then never sees him again the rest of the weekend. This was when Tony slipped away to San Diego for the hit. When questioned about it, his alibi? I was with an FBI agent in Vegas.
